Small high-speed router. Knowledge base - Runs the Kayako system Connecting and setting up a tenda router

The router manufacturer Tenda has many interesting, inexpensive models that quickly found their consumers and became popular. I recently wrote about one such router, this . In this article I want to write in detail about how to go into the settings of the Tenda router. This will be an instruction for all models of this manufacturer, since almost everything is the same. There is some information on logging into the control panel in the article on. But I decided to write about everything in detail in a separate article.

To set some new parameters, configure the router after purchase, change the password, block the device, etc., you will need to go to the settings of your Tenda router. What are these settings? This is a regular page that opens in a browser using the router’s IP address. To be honest, the control panel on Tenda N3 itself looks very boring, is clearly outdated and there is no Russian language. I don’t know, maybe something has changed (or will change) in new firmware versions, but I still haven’t found new firmware for Tenda N3. This is a topic for another article. Yes, the control panel doesn't look very good, especially compared to its competitors. But, as it turned out, everything is very simple and well thought out, and this is the main thing for a router.

You need a device from which you will access the settings. The best option, of course, is a computer or laptop that would connect to the router via a network cable. But, if there are no such devices, then you can access Tenda settings from a tablet or phone via a Wi-Fi network.

How to log into the control panel on Tenda?

The first thing you need to do is connect the device from which we will enter the settings to your router. If you already have everything connected, then you can skip this. Computer/laptop, can be connected via cable. Small network cable comes with the router. Just connect your computer to the router.

If this is not possible, then you can connect via Wi-Fi. If you have a new router that has not yet been configured, then connect to the Wi-Fi network that will appear after turning on the router and will have the standard name “Tenda_6 digits”. The network will be without a password, so there should be no difficulties connecting. Just in case, .

If everything is connected, then you can continue.

Go to the control panel of the Tenda router at 192.168.0.1 or tendawifi.com

Everything is simple here. The address for entering the settings is indicated at the bottom of the device itself. Typically used address 192.168.0.1 .

Open any browser and write (or copy) the IP address in the address bar 192.168.0.1 (the address indicated on the router) Let's go through it.

If the router is new, you have not configured it yet, and have not changed the standard password to enter the settings, then most likely the control panel will open immediately. You can continue setting up your router.

But, you may be asked for a password to access the settings. Default, just leave the "Password" field blank and press Ok. It seems that the login does not need to be specified, but by default it is - admin.

If your password (or empty field) doesn’t fit, the “Password” field is simply cleared and that’s it, Tenda doesn’t go into settings, then most likely the password has been changed. If you don’t know it, then you need to reset the router settings. There's a recessed button Reset, press it with something sharp and hold for 10 seconds.

Standard data for accessing the control panel:

  • IP address - 192.168.0.1
  • Password - leave blank
  • Login - admin

That's all. If something doesn’t work out for you, the settings don’t open, you can’t access the page at 192.168.0.1, etc., then , in which I collected everything possible reasons and their decisions on this issue.

Tenda routers are popular primarily because of their price. This manufacturer has several budget models that are perfect for home use and for not very demanding users. I recently purchased one such model, this is the Tenda N301 router, which we will configure in this instruction.

Good router for my money, which I think will do its job. All that is needed is to configure it correctly, which is what we will do now. Let's take a closer look at the process of connecting the Tenda N301, logging into the control panel, setting up an Internet connection, and setting up a Wi-Fi network. That is, everything basic settings, which are necessary for the operation of the router.,

Tenda N301: connecting and entering settings

First we need to install and connect the router. It all depends on what device you will be setting it up from. If from a laptop or desktop computer, then at the time of setup I advise you to connect to the router via the network cable that you will find in the kit. We also connect power to the router.

Internet (cable from provider) connect to the WAN port.

You can connect to the router via Wi-Fi network. By default, the router distributes a Wi-Fi network with the factory name. Network without password (we will install it during the setup process). And if you are asked for a password, try “12345678”. My network looks like this:

You can even connect to this network from a phone or tablet and configure the router.

The main thing is that your device is connected to Tenda N301.

Please note that immediately after connecting to the router, you may not have access to the Internet. This is because we have not yet configured the router to connect to the provider. This is fine. To enter the router settings, we do not need an Internet connection. You don't need to run any connections on your computer!

To enter the Tenda N301 settings, launch any browser and go to 192.168.0.1 .

The address for logging into the control panel, the factory password, and the MAC address are indicated on the sticker on the bottom of the router.

Specify the password and click Ok.

You will see a page with the most important settings. Where you need to indicate the type of Internet connection, set the necessary parameters, and change the WiFi network password. All settings can be set on this page, if it is more convenient for you. I advise you to click on the “Basic settings” link and open the advanced settings of the Tenda N301 router, where we will configure everything.

Setting up an Internet connection (WAN)

Check if you have connected the Internet to the router in the WAN port. This could be a cable from your Internet provider, or from a modem. I showed how to connect in the photo above.

The most main setting. We need to set the parameters so that the router can connect to the Internet. Otherwise, we will have a WI-FI network, but without access to the Internet.

Important! You need to know what type of Internet connection your Internet provider uses (Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP). And the corresponding parameters that depend on the specific type of connection: login, password, server address.

Also, it would be good to clarify whether there is a link to MAC address.

If your provider uses the Dynamic IP (DHCP) connection type without binding to a MAC address, then the Internet through the router should work without configuration, since the DHCP connection type is the default.

If the provider binds by MAC address, then you can clone it in the settings on the “MAC Address Cloning” tab. Or call your provider and ask for a new MAC address. And dictate the router address.

You can immediately go to the section with setting up a Wi-Fi network.

Setting up PPPoE on Tenda N301

We do this:

  1. In the settings you need to go to the "WAN connection setup" tab.
  2. In the drop-down menu "
  3. Specify the login and password that your Internet provider gives you.
  4. Address mode: Dynamic.
  5. Check if the "Connect automatically" option is selected.

Click Ok to save the settings.

If you have set all the parameters correctly, the router should connect to the Internet.

Setting up PPTP or L2TP

  1. Open the "WAN connection setup" tab.
  2. Select the connection type "PPTP/Russia PPTP", or L2TP (depending on what type of connection your provider uses).
  3. Set "Server Address".
  4. Specify your login and password.
  5. Ok to save the settings.

It is important to understand! If you previously used a high-speed connection on your computer to connect to the Internet, you no longer need to do this. Now the router will do this. We have just configured this connection. The main thing is to do it right.

When the Internet is working through the router, you can proceed to setting up the Wi-Fi network.

Setting up Wi-Fi on Tenda N301. Setting a password

We only need to change the name of the Wi-Fi network and set a Wi-Fi password.

Go to the "Wireless Mode" - "Basic WIFI Settings" tab.

In the "Name" field Wi-Fi networks(SSID)" specify the name of your Wi-Fi network. You can leave the standard network name. If necessary, you can enable the guest network there. Click Ok to save the settings.

Select "Mixed WPA/WPA2" from the "Version" drop-down menu. In field " WIFI password"Create and enter a password. The password must be at least 8 characters long. Click Ok to save the settings.

After rebooting the router it will appear WiFi network with a new name. To connect to it you will need to specify the password you set. You can reboot the router from the control panel.

This completes the setup of Tenda N301. But I advise you to go into the settings again and change the factory password admin, which is used to enter the router settings, to something else.

Change password admin

This can be done on the “System Tools” - “Change Password” tab. We just indicate Old Password(factory admin) and the new password twice. Click ok.

Try not to forget the new password, otherwise you will not be able to access the settings. And you have to do it full reset Tenda N301 router settings. And you can reset using the WPS/RST button. You need to press it and hold it for about 10 seconds.

You can ask questions in the comments. Best wishes!

Tenda routers, along with inexpensive products from other Chinese manufacturers, are actively conquering the wireless router market. One of the typical representatives is the Tenda F3 router.

Review, parameters of the Tenda F3 router

Despite its quite affordable price (partly depending on the cost of delivery to a specific locality), the Tenda F3 router has impressive parameters for modern users.

Compared to its previous brother - N301, the Tenda F3 router is thin, more elegant and stylish.

The Tenda F3 router is eye-catching

Three antennas are better than two - the Wi-Fi coverage area becomes wider and faster, overcoming obstacles easier.

There are still minor differences from the N-150/300/301

Like the same N301 model, the F3 router has the same 3-port LAN router, not counting the nearby Ethernet jack for the provider cable. The reset button is also combined with the WPS function (access for gadgets and PCs without having to enter a password).

The F3 display panel is quite informative

Indication of Tenda F3 operating modes in a balance between strictly necessary for work and unnecessary. The cut of the antennas towards the end is a signature feature of Tenda routers.

Ventilation, like many Chinese routers that “like” to overheat, does not allow the F3 to often “freeze” due to overheating - the company did not skimp on numerous oblong holes. The ideal solution would be to keep the router near a window, ventilation shaft or front door.

In addition to the router itself, the package includes a power adapter, a LAN cable, a disk with programs and an instruction manual.

With a Wi-Fi radio subsystem capacity of 300 Mbit/s, the speed cable internet, you won’t get more than 100 Mbit/s on gadgets and laptops. The reason is that the router does not have a gigabit LAN router: even if Rostelecom delivers 300 Mbit/s via GPON cable tomorrow, the maximum speed of such a channel will still be “cut off” to 100 without taking into account the internal speed limit on the LAN - Wi-Fi bus . For Tenda F3 it is not recommended to take an unlimited limit greater than 100 Mbit/s - it will be useless.

Initial setup of Tenda N301 and PC

Before setting up the Internet and others, no less useful features, check the LAN connection of the PC from which the setup is being done, and change the administrator password F3

Checking PC connection to Tenda F3

Automatic acquisition of IP addresses allows you not to configure gadgets and PCs every time they are connected to the router.

If you change the IP values at the slightest (even to empty ones), restart Windows. This is necessary for the new IP setting to take effect.

If you will use manual IP configuration profiles again, you will need a third-party application that switches the adapter to certain IP address values, for example, NetSetMan.

Changing the administrator password on the Tenda F3 router

Use the default address 192.168.0.1 and the word “admin” as the username and password. Enter this data in your browser to get into the Tenda F3 settings.

Enter the password as Admin

Go to the submenu “System Tools - Change Password”.

Enter the new administrator password twice

Enter the previous Tenda N301 administrator password. Enter and re-enter the new password, press the “Save” button.

In the Russian translation of the web interface, there are sometimes gross errors - this is not uncommon for low-budget Chinese technology. These errors have been corrected during the presentation of instructions for Tenda F3.

Proceed with general settings of Tenda N301.

Setting up the LAN network of the Tenda F3 router

Before setting up the Internet and IPTV, opening ports to the desired server on your LAN and optimizing the management of Tenda F3 settings, set up the operation of the router’s local network, including connecting gadgets to the router via Wi-Fi.

Checking the LAN on the Tenda F3 router

The LAN setting specifies the gateway address - without it the router would not work. Give the command “Basic settings - LAN settings” and enter the IP of the router’s main gateway.

Enter the default gateway IP

The DHCP server distributes IP addresses from the numbering range specified in the additional LAN settings. The DHCP function eliminates the need for users to configure each gadget separately.

The router will restart with the new LAN settings. The remaining IP addresses, if you specified a small interval that does not cover 253 addresses in the local network rule, are available for manual settings on the devices themselves.

For example, when the IP range lies within the range 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.200, then, when manually configuring another gadget or PC, you can specify an address from the range 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99 or 192.168.0.201 - 192.168.0.254.

Wi-Fi settings on Tenda F3

Wi-Fi setup includes repeater mode configuration. A Wi-Fi repeater not only distributes the Internet, but also consumes traffic from other routers that already have Internet access, and also deploys a wireless local area network (WLAN).

Access point mode on Tenda F3

It is necessary not only to configure the Wi-Fi network parameters, but also to create a secure network to which no unaccounted smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC will connect.

Do the following.

The Tenda F3 router will restart with the new Wi-Fi settings.

Setting up Wi-Fi security

The more advanced Wi-Fi network security is applied, the more likely it is that it will not be bypassed by strangers.

Now, the first time you log in from a device that has not yet connected to the router since changing the security settings, you will need to either enter the Wi-Fi network password or press the WPS button on the router.

Setting up a repeater on Tenda F3 and accessing the Internet

Before accessing the Network via WAN cable, it is useful to test access to the Network using another “distributor”: a smartphone, tablet or laptop in virtual Wi-Fi hotspot mode, your 4G/Wi-Fi router, or any of the neighboring routers. The source of Internet traffic is also the open access point of the nearest cafe, cinema or distribution center, or a Wi-Fi hotspot in the nearest recreation park.

To set up a “wireless bridge to Wi-Fi repeater” connection (this is a repeater), do the following.

The router will restart in repeater mode, connect to another router and gain access to the Network through it. Your gadgets and PCs will go online using traffic relayed from a nearby router.

Setting up the Internet on the Tenda F3 router

Internet via cable, be it ADSL or (G)PON access (the second is nothing more than “fiber to the house/apartment”), uses the latest advances, including VPN traffic encryption using PPTP/L2TP technology.

Setting up PPPoE access on Tenda F3

PPPoE is a high-speed protocol that uses user verification using login and password. Without authorization using a password, there will simply be no access to the Internet.

The router will connect to the Network using the PPPoE protocol.

Setting up PPTP on Tenda F3

The PPTP protocol is a VPN encryption used in any unsecured networks. Encryption is necessary when, for example, file-sharing and peer-to-peer networks are used - in particular, BitTorrent, DirectConnect++, eDonkey and other services.

As an example, here is the generalized web interface of Tenda routers.

Tenda F3 will connect to the Network using a PPTP connection.

Setting up L2TP on Tenda F3

Like PPTP, L2TP is a follow-up to PPTP VPN encryption. All Russian providers support PPTP and L2TP encryption.

The Tenda F3 router will restart and go online using the L2TP protocol.

Network access on F3 with static IP

Static IP addresses are something without which there would be no Internet. Each server has its own static IP (gateway). The “Static IP” service is also useful when you need to organize quick access to your local network from the outside, for example, remote access to objects from anywhere in the world that have video surveillance.

The Tenda F3 router will go online using fixed IP addresses.

Setting up IPTV on Tenda F3

The IPTV function is active by default, connect immediately IPTV set-top box to any of the Tenda F3 LAN sockets. No special IPTV settings not required for Tenda F3. Turn on the monitor - it should display a list of channels downloaded from the streaming provider’s server. The IPTV service must also be active on your tariff (for pure fiber optic providers it is included in the tariff payment).

Some distributors claim that some Tenda router models do not support IPTV services. The solution is to try to find a ready-made software “custom” for F3 less than 2 MB in size. Or, if you are well versed in programming, process the existing one (or its latest update), making a “backup” just in case ( backup) contents of flash memory, most likely using the operating Linux system and auxiliary utilities for it. All Tenda F3 reprogramming operations are performed via a LAN cable - at your own peril and risk.

Port forwarding on Tenda F3

Port forwarding is needed when, for example, in the gaming room of an Internet cafe, a game server with Internet access is running on the administrator’s PC (multiplayer games for people from different cities).

The software port forwarding tools on Tenda routers are user-friendly and significantly simplified.

The N301 router will restart and begin working with ports to the desired server in accordance with the specified port forwarding patterns. Log in from any PC or gadget to a server that has open ports, and enter the IP address and port in the browser address bar, for example, 192.168.0.11:301 (if, for example, ports 300–400 were open to the server 192.168.0.11).

Manage Tenda F3 settings

Full control of Tenda F3 router settings includes:

  • reset router settings to factory settings;
  • restarting the router (if there is a software problem, for example, a freeze);
  • updating or reinstalling firmware.

Tenda N301 also supports backing up settings, as well as restoring them from a previously created copy. A copy of the settings can be saved to a separate file. In addition to all of the above, remote web management of the router is supported - for this you need the “Static IP” service obtained from your provider.

Resetting the Tenda F3 router

A soft reset of the Tenda F3 router is performed from the submenu “System tools - Factory settings”.

The reset button will cancel all previously changed settings F3

The button of the same name to reset the router to its original settings will allow you to reconfigure the Internet, local network and IPTV after restarting the Tenda N301, as well as check the Wi-Fi settings if something went wrong.

Tenda F3 router firmware update

Subscribe in advance for the latest updates for the F3 model. Installing firmware from another Tenda router model may lead to the need to completely reprogram the router, which cannot always be achieved at home, with only a LAN cable connection at hand.

Select the firmware and confirm its download to the router

The command “System Tools - Firmware Update” opens the tool for updating/reinstalling the current firmware version. The "Browse" button allows you to find a pre-downloaded firmware file for F3 using the built-in " Windows Explorer", after which you should press the firmware update button of the same name. The router will download and install the firmware and restart. All your previous settings may be deleted.

Video: firmware and configuration of the Tenda F3 router

The instructions tell you how to configure the Tenda W303R, W308R, W309R routers via the WEB interface, since installation of software or drivers on the user’s computer is not required. Setting up Tenda W316R And setting up Tenda N3 performed similarly. All settings are available through the router's WEB interface. All you need to set up is a browser (Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer).

To start setting up, connect the router to your computer via a network cable. In properties network connection set to automatically obtain an IP address and DNS servers (usually these are the default settings).

Unlike Beeline, select in the field Mode PPPOE. In field Check enter your login (issued to you by your provider), and in the field Password enter password. Save your settings.

Security Settings

To ensure that no one but you can access your router’s settings via the Internet, block access to the router from the outside. To do this, uncheck Inclusion On the page Security setup → Remote control WEB.

To ensure that no one except you has access to the router settings and cannot guess the password to change the network settings, change the standard password admin. To do this, go to the page System Tools → Password Correction and fill in the fields: one with your old password, and the other two with your new password. Save your settings.

WiFi setup

Tenda N3 has a built-in access point (AP) and supports WPS mode for simplified WiFi setup. Thus, there are two ways to configure WiFi: via WPS or via WEB interface.

Let's use the second method and configure wireless network via WEB interface. To do this, go to the page Wireless Network Installation → Basic Wireless Network Settings. Check the Enable wireless function checkbox. If you want your wireless network to have a name different from the standard one, enter in the field Primary SSID your network name.

If you want to improve the security of your WiFi network so that only those who know it can connect to it SSID identifier, turn off Broadcast SSID. This can complicate the connection process for inexperienced users who do not know the exact name of your network, so usually this is not required and it is enough to set a password to access the network.

Option AP Isolation allows you to make sure that users working through Tenda N3 cannot contact each other, but can only access the Internet. In this case, you will not be able to exchange files over the local network and use other intranet services. Enable this option only if you need to isolate WiFi network users from each other for some reason.

The last step of setup WiFi connections in Tenda N3 is to set a password to protect the network. If your network is open, then anyone can connect to it and use your Internet for free. Therefore, if you do not want such a development of events, go to the page Installing a wireless network → Security and select Security mode WPA2-PSK for the maximum level of protection. In field Password, enter a password (at least 8 characters long) that will be known to those who are allowed to connect to your WiFi network. Save your settings.

Congratulations! You have just successfully configured your wireless network and protected it from unauthorized access. Now only you and those to whom you give the password will be able to use your WiFi network via Tenda N3 router.

The Tenda router is a representative of the budget segment. Due to its low cost, this brand is quite popular. The devices are manufactured by a Chinese company. Although this brand cannot compete with more famous ones, the routers are quite capable of providing the user with a stable connection and fairly good performance. This equipment copes well with the basic functions of a router, and works not only with local network, but also with wireless (Wi-Fi).

In principle, such capabilities are quite sufficient for home use. The coverage area will be enough for a standard apartment or house (the size of the radius depends on the specific model). You can provide Internet not only to a PC, but also to other devices, for example, a laptop, tablet, smartphone. Also, with the help of this router, Wi-Fi is distributed to all devices that are equipped with a wireless module.

This article will tell you how to set up Tenda brand equipment. The algorithm of actions is suitable for almost all models. The manufacturer tried to make the setup process as simple as possible. The user does not need to install additional software and drivers. All you need to do is go to the web interface and select the appropriate options. How exactly to do this will be described in detail below.

Standard setting

How to enter the settings of the Tenda router? This question is often asked by users who do not yet have experience in operating this type of equipment. The first thing you need to do is connect the device. To do this, you need to take the provider cable and insert it into the connector marked Internet or WAN. After that, the PC and the router (LAN port) are connected using a patch cord. Then both devices turn on. On the main device (computer, laptop), you need to check the properties network connection. It is important that automatic retrieval of DNS servers and IP addresses is activated here. Now you can proceed directly to setting up the Tenda router. To do this, open a browser on a computer that is connected to the network locally. It is by using it that you can get to the web interface. As a rule, the router address is standard. It consists of eight digits separated by a period - 192.168.0.1. This code is entered in the address bar and Enter is pressed. If the sequence of actions is correct, a window with the heading “Authorization required” will appear in front of the user. There are two lines here. The first is the username (login) and the second is the password.

If the router is new, then when connecting for the first time you need to enter the word admin in one and the other line. After that, click on the “Login” button. After a few seconds, the router menu with basic settings will open. Here you are asked to select the connection type and protect the wireless network. In order to access advanced options, you will need to go to the “Advanced Installation” tab. The choice of parameters that are necessary to activate the Internet directly depends on the provider, or more precisely, they must be identical. You can find out the type of connection, login, and password from the contract or by calling the service provider.

L2TP

Setting up the Tenda router for those who use the services of the Beeline provider will be as follows:

  • Enter the menu (described above).
  • Go to the “Advanced installation” item. A window with a control panel will open in front of the user, in which there will be the following tabs: “System Status”, “DNS Installation”, “Bandwidth Control”, “WAN Installation” and others.
  • The next step is to select a submenu. We are talking about the “WAN Installation” item.
  • The menu that opens will display nine lines. The first is where the mode is selected. In this case - L2TP.
  • Set the server address. It is confirmed with the provider.
  • Enter account details. Typically this is the account number.
  • The password specified in the agreement is written in the next line.

In principle, this is quite enough to set up the Internet, so it is not recommended to change anything in the lower lines.

PPPOE

Those who use the services of Rostelecom, DOM.RU, TTK need to configure the Tenda router by selecting the PPPOE connection type. The algorithm of actions is the same as described above with L2TP mode. The only difference is that in the “Mode” line you will need to select PPPOE from the drop-down list. Next, enter your password and login and confirm with the “Apply” button. The remaining settings, as in the first case, should be left unchanged.

DHCP

Setting up the Tenda router with a dynamic IP is quite simple. The user only needs to log into the web interface. Then go to the “WAN Installation” item and in the “Mode” line set the connection type to DHCP. Next, confirm the action. No additional settings are required.

Security Settings

An integral criterion for Internet surfing is security. This point must be taken into account when setting up the Tenda router. You can change the settings in the “Security Settings” tab. In order to limit access to the router menu, you need to go to the “WEB Remote Control” item and uncheck the box next to the “Enable” column. In this case, you can configure the equipment only from a locally connected device.

It is also recommended to change the standard login and password that is requested before logging into the web interface. This can be done in the “System Tool” item, “Password Correction” tab. It wouldn’t hurt to use a MAC address filter, for example, indicating only those that can connect to the Internet, adding them to the appropriate list.

How to set up WiFi?

The Tenda router provides the user with both a local and wireless network. As for the latter, it needs to be configured. To do this, go to the “Wireless network installation” item in the menu. A window with four main tabs will open in front of the user. First you need to select “Basic wireless network settings”. First of all, the user checks the box next to “Enable wireless function”. After this, in the Primary SSID line, enter the network name, which will be displayed when devices connect via Wi-Fi. It can consist of both letters and numbers.

Naturally, it is necessary to protect the wireless network from intrusions. First of all, in the “SSID Broadcasting” column, activate “Enable”. Next, select WPA2-PSK mode and come up with a complex password. After confirmation, a reboot will occur. Next, check the signal using any device. If you can’t connect to the Internet, you can reset the settings on the Tenda router and specify all the parameters again. They must be entered very carefully, without making mistakes. There are two ways to return the device to factory settings: through the menu or by pressing the Reset key.
