Yandex and Google are better. Which is better: Yandex or Google? Which maps are better - Google or Yandex

Most recently, Google complied with the requirement of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation - it provided Android users with a choice of search engine in standard browser Chrome. Now, after installing the latest version or using a special settings menu, everyone can choose how to search for information on the Internet: Yandex, Google and Mail.Ru. Which one is better? Let's take a closer look.

Without moving on to the search itself, let’s evaluate home page convenience"The Magnificent Three" Let's start with Google:

Traditionally ascetic home Google page in the center contains only a line where you can enter your request. To get to the rest of the company’s services, you need to click the button with the grid. From there you can read news, go to mail or maps. If you want more on the main page, then you need to install either the main one for Android and iOS. There, all services mixed with a search bar are immediately displayed on the main screen.

Yandex did not skimp on the functionality of the main page in mobile version. The site is literally crammed with all possible services from the Russian company, and upon entering it immediately asks for access to the location. If allowed, the main page will immediately show a block with a cafe near you, and also adapt the Yandex.Traffic widget. I know many people who use Yandex solely because of its convenient home page. It is described as some kind of store where you go for one thing, but forget about it, and at the exit you have a cart full of various goods, except for that very one.

If Google's home page is ascetic, then Mail.Ru's is simply the height of minimalism. In the bad sense of the word, since there are no information cards, interactive elements, etc. on it. If we select news in the menu, the site will kindly offer us to “search for news” in 2017. I think this is where we can finish the review of the main Mail.

We carry out further testing on two parameters: locality and convenience. Read more about each parameter in the corresponding subheadings.

Locality

This parameter determines the extent to which a particular search engine is optimized for the needs of users in the CIS region, in particular from Russia. For a more visual demonstration, many search queries were related to the provincial city of Bryansk.

First, let's look at how three search engines understand local colorful words and the context of their use. For example, the name of the city of Chelyabinsk is often abbreviated as “person”. What if you enter the query “person routes”:

Google and Yandex understood what I wanted from them, but Mail didn’t.

How well do the three search engines know the great and mighty Russian language? Let's ask them for help in resolving a popular error - theirs or theirs:

Google responds to such a request with a brief help from a third-party site, explaining that the first option makes the speech rude and low. “Search No. 1 in Russia” even when entering a query shows the correct answer, but when you go to the search engine, no help is given - we’ll take your word for it. But Mail.Ru did neither one nor the other - it simply gave Gramota.ru as the first result. Could be worse.

Let's throw in the tricky query “Europe time” to the search. It is implied that we will see the opening hours of the large shopping center "Europe". Let's see what they show us:

Quite expectedly, the more global Google produced a table of time zones in major European cities. But Yandex, in the second block, figured out to show information about the shopping center along with opening hours. The second Russian search engine disappointed with the lack of both.

Now let's move on to a purely local story - to a search with location included. Let's try to find us a place where we can have lunch:

It’s funny, but only Google managed to understand us, although the first result was an analysis of the word “lunch” itself. Immediately in second place was a map with a list of local establishments. For some reason, Yandex decided to teach us how to spell a word, just like Mail.

How about ordering a pizza?

Nothing has changed in the search for a good corporation, but Yandex has improved. It’s just a pity that the engine’s “thinking” needs to be pushed by the name of the city.

To sum up the locality parameter, we can say that Yandex often has a more modern database of organizations. For example, when searching for a cafe, Google showed me an eatery that has not existed for a couple of years - “Rise”. Yandex removed it a long time ago. In 2GIS, which is used by Mail.Ru search, this cafe also no longer exists.

The same situation is with bank branches and other points on the map. For example, Google has no information about the branch of Eastern Express Bank, which a year ago belonged to another bank.

Moreover, on Google, even on the map, branches of this no longer existing bank “Uniastrum” are marked. In Yandex and Mail.Ru the maps are more up-to-date. Eventually: Yandex is more “localized” and has up-to-date information base in the Russian Federation and CIS countries; Google is a little worse in this regard, but you can use it; Mail.Ru is in last place.

Convenience

Convenience refers to the ability of a search engine to quickly provide necessary information for trivial requests. For example, some kind of chart, company information card or built-in services for ordering some services.

Let's start with the trivial - we'll ask you to display the weekend schedule in June:

Yandex showed full list weekends for 2017, except standard Saturdays and Sundays. Google limited itself to links to sites, but Mail.Ru was a little surprising - it showed a calendar with marked weekends.

Let's compare information cards for objects like computer games, for example, the old Gothic, which came out at the beginning of the 2000s:

In all three search engines the description is completely different, but in Google the card is the most meager - only a link to Wikipedia indicating the developer and series. The most popular search engine in Russia gave a rating on Metacritic, as well as more detailed information from Wikipedia. Mail.Ru, in addition to the usual description, also provides links to descriptions of the games in the series, the engine, the role-playing system and other features - very good.

Let's move on to one of the most popular functions - calculations:

There's a lot to talk about here. In Google search, when you enter some kind of mathematical query, a small calculator with the calculated expression is shown. In addition to receiving the result, the user gets the opportunity to continue calculations or solve some other problem - very convenient. In Yandex, the approach is different, and in many ways more convenient. When you enter a query in a line, the system immediately understands it, writes it mathematically and displays the result - you don’t even need to go to the search itself. Mail.Ru traditionally disappointed with links to its own “Answers”.

Let's look at how unit converters work. Let's set a not-so-simple conversion option - micrometers to meters:

The Google conversion widget shows the number of meters in one micrometer as a formula in the format 10 to the minus X power. The “Search No. 1 in Russia” widget is more understandable - in it you can set the number of micrometers and get the usual number with zeros after the decimal point. Mail again refuses to convert and count.

Let's try another function with a verbal trick in action. Let’s enter the query “anthill calorie content”. It is clear that we are talking about a cake called anthill and its calorie content:

The “good corporation” search engine correctly recognized our request and showed the calorie content of the cake in the form of a table with proteins, fats and carbohydrates. But Yandex returned only a single calorie content indicator, but in the next request it showed a link with a convenient snippet that lists all the ingredients of the cake. Mail.Ru limited itself to links.

Let's try to order a taxi directly through the search. Let’s enter a request for Moscow, since we can’t count on advanced functionality for the regions:

Yandex has long ousted its once strong competitor Rambler and almost completely absorbed the Mailru service. A similar situation is happening in the global market, where Google has left the underrated Bing from Microsoft and the original DuckDuckGo far behind.

Search engines Google and Yandex are practically the only popular services on the Russian-language Internet. The domestic service, registered for some reason in distant Holland, still holds the leadership bar in Russia, but the global American leader World Wide Web already breathing down his back. If we look at both search engines superficially, answering the question of which is better: “Yandex” or “Google”, then inexorable statistics take the side of the latter. The domestic service is the undisputed leader for desktop computers on the RuNet, while the American service is not only system units and laptops, but also a huge audience with mobile gadgets.

Of course, the question of which is better: Yandex or Google is not so pressing for ordinary users of Android devices, because all the American services are already preinstalled for them. Even the Federal Antimonopoly Service recognized the fact of discrimination against other market participants and punished Google for violating competition law. So, the two largest services on the RuNet. Let's find out which is better: Google or Yandex? Let us outline the main differences, notable features, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of both search engines.

Interface

Let's meet by clothes and figure out which is better: Yandex or Google in terms of interface usability. The American search engine attracts with its classic simplicity and asceticism. On the main page of Google you can see only a search bar and a couple of buttons to go to other sublevels.

Having opened the domestic search engine, we see a whole pun of news, intrusive additions and a lot of links to Yandex services. Moreover, this whole motley vinaigrette is richly flavored with advertising links and blocks. Literally all Russian companies without exception, including Rambler and Mailru, have distinguished themselves with a similar interface. Apparently, this is just some kind of feature of Runet. Some users consider such a busy start page to be quite appropriate, where you can immediately find out the latest news, get information on traffic jams and weather forecasts. There are a minority of such people, so here everyone decides for himself what is closer to him and what is better - “Yandex” or “Google”. If you like minimalism and search is a priority, then the American service is your option. Well, for those who like to linger on a page and scroll through interesting (and sometimes not so interesting) information, looking for it among advertising blocks, a domestic search engine is quite suitable.

Functional

Let's look at how Yandex differs from Google in terms of functionality. The capabilities of both search engines are approximately the same. Both there and there you can find a similar set of tools: news, roads, maps, videos, music and other related surroundings.

As for ease of use, Google is worse than Yandex, although not by much. The latter's advanced search, as well as other functionality, looks more clear and beautiful. The pleasant visual component of the Yandex advanced search allows you to quickly navigate through all the columns, drop-down lists and markers. While with Google you will have to work hard to find the right tool. But here again, this is largely a matter of habit, and everyone decides for themselves what is better - Yandex or Google. It is also worth noting that the American search engine has a competent voice search for landline systems, and not just for mobile ones. Although Yandex has launched its similar service, Alice, it is still too crude to compete with the Google lady.

Advertising

Let's figure out which is better: Yandex or Google in terms of the abundance of advertising and its aggressiveness. If you haven't taken care to hide advertisements using third-party browser add-ons like AdBlock or Privacy Badger, then the following picture emerges.

There is much more PR of everything and everyone in Google. Even without taking into account the user’s clearly commercial requests, the search itself will contain at least three lines of advertising, and the entire right side will be literally littered with banners and text ads.

In Yandex this matter is a little better. Directly in the search results, upon request, you will find three clearly marked advertising lines, and on the right half there will be a nice media-contextual banner without unnecessary “noise”. But, as mentioned above, if you install additional browser plugins on Yandex and Google, then all sorts of PR will become noticeably less, or even disappear altogether. Similar add-ons can be found on the official resources of browser developers, and in large quantities, so there shouldn't be any problems here.

Search Engine

This is one of the main parameters that determines who is cooler - Google or Yandex. Each service refines its search engine every day. It is quite complex and confusing, but nevertheless allows you to give the user the most relevant answer to the question asked in a matter of seconds.

The power of the American search engine servers is quite enough to process the request in real time. Updates occur every day, so if you compare the Internet of Yandex and Google, the latter has the most up-to-date information.

For example, with the hot query “Syria,” the American search engine produces current news on the Syrian conflict. While Yandex first of all offers to get acquainted with Wikipedia, some geographical features, and only then, somewhere in the middle of the page, displays a news feed.

In addition, Google is an international product, so it is great for searching in foreign languages. But in this case there is also a downside. Why is Yandex better than Google? Because the latter tries to cover everything, but it doesn’t always succeed, while the domestic search engine ties itself to the regions and produces really high-quality and relevant results for a regional query.

If Google copes with current search results due to its numerous servers, then Yandex does not have enough capacity for such efficiency. The domestic search engine simply caches a good part of the requests, and the user receives a pre-prepared answer. Such a solution allows you to instantly obtain the necessary information, but the latter will not always be relevant. So if your queries can be called standard (weather, movies, music, Wikipedia sections, etc.), then you will not notice the difference between Google or Yandex. If you need more specific and relevant information for some professional needs, then it is better to give preference to an American search engine.

Reviewers

For many, the determining criterion that will allow them to choose between Google or Yandex is search engine services and some additional applications. Among the latter, branded browsers appeared most often. Just as in the case of web versions of search engines, let's start with the interfaces.

Interface

Here we have a similar situation described above. Google Chrome is characterized by minimalism and the absence of “extra” buttons. Moreover, if you are not satisfied classic look browser, then in the settings you can always add a couple of panels and other “chips”.

In addition, the browser is not at all against integrations with its competitors, so you can always do “Yandex” home page in Google Chrome. We also mentioned the dominance of the “American” on all mobile gadgets running the Android platform, so many users are simply “forcibly accustomed” to Chrome.

The Yandex Browser interface is very similar to its American competitor. But unlike the latter, it is more understandable and any beginner who has discovered the Internet for the first time can understand it. The specificity of the domestic audience probably played a significant role here: it is easier for us to understand “ours” than to study “theirs.”

Speed

As for speed, there is almost no difference between the Google and Yandex browsers. They work on the same code, so the differences in bench tests showed minimal differences. The only thing worth clarifying is the availability of some browser features. Thus, Yandex has a special “Turbo mode” that allows you to compress streaming traffic on the search engine’s servers, thereby saving its consumption.

For owners of USB modems, this functionality came in handy. Google does not have a similar “trick,” but when it comes to opening serious and “heavy” web pages, it has succeeded here with its caching. But such a decision has a strong impact on random access memory. Many users have repeatedly called Chrome the most voracious browser. Therefore, if you have less than 4 GB of RAM, then it is better to install a domestic browser.

Functionality

If you are a professional web developer or a similar specialist, then the choice between browsers from Yandex and Google is quite obvious. The latter has a lot of plugins and add-ons that greatly facilitate working with specific content and codes. Yandex, alas, cannot boast of such diversity. The domestic search engine is good in many ways, but only if you are an ordinary user: it is beautiful, convenient, understandable and seems to be native, but it is not suitable for some serious business enterprises.

Cloud services

Let's consider cloud services from domestic and American search engines - Yandex Disk and Google Disk. Both options are excellent alternatives to flash drives and memory cards, so let’s figure out why they are good or bad.

The Yandex service provides its users with 10 GB of free storage for any information. The Disk web interface was distinguished by its clear and convenient menu branches, as well as its attractiveness. In addition, the speed of loading data into the cloud is slightly higher than that of a competitor from Google.

The only critical drawback that users often complain about is the lack of at least some built-in tools for working with the Microsoft office environment. Google Drive already offers 15 GB of space for storing files versus 10 for Yandex. The storage interface may not be as clear as in the first case, but you can still figure it out. One of the main advantages of the “cloud” from Google is the built-in editors for everything you can: documents, spreadsheets, photos, etc. It should also be noted that there is excellent synergy with office products from Microsoft. If you only need cloud services for storing files, then you can, in principle, choose any “Disk”. For more versatile work, the Google product is still more attractive. As for the security of your data, there are no differences here: both are strict with this, so no one will steal anything.

Cards

Another quite popular service is cards. Let's start, as usual, with the interface. A good half of the users liked the Google version of the design: everything is in its place, at hand and with clear tips.

But this is where the advantages of Google’s service, one might say, end. The capabilities of Yandex Maps are much wider and richer. Some call the domestic service the real ecosystem of the Runet, because almost everything is available here.

Yandex maps are especially useful for drivers:

excellent and clear navigation;

information about traffic accidents;

work on sites and detours; cameras;

online functionality “Conversations”;

important marks and markers.

Moreover, this is not a complete list of all the capabilities of the service. So here the choice is quite obvious in favor of the domestic search engine.

Summarizing

Comparing Yandex with Google seems simple, but at the same time difficult. Each search engine and related service is good for its category of users. Yes, they are both leaders and universal in almost everything. Analogies of services can be traced here and there. It is difficult and impossible to select and single out someone separately. If your activity is related to web development, codes, processing a lot of information, and diverse, then it is better to use an American search engine. It provides more relevant and flexible data based on user requests. In addition, Google Chrome has a lot of tools in the form of plugins and add-ons that will become indispensable for specific and professional needs. If you consider yourself an ordinary Internet user and you like the comfort and pleasant colors of a domestic search engine, then Yandex will be your excellent assistant in all your endeavors. He will quickly tell you about the latest news, show traffic congestion, explain the solution to incomprehensible school problems and tell you what is currently showing in cinemas. Domestic services from Yandex are distinguished by an intuitive and user-friendly interface, as well as a pleasant appearance.

In general, it is impossible to say anything definitely good or bad about our and foreign search engines. Both have advantages and disadvantages to approximately equal extent.

Today there are hundreds of search engines in the world, but the main ones are Yahoo, Bing, "Yandex" And Google. If the first two are not particularly popular among residents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, then the latter are constantly fighting with each other for the attention of users.

The search engines Yandex and Google are fundamentally different from each other. This lies not only in the site’s own ranking system, but also in the approach to displaying data. At the same time, name some search engine It is impossible to be better than the other, since each of them has its own set of pros and cons.

Google

This search engine is the most popular in the world. She started her work in 1997. During this time, the search engine has undergone a huge number of changes, and its design has changed several times. For the last time appearance and logo about a month ago.

The computer power of the Google search engine is enough to quickly index all sites in real time. A site can change its position in just a few hours, which is a big advantage of this search engine. For users, this means that the information found for any query will always be up-to-date.

The Google search engine is a global product, so it perfectly finds information in all languages of the world and from all countries. If you need to find some rare data, then Google will cope with this task best of all. From this plus comes a significant minus.

Due to the fact that the Google search engine is an international product, it cannot find high-quality data for some regional query, such as “Buy an iPhone 2G in Saratov.”

Yandex

The Yandex company launched its search engine in the same year 1997. This product was initially tailored for the Russian market, but over the past years the company has been actively developing in foreign countries.

The power of the Yandex search engine servers is not enough to instantly process all data, so most search queries are cached. This means that when the user enters a request, he will receive a pre-created page, which may no longer be relevant. This technology works quickly and extremely well, so most people don’t even notice that they are being given pre-generated data.

Exceptions to the cached list are sites that are processed by a fast robot. He can add new information to search results within an hour from the moment of publication so that users can quickly find it.

Searching for some latest information through Yandex is not the best idea precisely because of caching, but the Russian company’s search engine contains much fewer unnecessary sites spammed with advertising.

A big plus in the direction of Yandex search for residents of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and a number of other countries are regional opportunities. When performing any search query, like “Buy a first-generation iPad in Irkutsk,” the search engine will give the user a list of real stores that actually sell such a product.

Already, Yandex is negotiating with Microsoft to add a Russian search engine to Windows 10 for a number of countries as the default search. Windows 10 currently uses a search engine for all countries except China Bing, owned by Microsoft.

Conclusion

The Google search engine cannot be called better than Yandex, or vice versa. Each of these search engines is better suited for solving certain problems. It is better to use Russian Yandex to search for some goods in a certain region, and it would be wiser to search for regular information through Google, since it displays the latest and most relevant data.

Which is better: Yandex or Google? As Yandex likes to say, “Everything can be found!”, well, nothing was lost on Google! So let's figure out which search engine is better, Yandex or Google?

Having practically displaced or absorbed its closest competitors from Mail and Rambler, leaving behind exotics such as the underrated Bing and the original Duckduckgo, Russian Yandex and American Google today they actually dominate the Russian-language segment of the Internet.

“Domestic” Yandex, somewhat unpatriotically registered in Holland, in Russia still remains in charge in the field of information search, but its main competitor and world leader in the field of finding information, the search engine from Google, has long been breathing down its neck.

How the battle of the titans will end, what methods competitors use in the struggle for the attention, love and money of Russian-speaking users are certainly interesting questions, especially since search query statistics show a tendency towards a transition of leadership from conditional Russians to absolute Americans.

Google displaces Yandex from RuNet

According to the latest statistics, Yandex remains the main search engine for about half of Russian users; its positions are consistently high in all Russian-speaking CIS countries and even in Turkey. At the same time, the American search engine Google increases its influence in the field of search services by several percent every year.

By gnawing out pieces of the market for itself, Google responds more adequately to the latest trends in the IT world; for example, the company wisely played on mass distribution mobile devices and the increased need for software for them.

The main reason why Yandex continues to lose positions in RuNet what remains is the search engine itself, which has become the talk of the town among Webmasters. A strange, to put it mildly, system of website indexing, total commercialization, lack of full feedback from customers, intrusive advertising and promotion, these and other shortcomings have not only not been eliminated by the Yandex company over the many years of its comfortable existence, but have only become brighter.

As is known since 2012, Yandex, along with Vkontakte, has been recognized by the state as a strategically important enterprise.

In practice, this means that the company is not afraid of any storms, crises or customers leaving for competitors. There will be money anyway. It’s kind of stupid to strain, improve and improve in such greenhouse conditions. The main drawback of most state-owned enterprises, the reliance on Big Brother, who will always lend a shoulder if anything happens, has made its way to Yandex.

It’s not so easy to wait for quick help, and sometimes even an answer at all, from the Yandex support service; they have more important things to do:

  • Kerchief;
  • Classmates;
  • Twitter;
  • Leisurely eating boogers.

This is not to say that the company does nothing at all, algorithms and search technologies are periodically updated, interesting additions appear, filters are no longer as bad at screening out junk sites and content as before. But we must admit that all this is nothing more than a race for the leader. AND postal service, both the browser and the Yandex search engine are deeply secondary.

The secret of Yandex's success in advertising

The popularity of the Yandex search engine, as shown by personal experience, the practice and reviews of thousands of users, is not caused by its analytical core, system flexibility or convenience.

Advertising is precisely the force that allows Yandex to remain afloat. Who hasn’t encountered their annoying offers to install add-ons, which are not so much helpful as they are annoying? After the ascetic pages of Google, with the absence of obvious advertising, Yandex pages and applications are unpleasantly surprising with the abundance of commercial offers and add-ons, which are not easy for an ordinary user to disable.

There is nothing wrong with making a profit for a commercial enterprise; the opposite would be strange. But Yandex’s style of doing business raises questions, especially when compared with similar activities of Google. For some reason, Californians don’t go into your installer and do “ an offer that's hard to refuse“, while Google’s profit even without any Yandex.Bars is an order of magnitude higher than Yandex’s income.

Evaluation of Yandex and Google search results

Among the advantages of Google over other search engines it is worth noting greater stability of results, the speed of indexing in it is also beyond praise. That is why advanced users prefer to use it.

Among “Yasha’s” childhood illnesses, it is necessary to mention the Holy War he is waging against website optimizers and SEO links in particular. There is no doubt that it is high time to restore order in the RuNet, for this the company has developed a whole series of search algorithms, in many ways similar to Google Penguin and the entire Google Zootopia.

  • Magadan;
  • Snezhinsk;
  • Obninsk;
  • Minusinsk.

One of the main tasks was to reduce the ranking of sites using SEO links. However, during the testing period, any new system The search engine begins to experience fluctuations, which are expressed, among other things, in a wide range of positions returned. Moreover, “correct” sites are also among the victims.

Although Yandex supports nine languages, it is primarily aimed at a Russian-speaking audience, which greatly narrows its scope of application.

The issuance of English-language queries by Yandex and Google is fundamentally different. Google is more universal; you can work with it in any language and the quality of output is at the highest level.

To summarize, it can be stated that Yandex search engine success, not at all in the merits of the service he offers, but in the assertive advertising company and state protectionism. Subjectivism often plays a determining role when choosing a specific search engine; here, what is considered ideal is not what searches for information more effectively, but what which is “more beautiful” and better advertised. To a large extent, the popularity of Yandex still rests on the banal ignorance by many users the fact that their usual search engine is by no means the only one on our planet.

Both are worse. A sketch on an eternal theme. What is better, Google or Yandex?

Yasha and Gosha

If you look from the perspective of a webmaster, the question “which is better” is stupid.

It is very stupid for a webmaster to try to highlight the best search engine, since they each occupy approximately 50% of the share in the Russian market. Therefore, you need to work with two at once, there is no alternative to this.

Yandex, if you don’t have a completely new resource, if the article best answers the query, it is more likely to place it in the top (in my experience), while Google can give a position 3-5 lower, simply because for the general trust of the site and due to the lack of links.

My purely Russian queries (especially those aimed at people over 30+ years old) go much better in Yandex, but Google can catch up with younger people. Although a social network like VK can catch up even more (many times).

Services for webmasters (Metrika, Webmaster, Google search console, Google analytics) - all are good, but in fact Yandex is even better in some ways. Yandex's services are very convenient, understandable and easy; Google's is a little more complicated and clumsy, although of course Google also has everything you need.

Same with Yandex definitely better technical support (Plato). Google wasn't even close here. Yandex always answers questions from webmasters.

But from the user’s point of view, the situation is a little different and it seems to me that it’s definitely better here...

Google. I haven’t used Yandex to search for 6 years now. I just stopped and that’s it. I'm used to Google. And it seems to me that Google is more convenient, although to be honest, this is a matter of habit.

But for a Google user, if I sometimes go to Yandex (for example, check requests for my website, etc.), then after Google I feel nauseous from Yasha.

They offer to install this browser, but on the Yandex main page there is some bullshit.

You'll find everything you don't need

In general, both search engines are bad, since everything is the same in Google and Yandex got all this from Google. But Google is richer, they can afford to be less arrogant and use their resources and platforms for pressure in other ways.

The search engine browser is a brilliant solution of these companies to monopolize the position, but if chrome is a good, suitable browser, then the Yandex browser is... worse.

It is interesting to watch the war between Yandex and Google for the Russian market. Yandex is putting pressure on Google through the Antimonopoly Service (at least this service does something good for Russia) and they finally pushed through the decision to give Android users a choice of browser in Russia.

Previously, all Android smartphones had Google installed automatically, and this increased the share accordingly. This is not counting the built-in voice search, which is also via Google.

Don't forget that YouTube also belongs to Google.

Here, it’s similar to how Microsoft used to (and even now) push their browser onto all Windows operating systems; US antitrust officials pressed them for this a couple of times, and they did the right thing.

As a result, both of these search engines are monopolies and it’s a pity that there are no normal alternatives, they simply do not allow them to appear. But what’s funny is that Google continues to beat Yandex and eat up its share, and many of Yandex’s decisions seem questionable, such as canceling link ranking.

As a user, I choose Google, but as a webmaster, it’s stupid to choose just one thing.

In general, I think that search through search engines is dying. If, for example, mail.ru makes a unified search system in in social networks, then they will grab the entire market in no time. Now other things are in charge, the influence of links and word of mouth, branding are returning again (all this never went away), and a system of smart content recommendations is developing. People are using search less and less.

That's all. My other articles about promotion, SEO and promotion are here:

And I also invite you to my
