A few secrets from velcom:

  • Before your trip, check that the Mobile Internet and MMS services are working correctly;

  • Are you already abroad and find that roaming is not enabled? If you have access to Personal Area, you can connect. However, it is better and safer to take care of connecting the service in advance;
  • the cost and tariffication of mobile Internet in roaming - 10 or 50 KB each - depend on the tariff plans of subscribers and the countries in which they use the services mobile internet. Tariffing within the 500 MB package is 1 KB each.

Today, velcom international roaming is supported in 528 networks in 188 countries and territories. The number of operator networks and countries for 3G roaming is 301 networks in 129 countries and territories.

Activation of the service is possible in one of the following ways:

  • USSD request *141*3*2# call;
  • Based on a standard application sent through the A1 Belarus community on Viber or to the address Email [email protected];
  • Based on a standard application in A1 branded sales and service centers, in the office of official attorneys upon presentation of an identity document, as well as:

When contacted by the manager: a document confirming the authority of the manager;

When an authorized person applies: a power of attorney to represent the interests of a legal entity.

There is no charge for connecting to the service.

Memo to the subscriber

1. You should turn off your mobile phone before crossing the border with another country. Having arrived in the territory of another country, turn on the telephone. The network search performed after turning on the phone can be carried out in two ways: different ways: phone can choose cellular network both manually and automatically. As a rule, the automatic search mode is used by default.

2. If the mobile phone has registered in the network automatically (either the name of the local operator, or its network code, or all together), you can make and receive calls.
If registration does not take place automatically, in the phone settings you should set the network search mode to manual according to the phone instructions, find and select the “Networks” or “Select a cellular network” option.

3. After this, you need to search for new network(s). Either the name of the local operator, or its network code, or all together will appear on the device’s display.
If even after activation manual search network not found, contact your local operator for advice.

Attention! Your phone number does not change, i.e. All subscribers calling you must dial the number in the usual short format.

Rules for dialing numbers in roaming

Outgoing calls:

1. To call within your host country or to any city in the world, dial:

  • + – country code – city code – subscriber number.
  • + – country code – mobile network code – subscriber number
2. To call Belarus while roaming, dial:
  • +375 – city code – subscriber number;
  • +375 – mobile network code – subscriber number.

Calls to a roaming subscriber:

To call from Belarus to A1 number in roaming, dial:

  • from a fixed network telephone number in national format, for example, 8 029 1хххххх;

  • With numbers of other mobile operators in Belarus number in international or national format, for example, +375 29 1хххххх or 8 029 1хххххх.
  • from the A1 network number in 7-digit format, for example: 1xxxxxx.

Please note: calls to numbers ported to the A1 network from other operators must be made in national or international format.

Attention!

  • incoming calls in roaming are paid;
  • All incoming and outgoing calls in roaming are charged at 1 minute.
  • If you do not have the International Calls service enabled while roaming, you will only be able to make calls within your host country and receive all incoming calls. To make outgoing international calls and sending SMS Activation of the "International calls" service is required;
  • When activating the “International Roaming” service, a ban is automatically set*** on the use of conditional forwarding in roaming, which does not allow forwarding established under the conditions of “no answer”, “busy”, “unavailable” to work in roaming. To restore forwarding in roaming, you must disable the ban using the USSD request *117# call (in the territory of the Republic of Belarus). If the subscriber independently restores the forwarding, then when reconnecting to the International Roaming service, conditional forwarding will be allowed. In this case, the subscriber can independently set a ban on the use of conditional forwarding in roaming using the USSD request *117# call, after which conditional forwarding will not be provided in roaming.
  • if your phone has conditional forwarding installed, including to voicemail, then you will pay twice for the forwarded call: as for an incoming and outgoing call at roaming rates;
  • at incoming call When roaming, we recommend not to “drop” the call, because a connection may occur and such a call will be charged;
  • A1 company is not responsible for the quality and coverage area of roaming partner operators.
  • It should be taken into account that if the automatic network selection mode is set in the settings of your telephone and you have the “International Roaming” service active, then in the territory of Belarus you can freely register in the network of the operator - A1’s roaming partner. This can happen if the signal from the base station of a foreign operator is strong enough to receive and make calls, for example, at the border. As a result, all such calls will be charged at roaming rates.
  • In connection with the possibility of using analogue types of signaling, Internet telephony or number spoofing technology on international communication networks, we inform you that A1 does not guarantee subscribers the correct identification of the caller's number and, therefore, is not responsible in these cases, since such processes result for the legal framework for controlling international traffic by mobile operators;
  • If, after reading this leaflet, you still have any questions, be sure to check with the help desk specialists for all the details that interest you;

To do this you can:

Following these rules will make your trip successful and keep you in a good mood while abroad.

Rates

The cost of roaming services depends on the subscriber's tariff plan.

Roaming tariffs are for reference only and may change at the initiative of the roaming partner or due to currency fluctuations.
Please keep in mind that funds are debited while roaming as information about the communication services used in its network is received from the foreign operator. The final amount may be billed some time after the subscriber has actually used these services. In this case, a sharp change in the balance of the client’s personal account may be observed.

Attention!

    If you are you planning use the Internet/MMS in roaming, before traveling outside Belarus, make sure of the following:
  • When accessing Internet resources, as well as receiving/sending MMS, your phone uses access points corresponding to the connected services;
  • In the MMS settings, “Automatic reception” or “Reception always” is disabled and “Manual reception” or “Reception on request” is set. In this case, before downloading the MMS, the telephone will make a request to receive the MMS and only after your confirmation will download it;
  • applications operating in automatic mode (for example, E-mail client) have been switched to “on-demand” mode. To avoid automatic update software We recommend disabling the “Data roaming” option on telephones, operating system which allows you to do this;
  • shut down applications and the Internet browser gracefully.

To reduce Internet costs while roaming, use “Roaming packages for the Internet”.

    If you don't plan use the Internet/MMS in roaming before traveling outside Belarus:
  • in the MMS settings, select “Do not receive” - incoming MMS will not be downloaded by the phone;
  • Before crossing the border into the territory of the Republic of Belarus, you must disable the data transfer/mobile data function in the phone menu;
  • To avoid automatic software updates, we recommend disabling the “Data roaming” option in telephones whose operating system allows this.

Internet access in roaming is provided with the simultaneous availability of the services “International roaming” or SMS roaming, as well as Mobile Internet. Internet use while roaming is paid at roaming rates.

SMS roaming: you won’t be able to make calls, but you will receive messages

The best option if you are not going to call back or surf the Internet. Firstly, you will be in touch and will be able to notify your loved ones that everything is in order. Secondly, you will receive messages about transactions with your bank card if you have SMS notification enabled. And thirdly, SMS is often needed to connect to wi-fi, for example, at an airport.

As a rule, to activate SMS roaming, you need to send a message to a specific number before traveling (check with your operator). The cost of text messages will depend on what country you are in, what mobile operator you are connected to and what country you are sending the message to.

You will have to pay not only for outgoing messages, but also for incoming messages (that is, those sent to you). True, they will cost less.

For comparison, we selected four neighboring countries, to which Belarusians often go on vacation or for work, and compared how much it would cost to send a message to customers of the two largest mobile operators.

QUESTION PRICE

Connection: 3 rub. 81 kop.

Message cost: sending an SMS to Belarus from Russia or Ukraine will cost from 21 to 44 kopecks. (depending on the operator), and from Lithuania or Poland - 48 kopecks.

Connection: 2 rub. 83 kop.

Message cost: A message to Belarus from Russia costs from 19 to 65 kopecks. (depending on the operator), from Ukraine - from 19 to 58 kopecks, from Lithuania - 44 kopecks, and from Poland - 44 - 45 kopecks.

Connection: free (but the operator does not have a separate SMS roaming service; regular roaming is available to everyone by default)

Message cost: 18 kopecks

Regular roaming: charges not only for outgoing but also for incoming calls

This is a classic roaming option: you can not limit yourself to messages, but also call from abroad or receive a call. Of course, such conversations will cost more, but if this is necessary, then it is better to activate roaming. As in the case of SMS roaming, the cost of a minute of conversation depends on the country where you are and the country where you are calling, as well as on the foreign mobile operator. And you will have to pay not only for outgoing, but also for incoming calls.

QUESTION PRICE

A minute of call to Belarus from Russia costs from 1 rub. 81 kop. up to 3 rub. 6 kopecks (depending on the operator), from Ukraine - from 1 rub. 81 kopecks, from Lithuania - 1 rub. 32 kopecks, and from Poland - from 1 rub. 32 kopecks up to 2 rub. 91 kopecks Incoming calls are cheaper - less than a ruble per minute.

There are also special roaming packages, the price of which includes a certain number of call minutes and SMS. They are cheaper than regular roaming (for example, “Roaming.Vacation” costs 23 rubles 43 kopecks, it includes 30 minutes of incoming and outgoing calls and 20 outgoing messages), but they do not work in all countries.

A minute of call to Belarus from Russia costs from 1 rub. 48 kopecks up to 4 rub. 48 kopecks (depending on the operator), from Ukraine - from 1 rub. 77 kop. up to 7 rub. 52 kopecks, from Lithuania - from 1 rub. 24 kopecks up to 2 rub. 53 kopecks, and from Poland - from 1 rub. 18 kopecks up to 4 rub. 37 kopecks You can activate the “Excellent Roaming” service, where a conversation from the second to the fifth minute costs less, but it is paid: a day of use costs 51 kopecks.

A minute of conversation from neighboring countries costs 99 kopecks, from distant countries - 4 rubles. 50 kopecks

Only very wealthy people can afford to use mobile Internet in roaming: the cost of one megabyte starts from 3 rubles. and grows depending on the country and mobile operator. For example, in Lithuania, a megabyte of traffic costs 5 - 6 rubles. Therefore, if you decide to brag about your vacation to a friend and send him 10 photos with a total weight of 20 megabytes, then this pleasure will cost 100 - 120 rubles!

A foreign SIM card will help you save

Instead of roaming, there is an option to buy a new SIM card in the country where you are traveling. In salons cellular communications or supermarkets sometimes sell prepaid SIM cards: their price already includes a certain number of messages, minutes of calls (though it’s not always possible to call abroad) and Internet traffic. If you have used it all up and then want to take this SIM card on your next trip, you can top up your balance on the spot at the payment terminal or on the mobile operator’s website. Just check the prices first - they may be higher.

And back in June, roaming was canceled within the European Union. This means that if you buy a SIM card in Lithuania or Poland, you can use it almost throughout Europe and at the same rates. However, there is a nuance: the SIM card needs to be used more time in your “home” country, otherwise it may be turned off. For example, you cannot buy a SIM card in Lithuania and use it there for two days, and then another two weeks in Germany. The operator may notice that you spoke for less time in Lithuania and block your SIM card.

How to save on mobile communications Abroad?

Belarusian mobile operators have foreign partner operators. It is more profitable to use their services while roaming: messages and calls can cost 2-3 times cheaper! Before traveling, check with your operator about which network to connect to in your destination country. Once there, indicate in your phone settings that you want to select a cellular network manually and check the appropriate one. The fact is that usually abroad the phone connects to a network that has a better signal, and at some point it can disconnect you from a cheap operator.

Before your trip, turn off roaming data updates in your phone settings. Apps can sometimes download updates in the background, and if this happens overseas, the bill can be astronomical.

If someone calls you while roaming and you don’t want to talk, don’t hang up the call. Even such a connection will be counted as a minute of conversation. Wait until the person hangs up.

If possible, connect to wireless Internet - wi-fi. It is available in almost all hotels, cafes and shops, and it is free. Through popular instant messengers (Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram) you can not only send messages, but also make calls. It is better to leave roaming for emergency communications.

HAVE A QUESTION

Is it possible to set Internet restrictions while roaming?

On the Internet you can often come across stories like this: I went on vacation abroad, my phone started downloading updates, and as a result, I received a bill comparable to the cost of the trip. Is it possible to set a limit for yourself before traveling, if exceeded, roaming will simply turn off?

Unfortunately, there is no such possibility, they told us at the Velcom contact center.

And MTS explained that it is impossible to set such a limit in principle.

Information on roaming calls and data transfers is processed as files are received from roaming partners. In this regard, setting any limits will not allow for timely shutdown of the service,” the company said.

But mobile operators have special packages for the Internet abroad, which include a certain number of megabytes. As soon as you spend them, the Internet turns off.

AND AT THIS TIME

Will calls from the EU be cheaper in 2020?

Roaming in the EU has already been cancelled, the next step is to cancel it for countries participating in the Eastern Partnership program (an EU project to establish ties with post-Soviet countries). And these are Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Moldova.

If you are traveling to the Eastern Partnership countries from the European Union, roaming rates are very high. We plan to cancel it for these six countries. Of course, the cost of services will be determined by the mobile operator, but it will be low and affordable for everyone, Boris Yaroshevich, head of the European External Affairs Service unit responsible for working with the Eastern Partnership, said in an interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster.

If roaming is truly abolished, then not only Europeans will be able to come to Belarus and make cheap calls and texts from here, but Belarusians will also be able to travel around the European Union and use their mobile phones with peace of mind. True, this will not happen before 2020.

The service is activated if there is a sufficient prepayment amount (according to the subscriber’s tariff plan). There is no charge for connecting to the service. Subscribers – individuals* can activate the “International Roaming” service independently: using ACCA, ISSA (using your password on the website https://internet.velcom.by) and USSD request (*141*3*2#). Also, to activate the service, you can contact velcom branded centers or official attorneys (dealers) with an identification document. To disable the service, you can use any of the the above methods.

* Velcom subscribers who have been served by the company for less than 90 days and/or do not have a permanent residence permit in Belarus can activate the “International Roaming” service only at velcom branded centers or at official agents (dealers) of the company upon presentation of an identification document. This condition does not apply to subscribers of the BUSINESS.PRO, BUSINESS.PRO.WEB, BUSINESS.PRO.PLATINUM tariff plans...

But let's not get distracted. As usual, this list will be periodically updated and expanded, and if the pace of this does not suit you, you can always send your amendments through the feedback form.

How to avoid getting into trouble while roaming?

Roaming services have been considered the “Achilles heel” of our mobile operators for several years. Because of this, Belarusians continually find themselves in trouble abroad. Either the subscriber’s “extra” money will be debited from his account, or the tariffs for roaming services will unpleasantly surprise him, or problems with replenishment will arise...
A TUT.BY correspondent found out how to avoid unpleasant situations using roaming communications.
The balance is negative. Brest resident Igor Tomashuk, for example, connected to roaming before his trip to Belgium, but was able to use this expensive service only on the first day of his stay in Brussels.

The Brest resident has been using the services of the mobile operator MTS for several years. So this time, I’m going on a work trip, he turned on roaming. The man, having arrived in Brussels, sent SMS messages all day. It was necessary to resolve work and personal issues. There were about 70 thousand in the account. Moreover, Igor...

Roaming from Velcom

Let’s start by seniority – with the “oldest” mobile operator, who remembers the times when Nokia 3310 was sold in showrooms.

Actually, the summer mood is set even at the opening home page– endless fields and yellow balloons, according to Velcom marketers, are associated with the coming freedom. The “Roaming” tab is located here (in the “Private Clients” section).

First, we read a brief definition of what is called “International roaming from Velcom”. This is a service that helps you make calls (including video) and send SMS while in other countries through the networks of other operators that have agreements with Velcom. Users of the “Light” and “Connected” tariff plans are immediately eliminated - they, unfortunately, will not be able to contact their homeland. Roaming is activated by dialing a certain combination of characters and numbers - since there are several types of services, each has its own combination.

Internet traffic of the Non-stop, Non-stop 2.0 tariff plans is displayed in the details of the subscriber’s calls depending on the time of day as “Non-stop day” / “Non-stop night”.

To obtain information about the number of remaining minutes, SMS, MMS and GPRS traffic, you can use the USSD request *100*1# and the call key.

The service “Issuing detailed monthly invoices” will allow you to receive detailed information about all calls made, SMS or MMS sent, Internet traffic used (indicate the date and time of the call/sending SMS, MMS, duration of the call or volume of the Internet session, number, to whom the call was made/SMS, MMS was sent, its cost). This way you can control or optimize your mobile communications costs.

The day before yesterday, one person said that he was going to go on vacation to Turkey and was interested in SMS roaming. He has both MTS and Velcom, and he wanted to find out from me where using SMS roaming would cost him less.
So first of all, what is SMS roaming?
SMS roaming is a service that allows you to exchange ONLY SMS, if the subscriber is within the coverage area of the operator’s partner’s roaming network. This service is not provided for PRIVET subscribers.

Secondly, the service must be activated

To activate on Velcom

A little from my experience.

1. Ukraine. About five years ago I bought a prepaid SIM card Kyivstar, I still use it. I chose it for good coverage in the Carpathians and Crimea. Sold on every corner, no passport required when purchasing. Valid for one year from the date of the last outgoing call or SMS. It is also possible to make inexpensive calls to Belarus using a special code, similar to IP telephony.

2. Russia. With Russia it is more complicated - it is all divided into regions and a SIM card purchased in one region is not profitable to use in others. In addition, the validity period of SIM cards for all operators that I saw is six months. When traveling to Russia, I subscribed to the MTS Guest tariff (now the analogue is called “Your Country”) for inexpensive calls to Belarus. To connect, you need to sign an agreement with your passport, i.e. the procedure is not quick.

3. Europe. When traveling to Europe last year, we bought a prepaid SIM card from the Polish operator HEYAH. We chose it for the cheapest calls to Belarus from Poland. In other EU countries...

When traveling abroad, it is important to make sure you stay connected. To do this, you can connect Velcom roaming so that you can make and receive international calls to mobile phone. The service is paid, so it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the tariffs in advance. Next, we’ll take a closer look at how to activate roaming on Velcom.

Connecting roaming on Velcom

To activate roaming on Velcom yourself, you can choose one of the convenient methods. You can activate the service via the Internet, by contacting the Velcom operator office and using a special USSD command. Before connecting, it is recommended to top up your balance and make sure there are enough funds to pay for the service. You should also decide what type of option is needed.

How to connect services using a command and SMS:

  • To activate international calls you need to use a USSD request. You need to dial the following command: *141*3*1# and press the call key.
  • You can enable international roaming using the following request: *141*3*1# and the call key.
  • To activate SMS roaming you will need to send a message to 411 by writing keyword roam. You don't need to write anything other than this.

It is possible to independently manage Welkom services using your personal account. To do this, you need to go to the official website and log in to your personal account. If you have not used the service before, then you will first need to register. To do this, you need to provide a phone number, go through identification via SMS and come up with a password. After this, you can use the site’s services, enable and disable options.

In addition, to activate the roaming service on Velcom, you can contact the Velcom operator office. You must have your ID with you so that you can go through the procedure. If you want to make calls to all directions while in Velcom roaming, then you need to enable the International calls option. All calls will be made at roaming rates.

Velcom tariffs

If you are interested in connecting to roaming on Velcom, you should first familiarize yourself with the tariffs. The cost of services depends on the country you are in and the tariff plan. Also, the price for different functions differs. For example, outgoing calls from Germany to Belarus can cost 3.13 rubles. To send an SMS message, you will have to pay 0.25 rubles.

Important! The price may vary depending on exchange rate fluctuations, so all information is for reference only.

Welcom draws attention to the fact that roaming funds are debited when information about the services used is received from a foreign operator. It is for this reason that the final amount may be billed later.
Please note that incoming calls using Velcom roaming are paid, they are charged for 1 minute. If a person does not activate the “International Calls” service, then he will be able to communicate only within the host country. It will also not be possible to send SMS even to Belarus.

Checking your roaming balance

If you decide to enable roaming on your number, then you will need to monitor your balance. There are several ways to find out your account balance. As already mentioned, money is not always debited immediately after using the service, so the figure may change over time.

In order to find out your balance, you will need to perform the following steps:

  • USSD request. To do this, dial *100#. The information of interest will immediately appear on the phone screen. USSD in roaming works in the networks of those operators that support this function. If the request could not be completed, then you should use other methods.
  • Through the Internet. You can check your balance online. To do this, you need to go to the official Velcom website and enter your personal account. You should select the item in the “Personal Information” menu, where the information of interest will be present.
  • “Balance by SMS” function. You need to send a message with the word Balance to number 411 (Velcom). The cost of the function will depend on the tariff.
  • Call mobile operator Velcom. Not the most profitable option, because you will have to pay the cost of the call according to the roaming tariff. You can dial the number: +375 29 600 04 10. Help Desk will answer your questions.
  • If you are sufficiently independent, then it will be easier to send a request or obtain the necessary information via the Internet. When you can’t cope on your own, you will have to receive information through the Velcom operator or SMS, paying for the function at roaming rates.

Top up your balance

When using Welkom SMS roaming or international calls, you will need to top up your account. The money must be on your balance before the option can be activated. You can use an express payment card to deposit funds into your account. To do this, you will need to enter the 14-digit code indicated on the card by sending an SMS to 411.

Important! You can top up your balance through the online payment system. It is available on the official website of the Velcom operator, you just need to select convenient way replenishment.

You can also top up your balance with your bank card. For convenience, you can connect SMS banking to pay for the options of the Velcom mobile operator using a message.

The easiest way is to set up roaming and top up your account through the website, but you must have access to the Internet. On official service You can disable services from your mobile operator that you no longer need. Before choosing any option, it is important to familiarize yourself with its terms and conditions so as not to encounter any unpleasant moments later. Roaming is a profitable option for travelers, but before connecting, be sure to familiarize yourself with the tariff plan.
