A little from my experience.
1. Ukraine. About five years ago I bought a prepaid SIM card Kyivstar, I still use it. I chose it for good coverage in the Carpathians and Crimea. It is possible to independently manage Welkom services using your personal account. To do this, you need to go to the official website and log in to your personal account. If you have not used the service before, then you will first need to register. To do this, you need to provide a phone number, go through identification via SMS and come up with a password. After this, you can use the site’s services, enable and disable options.
In addition, to activate the roaming service on Velcom, you can contact the Velcom operator office. You must have your ID with you so that you can go through the procedure. If you want to make calls to all directions while in Velcom roaming, then you need to enable the International calls option. All calls will be made at roaming rates.

In order to find out your balance, you will need to perform the following steps:
- USSD request. To do this, dial *100#. The information of interest will immediately appear on the phone screen. USSD in roaming works in the networks of those operators that support this function. If the request could not be completed, then you should use other methods.
- Through the Internet. You can check your balance online. To do this, you need to go to the official Velcom website and enter your personal account. You should select the item in the “Personal Information” menu, where the information of interest will be present.
- “Balance by SMS” function. You need to send a message with the word Balance to number 411 (Velcom). The cost of the function will depend on the tariff.

- If you are sufficiently independent, then it will be easier to send a request or obtain the necessary information via the Internet. When you can’t cope on your own, you will have to receive information through the Velcom operator or SMS, paying for the function at roaming rates.

When using Welkom SMS roaming or international calls, you will need to top up your account. The money must be on your balance before the option can be activated. You can use an express payment card to deposit funds into your account. To do this, you will need to enter the 14-digit code indicated on the card by sending an SMS to 411.
Important! You can top up your balance through the online payment system. It is available on the official website of the Velcom operator, you just need to select convenient way replenishment.
You can also top up your balance with your bank card. For convenience, you can connect SMS banking to pay for the options of the Velcom mobile operator using a message.
