What are open tabs? How can I organize my bookmarks? Selecting a folder and creating a new one to store bookmarks

. Browser bookmarks are a very convenient thing, but not everyone uses them 100%. It’s a shame when you make bookmarks for months or even years, and then one day they simply disappear. If you configured them correctly and periodically save them to a file, then there is nothing to worry about. What do you mean configured? This means that all your bookmarks are arranged in folders and sorted. I use a browser Google Chrome. No matter what they say about him, I like him more than others. And its speed can be adjusted, and even intrusive advertising. Most likely, this is a matter of habit. Until recently, when there weren’t many bookmarks, everything suited me, but the other day I needed one site that I had bookmarked a long time ago, and it took me a long time to find this bookmark. And all because they are not sorted for me. I had to do this.

The target values for all links to the site are set at the same time, then all links to the page will open in a new tab. Unless you have an additional reason why you want the linked page to open in a new tab, do not specify the target attribute. Users who accept cards usually open their new card themselves. On the other hand, users who don't receive cards may be very confused after opening a new card because the button doesn't work in the browser again.

Sometimes you can't meet it. Link refers to the color of the unlinked link, the wavelet of the linked and the activated active link. Just for fun: This is the second most visited site on this site. The old ones were just meta tags. Close all cards at once and use private mode.

If you also have a lot of bookmarks and you don’t know how to sort them, then this article is for you. Even if you don’t have many bookmarks yet, it’s better to do it now than to spend half a day on this activity later.

Sort bookmarks by Google browser Chrome is not difficult. To do this, you need to go to your browser settings. Click on the three horizontal bars in the upper right corner of the browser window and select "Bookmarks" and then "Bookmark Manager".

This is good, but you have to admit that in everyday use the cards can multiply unnoticed. Sometimes you have to order, and closing 25 cards one at a time is almost a Sisyphean job. Let's go to the tab view by tapping the tabs icon in the lower right corner. Then select "Private" and select "Everyone". This doesn't always make sense because we often want to return to pages we've already visited, and private mode makes it difficult because the browser doesn't remember addresses. To exit it, go to the bookmarks view again and select the Close button.

A new window will open with a list of your bookmarks. Select a folder on the left, and in the large window on the right at the very top, click on the small black arrow near the inscription “ Control" A list will open in which you need to click on the “Arrange by headings” item. All bookmarks will be arranged in alphabetical order.

The gray surrounding the button will disappear. Thanks to this tip, we already know how to get rid of all tabs at once, as well as how to use private mode. How to view a link before going to a site and how to open a link in a new tab. Sometimes we would like to know the destination address before moving to another website. We can also open the link in a new tab so that we save the content of the open page.

Search the Internet directly from the system. If you forgot - you can launch the search engine on any home screen by moving your finger down. Note, we're not doing this transition from the top edge because we're going to the notification center - we're starting a little lower.

Right there in "Management" you can add a folder, delete it, and even rename it.

Thus, you will need to open each folder on the left and sort the entire list. Yes, it’s not fast, but then you won’t waste time searching for the required bookmark.

Just quickly press the Home button twice to display the list running applications. This is why we have to give the computer name even if we are working on a local computer. When we give it two parameters, we get a new instance of the object. Moreover, this instance will be created using the second parameter. If we don't do this, we may receive the following message when saving the file. It will work the same, on the one hand - you won't see the remote or local computer on the screen.

It's all for safety and there's nothing you can do about it. When we spend the whole day in our favorite program and want to interrupt its operation for a while, you will need to save all the program settings so that you can return to work later. Of course, in the program settings there are such things as the appearance of windows, a list of files, bookmarks, registers, global environment variables and other parameters, but we will only use sessions that will allow us all this.

Working on the Internet, everyone regularly visits the same sites that are regularly needed, for example, sites for their work, study, service Email, some blogs, forums. Always find these sites through search engines or entering their addresses manually through the browser address bar is inconvenient. It is much more convenient to add such sites to the so-called browser bookmarks or, in other words, to your browser favorites.

To save the current session state, simply run the command. To return to our work and recreate the sessions, simply run the program with the parameter. And we are ready to continue our work. Let's start by opening many files in tabs. Of course there are many ways to do this.

If we have already run the program using the command in normal mode. We can open another file in a separate tab. However, the application can open any number of cards, but depending on your needs, we can limit the number displayed by setting a variable in the configuration file.

With this approach, the sites you need can be easily found, opened quickly, and you won’t lose them. This is especially true for those sites that you found somewhere and you really need them (even temporarily), but if you don’t save them somewhere, you may not find them again or you will spend extra time searching. In such cases, it is also convenient to add these sites to your browser bookmarks and from there they will not go anywhere, unless, of course, you accidentally delete them from there :)

Which will result in 17 cards being displayed, each of which will not be displayed. Keep in mind that files will still be opened regardless of the number of cards displayed. This way, a file matching the pattern will be opened, if there are multiple files that match that criterion, the program will tell us this and we will have to narrow the criterion so that the search results in only one file.

To navigate through maps we use the following commands. If we have a very large number of open cards, we can immediately get to the last or first card by executing a command. In addition, we can move between maps using commands.

In this article I will tell and show you how to use bookmarks (favorites), how to add sites there, and quickly open them, using the example of several of the most popular browsers.

Working with bookmarks in the Google Chrome browser

Adding desired sites to your browser bookmarks

In order to bookmark the site you want in the Google Chrome browser, you must first open that site. Let's assume you decide to bookmark the main page of the Yandex website. Go to this site, and then click the button in the form of a star:

We can also organize the cards as we wish, we use the following command. Set your own shortcuts. You'll probably be surprised that there are windows in the console window editor. Next we will split our interface into two parts. Let's start by entering the command.

Sometimes, however, we must jump from one window to another. As soon as we get bored to open empty files, we can try. The file we entered will open immediately. Sometimes, however, we may need a larger or smaller window. We can also split the window horizontally using the command.

A window will open where you will see the message “Bookmark added.” As soon as you click the "Star" button, the bookmark is immediately saved in the browser.

Now you can make a couple of settings so that later you can easily find your bookmark and quickly open the desired site:

  • You can specify a name for the saved site in bookmarks (1). Initially, the name is written by the browser itself, based on the title of the page. You can change the name to your own so that you can navigate through a bunch of bookmarks later.
  • You can specify the folder where the bookmark will be saved (2). Bookmarks can be stored in different folders and initially it is saved in the folder that was last used. Folders will help you better navigate large quantities bookmarks because you can break them down by topic.

You can leave the settings as they are and immediately click “Done” (3) and the bookmark will be saved to the default folder.

Finally, sometimes we need to finish working on a window, we close it. This is a very useful thing, which, of course, has not ended in our program. We have several options for filling out the entered text. Patterns can be matched. Validation of entered words can be performed after enabling the option.

We allow checking along with language selection. In the above case it will be Polish. If you don't already have a dictionary, create a spell catalog. And upload files with the dictionaries you want to use. You can also use automatic inclusion in the configuration.

Selecting a folder and creating a new one to store bookmarks

For example, you have 50 necessary sites saved in bookmarks. Of these 50 sites, several are sites for watching movies, there are several sites for listening to music, several sites for online banking or electronic wallets, etc. Therefore, you can create your own folders for each category of bookmarks (sites) you add, for example, “ Banks and electronic wallets”, “Watch movies”, “Listen to music”...

Example: in the image below, number 1 indicates the created folders for those bookmarks, which I divided into appropriate categories for ease of further search. The number 2 indicates bookmarks that do not belong to any categories (folders).

To change the save folder, click on the original folder (2).

A window will open where the already created folders will be displayed at the top (1). Initially, the “Bookmarks Bar” and “Other Bookmarks” folders are already automatically created in the browser. The rest you can create yourself. Below there is an item “Select another folder” (2), clicking on which will take you to a window where you can create your own folder (or several) for further saving bookmarks there.

In the window that opens, select the source folder from the existing ones (1), where your new folder will be created and click the “ new folder"(2).

A new folder will be created in the list above and you can immediately give it a new name (initially the folder is called “New Folder”).

Now all you have to do is select in the same window the folder in which the added bookmark will ultimately be saved (1) and click “Save” (2).

After completing all the above steps, you will save the bookmark in the folder you need. This way you can save an unlimited number of sites!

After a site has been added to your bookmarks, when you search through the Google Chrome address bar and mention the site name (which you specified in your bookmarks), you will immediately see the desired site.

For example, the Yulmart store website has been added to bookmarks. The bookmark is named “Yulmart online store”. By typing the word “Yulmart” in the address bar of your browser (1) or starting to type the website address, Google Chrome will immediately give you the appropriate option below (2).

How to open the site you want saved in Google Chrome bookmarks

Open saved in your Google bookmarks Chrome sites can be accessed in 3 ways:

  1. Through the browser menu “Bookmarks”.

To open bookmarks this way, open the browser menu (1) and hover over the “Bookmarks” item (2). An additional window with browser bookmarks will appear on the left. There you will see in a column the entire list of your bookmarks, both those that are not sorted into folders (3), and the folders themselves with the bookmarks you added (4).

Folders with an arrow at the end of their names already have some saved bookmarks inside them. To open the list of bookmarks saved in a folder, simply hold the mouse cursor over the desired folder and another column with bookmarks of the selected folder will appear.

Well, to open the selected site, left-click (hereinafter LMB) on the bookmark and the site will immediately open in a new browser tab.

  2. Through the bookmarks bar.

The bookmarks bar is the panel located under the address bar of the browser where the bookmarks you have added will be displayed in a row. Example:

Initially, the bookmarks bar in the browser is disabled and will only be displayed on home page. To enable it, open the browser menu (1), hover over the “Bookmarks” item (2) and in the column that appears, click on the “Show bookmarks bar” item (3).

Now the bookmarks bar will always be displayed in the browser. The bookmarks panel will display folders with your bookmarks (2), as well as separately bookmarks that you did not include in any folder (1).

To open a bookmark, simply click on it with LMB, and to expand the contents of the folder, hover the cursor over it.

  3. Through the bookmark manager.

The bookmark manager is a separate section of the browser where you can not only view all your saved bookmarks in a convenient way, but also manage them, for example, add new bookmarks directly from there, delete unnecessary ones, create folders, sort bookmarks into folders.

To open the bookmark manager, as in the previous two methods, open the browser menu, in it the “Bookmarks” item and click on the “Bookmarks Manager” sub-item.

The bookmark manager opens in a separate browser tab.

The left side of the window (1) displays the folders in which bookmarks are stored, and the right side of the window displays the contents of the folder you selected on the left.

To open a site from the bookmark manager, double-click on it. By clicking right click mouse (hereinafter referred to as RMB) on the bookmark, selecting “Change” or “Delete”, you can change the name and address of the bookmark site and, accordingly, delete the bookmark. The same can be done with folders: change the name or delete unnecessary folders.

Which of the 3 above methods to use is up to you to choose. The simplest and quick way- use the bookmarks bar, because it is visible on every page and you do not need to open the browser menu to get to your bookmarks.

On the other hand, when there are too many bookmarks, it may turn out that this panel becomes inconvenient to use, and then you can use method No. 1 or 3.

Method number 3 is very convenient if you pin the bookmark manager in your browser so that you can access it quickly. To do this, right-click on the tab where you have the bookmark manager open (1) and select “Pin tab” (2).

As a result, the example bookmark is miniature and will always be placed on the left, allowing you to easily access the bookmark manager.

As you can see, everything is easy and simple in the Google Chrome browser. But everything is also simple in other browsers. Below I will briefly show how all this is done on the Mozilla FireFox, Opera and Internet Explorer browsers.

Working with bookmarks in the Mozilla Firefox browser

To bookmark a site in Mozilla Firefox you also need to go to the site and click the button with the star icon (1), after which a window will open for editing the bookmark name and selecting a folder to save (2). Having configured saving the bookmark, all that remains is to click the “Done” button.

To view bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox, you need to click on the button to the right of the star (1) and your tabs and folders will appear in the pop-up window below (2). By clicking “Show all bookmarks”, you can open a list of your bookmarks in a more convenient form (similar to the bookmark manager in Google Chrome).
