HUD doesn't work or HM2 says Waiting for hands...? Heads-up display (HUD) issues Issue III: Mucked Cards are not in the right place

In this section you can:

  • Configure HUD filters.
  • Edit settings for discarded cards “Mucked cards” (showdown cards from the last hand and EV will be shown).

You can also change HUD profiles in HM3 here.

The menu works similarly to “Site Options” on XM2.

In this section you can assign a specific HUD to sites and game types. The main thing is to make sure that given parameters there are no inconsistencies. If you are using specific assignments, do not set "ANY" for all settings.

Advanced has more display customization options where you can control the following settings:

  • The number of note lines shown.
  • Structural groups of stats with player color (like “Auto Rate Settings” in XM2)
  • Allow transparency (set the saturation of the HUD background).
  • Enable/disable tools for table selection.
  • Lower opacity for stat groups.

HUD Filters

HUD filters are used to filter out inappropriate hands based on tournament stack size or number of players at the table.

Note: Player count HUD Filter can be combined with Tournament Stacks filter.

HUD Filters - Number of Players: If you play games such as heads-up, 6-max or 9-max, then you can remove hands from the HUD statistics based on the number of players involved in the hand. Heads-up players play differently than 9-handed players.

HUD Filters – Tournaments: Tournament HUD Filters filters statistics based on how many big blinds a player has at the start of the hand. Players play differently based on how many big blinds they have in tournaments.

Suggestion for use: Use HUD Filters if you play a lot of hands as the HUD information will be as accurate as possible.

HUD Filters – Number of Players

1. Minimum Hands Required(minimum number of hands): Use this field to tell Holdem Manager when to filter hands based on the players sitting at the table. If you only have 100 hands per player, then you may not want to start filtering hands based on how many other players are at the table.

  • Option "Stats From Current Cash Stake Only"(output stats only from the current limit level) will filter hands based on the statistics of the limit level you are playing. You won't see HUD stats for $100 tables if you play at $25 tables.
  • Option "Stats From Current Bet Type Only"(only display stats for current game type) filters HUD stats based on No Limit, Limit and Pot Limit games.
  • Option "Retrieve Session Stats For Tool Tips"(display player stats separately for current session) will place stats for current player sessions in the HUD tooltip. (Hover over HUD)

2. Option "Stats from the last Hands" And option "Stats from the last weeks"(Last Hand Stats and Last Weeks Stats) filters HUD stats based on the last number of X hands or number of X weeks. Players play differently over time, and you can filter it all here.

3. Option "Number of Players Filtered"(Number of filtered players). Follow something similar to the above screenshot. The picture shows hand filtering based on heads-up, 6-max and 9-max.

With the above filter, you will never mix 9-max hands with 6-max or heads-up hands in your HUD.

HUD Filters Tournaments

The tournament stacks on the right side of this screen filter hands based on the number of big blinds a player has at the start of the hand. Start by clicking on the " Recommended", which is on the right, then adjust the filters to suit your preferences.

In the first line of the "Tournament Stack" section, which is on the right, there are four options. The numbers are the big blinds.

Counts" Player Min" And " Player Max"The above screen says that if a player's stack size is from 0 to 10 big blinds, then the statistics of those hands where he had a stack size from 0 to 12 big blinds are displayed.

All hands up to 12 big blinds are added since the player is likely to play about the same when he has up to 12 big blinds.

If you want hands to be displayed specifically by the number of big blinds a player has at the start of the hand, match the columns so that they are the same. For example, use 0-10 for Player Min & Player Max, then use the same 0-10 for Hands w/Min & Hands w/Max.

This whole process will become clear once you add (Add) or edit (Edit) a filter for the tournament (see below).

HUD Editor

Adding stats and pop-ups, as well as editing HUDs in XM3, occurs through the menu HUD > HUD Editor.

This works similarly to HUD Settings - HUD Designer (HUD Settings - HUD Designer) in HM2.

The popup will be selected in the group field.

You can:

  • Create a new HUD.
  • Edit HUD properties.
  • Add stats to HUD.
  • Group stats in panels.
  • Edit font and align HUDs.
  • Realize preview of your HUD in the lower right corner.
  • Edit stats.
  • Export and import HUD (to the right of the “Delete” shortcut).

Please note that table averages will change immediately, as will unique HUDs.

The Options menu allows you to import, export, delete, rename, duplicate, or move the HUD.

In Russian:

In the upper right corner there is a switch that opens the popup editing window. To do this, you just need to click on “Popup Groups”.

In the upper left corner you can select a popup and create a new one, or delete the current one, as well as export and import popups (to the right of the “Delete” shortcut).

Popup Groups works similarly to the HUD editor. You can view stats in the popup and edit their settings, view stats in the HUD and preview popups (below in the right corner), edit the font and alignment.

Stats are added below in the left corner. Here you can add a horizontal line (like the hash line in the XM2 popup designer).

Both HUDs above show the same stats. The only difference is that the Standard with Labels HUD displays the abbreviated names of the HUD stats in front of each one.

Start using the Standard with Labels HUD first. Once you are familiar with the stat positions in the HUD, switch to the Standard no Label HUD to save screen space.

Advice: Hover your mouse over any HUD stat and a popup will appear that will tell you what HUD stat you are viewing.

  • HM3 provides new and updated default HUDs and popups for every game type.
  • Switching HUDs directly on the table
  • Import and export of HUDs
  • Examples of default HUDs

New popup for tournaments (Tournament Popup)

To quickly switch between HUDs, click on HUD Settings HUD Element.

  1. Open HUD Settings
  2. Click on the name of the current HUD to display all HUDs available to you
  3. Choose a new HUD

Note: To load a new HUD on the same table type, go back to HUD Settings and select "Set Profile as Default for this Table Type". When you open new table this type, HM3 will load the new HUD you just selected.

Customize the HUD to suit your preferences. If you need something more than what the default HM3 HUDs offer, consider customizing one of the default HUDs.

To start customizing HUDs and popups, click on HUD → HUD Editor to open the main HUD editor.

While in the Main HUD Profile Editor, click “Options” to display the following context menu:

Export Profile will export the HUD profile you selected, and Import Profile will import the HM3 HUD you previously saved. You can import HUD from HM2.

What to do if the HUD does not work?

  1. Check whether the poker client saves the hands you played.
  2. Make sure that the hands are saved by your poker client in the same folder from which the Hold'em Manager pulls them. You can check this in the HM3 > Tools > Site Settings menu.
  3. See if you have enabled auto import in HM3 > File > Start Auto Import option.
  4. Make sure the hands are imported into XM3:
  • Go to Tools > Import Details and go to the Live play tab.
  • You should see new hands coming in as you play, and also see them in HM3 > Reports.
  • When importing hands, a HUD should appear.

If you still can't see the HUD, look to see if there is an HM3 HUD icon on the table.

If none of the above tips helped, then resume the process again and:

    • Take screenshots of your desktop.
    • Try to display the "Live Play" tab in the screenshots, Windows clock and poker client lobby hours.
    • Click “Send Feedback” ( Feedback) from the left sidebar of the menu, or from the “Help” menu at the top. Submit your logs and config files with a detailed description of the problem.
    • Send screenshots to new system"Support Ticket" or attach them to an existing request.

All of the above information will help you more accurately find the cause of the problem. If the data is not enough, you will be contacted by email and asked for the missing information.

  • Heads-up display (HUD) is not displayed.
Users do not need to do anything to activate. The heads-up display should appear after importing at least one fully played hand.

If this does not happen, try the following:

    1. Make sure played hands are imported using . Check your settings for importing hands from the appropriate site.

    2. Your poker client must be installed using English (writing hand history files in English is not a sufficient condition for the correct import process). Reinstall your poker client if it was installed using a different language.

    3. If you have installed Windows system Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, make sure you run PokerTracker 4 and the poker client as administrator. You can, but you will still need to run the relevant programs as an administrator.

    4. In the section Configure HUD / HUD Options > Filters:

    • disable the option " Show stats for current limit only" and/or " Stats from Current Tournament Blind Level Only".
    • enter 0 (zero) in the " field Minimum Hands Required" - you will not see statistics for the player until the number of hands specified in this field appears in the database. Attention: if you use several databases, then this field must be filled in for each of them individually.
    • make sure that in HUD Options the desired database has been selected.
    • enter 0 (zero) in the " field Stats from the last X hands" - you will see all the statistics.
    • delete everything Number of Players Filtered.
The interaction of these filters may not be obvious, but setting the parameters as indicated above should neutralize their impact on the heads-up display. For example, if you have a value other than zero in the Minimum Hands field and Number of Players Filtered is enabled, this may prevent statistics from being shown when there are more than or fewer players than provided by the filter.

Heads-up display (HUD) does not work properly.
If the heads-up display is displayed, but the statistics appear with delay and errors, or the statistics disappear from time to time, try the following steps:

    • check the PostgreSQL version ( Database > Database Management). If you are using version 8.3.x, but earlier than 8.3.9, then the version of PostgreSQL should be upgraded.
    • regularly defragment your HDD. Before you defragment, stop the PostgreSQL services ( Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > Stop Service).
    • must be fully cached. If any problems occur, you can reset the cache and cache again.

How to fix if there is no HUD displayed on your table during the game or HM2 constantly says Waiting for hands..., but nothing happens, you will learn from this article.

    Check for updates

The first thing you need to do is update the program. Check to see if there is an update? Also make sure your poker client installed on English language , and hand histories are saved in English.

If you have the latest version of the program, and the poker room is installed as it should, but the HUD still does not work, then follow these steps:

Does the poker client save hand histories to your computer?

Check all relevant settings. Open your saves folder and make sure there is a file in it that is constantly updated. For example, in the case of Microgaming network sites, you need to manually archive the gamehistory.dat file at certain intervals - every 10,000 hands. Copy/paste into the c:\hmarchive folder and then into the folder of the current day - or create a special folder. After this, restart the client to create new file with the history of games.

Is the folder with hand history displayed in the list of Auto Import HM2 files in the Site Settings?

If not, run automatic discovery. Some folders may not be recognized, especially if they are in non-standard locations. Click Add and specify the path to the folder to add it.

    Check your time zone settings

If your time is different from the site server's time zone, you need to set the time in Settings. Run automatic discovery. If for some reason there is no result, determine the time difference yourself and enter it in the site time settings. This step must be completed before starting the game.

While playing, open Sessions Ribbon. Look at the columns on the right where the session hands are displayed and make sure that the times listed for those hands match the time on your computer during the game. Otherwise, go to Network Settings and change them.

    Use Table Finder

For some sites/tables you will have to use Table Finder. Check to see if the table is listed in Active Tables, under the session information. Then click Table Finder. Select the table name and drag the object to the desired table. Click "OK" to add a HUD to this table.

Remove archive folders from auto import

Delete c:\hmarchive and/or c:\hm2archive, as well as other folders into which your imported folders are archived from auto-import folders. It is necessary to break the vicious cycle of importing and archiving, as this slows down the HUD and, quite possibly, is the reason for its disappearance. Sometimes this effect causes your computer to crash because Windows does not read file names. Do the same with other folders where data is saved. Remove such folders from the list of folders in auto import.

    Additionally

    • Also make sure that in HUD Options > HUD Filters > Last x months the number is set from 1 to 20.
    • If one HUD works and the other doesn't, then export the broken HUD, then import that file and delete the previous HUD.
