When is the Apple iPhone 8 presentation?

The iPhone 8 generation is an upcoming new smartphone from Apple. The gadget will be equipped with a new generation quad-core A11 processor, the ability to read the iris of the retina, and an innovative frameless screen.

The release date for iPhone 8 has been set; the start of sales in Russia, according to tradition, will take place two weeks after the presentation - in September 2017.

The smartphone promises to revolutionize and lead the market mobile devices first class, users can expect new advanced features and improved design.

Next year, Apple's line of flagships celebrates a milestone: it marks 10 years since the release of the first generation iPhone. The Cupertino company plans to celebrate this event on a large scale.

There is less than a year left before the start of sales of the Apple iPhone 8, the scale and plans of the company can only be imagined, the Internet is already full of rumors about the new flagship model. Many analysts are predicting a transition to Oled technology, and this fact is quite real.

This will allow the iPhone 8 to become much thinner, more convenient and lighter than its predecessors; new technologies will allow it to consume less energy, with significantly greater graphics performance and image quality.

Appearance, design of iPhone 8

According to leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in 2017 Apple will abandon the usual aluminum so that the new flagship model is distinguishable from its predecessors.

According to some information, the company intends to return to the production of a glass back cover, like the iPhone 4 and 4s, this material is heavier than aluminum and has better characteristics for appearance, but at the same time it is more fragile.

IPhone 8 - official design (photo)

Although, if you consider that the cover will be made of the latest generation Gorilla Glass, you don’t have to worry about durability. New OLED panels will reduce the thickness and weight of the device, which will allow the introduction of glass.

Allen Horng, head of the Catcher Technology holding center, which is the official supplier of Apple products, shares the same opinion. Both analysts are confident that one of the models will definitely receive a glass case, or rather its rear insert.

According to our estimates, Apple will once again release two versions of the flagship, but there is no official data on the size of the displays and the materials the case will be made of. It's possible that Apple will keep the usual 4.7 and 5.5-inch models, but if you take into account the company's grandiose plans, you can count on a complete redesign.

iPhone 8 Specifications

The company plans to completely update the iPhone 8 hardware, equipping the flagship with an Apple A11 processor made with 10nm technology. This will improve performance and reduce power consumption.

The device will receive a long-distance wireless charging function, and a new biometric function that allows you to protect your smartphone - a retinal scanner and facial contours.

  • The display is made using Super AMOLED technology, size 5.5 inches, with 3D Touch function, Quad HD resolution, and super durable Corning Gorilla Glass 6 class.
  • Apple 11th generation quad-core processor and M11 class coprocessor made using 10 nm technology.
  • Volume random access memory will increase to 3 gigabytes in regular version, and Plus versions up to 4 gigabytes, internal storage 64, 128, 256 gigabytes.
  • Main camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels and front camera 8 megapixels, with optical stabilization function and f/1.8 aperture
  • New generation operating system iOS 11.
  • New battery with increased capacity up to 2350 mAh in the regular version and 3550 mAh in the plus version, with wireless charging function.

Screen (Display) iPhone 8

Some reputable foreign analysts suggest that the iPhone 8 will be equipped with an OLED display; in 2016, Apple entered into an agreement with South Korean competitor Samsung to produce the corresponding parts for eighth-generation smartphones. The timing of the release of the device itself depends on the settings of the subtleties of the production process.

As you know, screens of this quality do not need the backlight function used in earlier iPhone models, this innovation will make smartphones lighter and thinner.

In addition, OLED displays are flexible, which could make it possible to create an iPhone 8 with a curved screen.

The screens of the Korean giant are currently the highest contrast on the market, have the best viewing angle, and lower power consumption. But this technology also has its disadvantages, namely a shorter service life than LCD panels.

There are rumors that the younger model of the eighth iPhone will receive a 5.8-inch display instead of the usual 5.5 inches.

A11 processor and M11 coprocessor

The production of new chips will be carried out by TSMC as before; at the end of 2016, the corporation completed the process of setting up 10-nanometer technology.

These chips will become an integral part of the flagship, significantly increasing its performance while consuming less power, and is scheduled to be delivered to markets in the spring of 2017.

Main and front cameras

In , the company has completely redesigned and improved the photography processes, making the flagship camera of the junior model the best on the market, and photographs taken by the plus model are equated by many to the quality of expensive DSLRs.

According to rumors, the iPhone 8 will receive an improved 16 megapixel sensor, optical stabilization and an f/1.8 aperture.

Recharge iPhone 8 wirelessly

Cupertino residents in the coming year are ready to present new feature charging flagships over long distances without using wires.

This method is a real breakthrough in the world of digital technology, just imagine, you can recharge your iPhone by crossing the threshold of an apartment, or visiting a cafe, and the smartphone will start recharging without additional manipulations.

iPhone 8 - wireless charging

Of course, this technology has a downside, the further away it is located Charger from the flagship itself, the longer the charging process will be. Back in 2015, Apple assembled a whole staff of engineers who work tirelessly on this technology.

Model range, prefix "S" or "Pro"

According to yet unconfirmed information, in 2017 Apple will move away from the usual “S” prefix to the seventh model, new flagship will be called iPhone 8.

Last mobile row The iPhone will look like this:

  • iPhone 6S and iPhone 6s Plus updated in 2016 with 32, 64, 128 GB of memory, the 16 GB version has been discontinued.
  • 2016 models iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (Pro) with 32, 64, 128, 256 GB of memory,
  • and new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (Pro) devices with 64, 128, 256 GB of memory; the 32 GB version will not be released.

If we take into account the upcoming changes and innovations, the name iPhone 8 will become more logical for the new device.

Additional characteristics of iPhone 8

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, new smartphone will be equipped with a security function against unauthorized access using an iris and facial contour reader, in addition to the traditional fingerprint reader.

Besides, inner memory iPhone 8 will be built using NAND technology, with faster data transfer; such a chip is already used in recent iPad models Pro 256 GB.

iPhone 8 price in Russia

It is not yet clear how much the iPhone 8 will cost in Russia, but its price is unlikely to change much compared to the previous model.

Approximately, the basic model of iPhone 8 with 64 gigabytes of memory will cost about 55-60 thousand rubles.

iPhone 8 release date, price

On September 12, 2017, Apple introduced 3 new smartphones. Instead of the expected ones, the presentation presented the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, as well as the anniversary iPhone X (the tenth iPhone, which we will talk about in a separate publication). Have the new gadgets met users' expectations? Let's look at the main differences and new features of the 8 series.

Brief review of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

Starting with the 6th generation iPhone, the company offers users two formats of smartphones: a regular and an enlarged, advanced Plus version. Episode 8 was no exception. In addition, the developer has retained a recognizable design that has not changed since the 6th generation.

At the presentation, users saw the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Smartphones are available in 3 color versions: Space Gray (dark gray or graphite), Silver (light gray), Gold (a new shade of gold that really looks cool!)

iPhone 8 case

The new product has slightly changed in size by tenths of millimeters.

For comparison sizes:

  • iPhone 7 - 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm
  • iPhone 7 Plus - 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm

The new iPhone has a glass back and a heavy-duty aluminum frame that matches the color of the case. The glass on the back panel allows for wireless charging using the Qi standard (not included).

According to Phill Schiller, iPhone 8 has the most durable glass available today. These are 7-layer glass panels, the structure of which includes copper and steel.

The housing is protected from water and dust.

iPhone 8 display

Resolution, diagonal, matrix, 3D-Touch support remain the same. But the new product supports True Tone technology, thanks to which the colors on the display adjust to the surrounding lighting. Such displays use four-channel light sensors. This provides a more comfortable screen reading experience.

iPhone 8 chipset

The new product received a new 6-core Apple A11 Boinic processor. 2 cores are 25% faster than the A10 Fusion, and 4 cores are 70% faster.

iPhone 8 camera

Technically, the iPhone 8 camera remains the same. These are the same 12MP with f/1.8 aperture in the regular version of the iPhone and 12MP (f/1.8) + 12MP (f/2.8) in the Plus version.

The regular iPhone 8 is again devoid of trendy features. It doesn't shoot in portrait mode and doesn't get the new Portrait Lighting feature that's in beta on the iPhone 8 Plus.

Portrait mode has also undergone qualitative changes. The iPhone 8 Plus camera now better detects object boundaries by analyzing light reflections. In portrait mode, new filters are available that allow you to change the illumination of the in-focus object and the background. And the new processor provides faster and more accurate focusing.

Price of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

The official cost of iPhone 8 in Russia is:

  • 56,990 rubles - 64GB
  • 68,990 rubles - 256GB

Criticism of the iPhone 8

The army of iPhone 8 fans is divided into two camps.

The former will buy the new iPhone, despite the minimal changes, while the latter are indignant that the iPhone 8 has become a marketing gimmick. According to users, the iPhone 8 was deliberately made “not advanced and changed enough” to draw attention to the innovative model - the iPhone X.

This time, despite the fact that leaks and rumors have again revealed many details, something truly interesting and intriguing awaits us. There is a phenomenal flagship in the form of the iPhone 8 and a new headquarters, and much more that we simply don’t even know about yet. But one thing is for sure - this will be one of the most important and grandiose Apple presentations in the last 10 years. You can't miss this! We are waiting for you on the 12th, at 20:00 Moscow time.

Apple began its presentation by talking about the new generation smart watch, . They got improved hardware and support cellular networks. This allowed us to significantly expand the capabilities of the watch. In particular, Apple Watch now supports services such as Apple Music, iMessage and calling without pairing with an iPhone.

When designing the Apple Watch Series 3, engineers managed to maintain the same form factor, turning the watch screen into a cellular module. As expected, communication uses an eSIM, a kind of “image” of a real SIM card.

In addition, Apple Watch Series 3 was equipped with a built-in altimeter, a 70% more powerful dual-core chip and a W2 coprocessor. At the same time, Apple managed to keep the cost of the Apple Watch Series 3 at the level of the previous generation model. Version 3 of the watch will go on sale on September 22 at prices starting from $329 for the version without LTE and $399 for the version with LTE.

Apple TV 4K

Next we talked about Apple TV 4K. As the name suggests, it supports 4K video playback, but has the design of the previous model and similar capabilities. Apple TV runs new version tvOS and has an A10X processor - the same one installed in the iPad Pro. The remote control for the new console also looks a little different: it has small rims around the button.

As for 4K movies, they will be available at the same price as HD. And all previous purchases will be automatically updated to 4K HDR. The price of the set-top box starts at $179, pre-order starts on Friday, and Apple TV 4K will be available for purchase on September 22.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

After talking about set-top box Phil Schiller appeared on stage and moved on to the main topic of the presentation - the iPhone. Replaces the iPhone 7 in glass and metal cases. In the production of smartphones, 7-layer very durable glass panels are used. Both models come with Retina displays with True Tone technology. With its help, the smartphone automatically adjusts the color temperature of the screen in accordance with the ambient lighting conditions.

iPhone 8 features the new 6-core A11 Bionic chip, which is 70% faster than its predecessor and delivers even faster focusing when shooting photos and videos.

Smartphone cameras have retained the same resolution and the same set of lenses. And optical stabilization is now present even in the basic iPhone 8. It is worth noting the new improved mode for shooting portrait photos. With dual cameras and spot detection, Portrait mode now offers studio lighting effects.

In addition, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus support Qi wireless charging. Simultaneously with the start of sales new iPhones accessories from Belkin and a number of other manufacturers will be released. Apple itself will release its AirPower wireless charging station next year. It will allow you to simultaneously charge your iPhone, Apple Watch Series 3 and AirPods.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will go on sale on September 22 at prices starting from 57 and 65 thousand rubles, respectively. Residents of the first wave countries will be able to pre-order on September 15th. As for iOS 11, it will be available for download next Tuesday, the 19th.

iPhone X

And the last and most significant new product shown at the presentation was . It received a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina display, wireless charging and a facial recognition system, and at the same time lost the usual Home button.

The smartphone case is protected from water and dust and is made of heavy-duty glass on both sides of the device and surgical steel on the sides. Unlocking is now carried out using the Face ID facial recognition system. Simply look at the phone and swipe the screen and it will unlock.

Face ID sensors are located next to front camera and are able to identify the user even in the dark. They work by projecting 30,000 invisible points onto the face and creating an accurate 3D structural map of it. Therefore, it will not be possible to fool the sensor with a photograph. Thanks to machine learning technologies, Face ID adapts to changes in appearance. The sensor is used for Apple Pay and third-party applications. And the chances of someone else unlocking your iPhone with their face are only 1 in 1,000,000. With Touch ID, this figure is 1 in 50,000.

iPhone X is equipped with a new front camera that not only takes selfies with a clear foreground and blurred background, but also analyzes facial expressions and then creates 12 Animoji based on it. The rear dual camera has 12 megapixels, a telephoto lens with 10x zoom and optical image stabilization.

iPhone X is also equipped with the new A11 Bionic processor with a neural system and speeds of up to 600 billion operations per second. And the second-generation Performance Controller and specially designed battery allow iPhone X to last up to two hours longer on a single charge than iPhone 7.

The smartphone is offered with 64 and 256 GB of memory, pre-order starts on October 27, and sales are scheduled to begin on November 3. Price accordingly.

P.S. Well, have you prepared the money yet?
