Characteristics of Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact - Specifications. Memory cards are used in mobile devices to increase the storage capacity for storing data.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, which replaced the compact version of Z1 (and at the same time - the usual Z2), seems to have no innovative characteristics, but it works not only fast, but lightning fast. It can also save battery, shoots clear video and is quite compact for its diagonal ...

Packing, equipment

The device comes in a white matte box. In addition to it, there are: Charger, user manual, USB cable and warranty card.

Design

The smartphone continues the design solutions of the Z-series. This time, pink (more like coral) and green (similar to mint) were added to the black and white cases.

The body of the phone is rectangular, the corners are only slightly rounded for ease of use. The entire front panel is hidden by Dragon trail protective glass. Above the screen on the left are sensors and an LED (now it is not placed in the speaker, but is represented by a separate “bulb”), in the middle is one of the stereo speakers, on the right is the front camera lens. Under the screen is a second stereo speaker.

On the side on the right is a round aluminum power button, under it (right in the middle) is the volume control, below are the cameras.

At the top left are a micro-USB connector and a micro SD memory card slot under a tight cover, a docking station connector is lower, and a nano-SIM slot with its own cover is even lower. The card can be inserted and pulled out by simply picking up the convex “bed” with a fingernail.

On the top end there is a headphone jack, on the bottom there is a microphone and a hole for a cord.

The rear panel is also covered with Dragon trail glass. Above - the lens of the main camera (at the body level), its short description and LED flash, below - the NFC icon, below it is the Sony logo, even below - XPERIA. There is no access to the battery.

Display

The smartphone received a 4.6-inch IPS display with Triluminos Display technology and a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It's a little strange to see a non-Full HD display in the flagship, but you can understand the logic of Sony manufacturers - lower resolution - less processor power in processing images - less battery consumption - another plus compared to the main Z3 model.

Good viewing angles and excellent color reproduction are now common features of modern screens. Can it be brighter? It turns out - you can! Firstly, the phone uses Live Color LED for natural display of colors (130% capture of sRGB palette). Secondly, in the "Display" section there is an item "Improvement of images", where two options are offered: X-Reality for mobile, as it is said in the description, raises the brightness and clarity of the image, well, the limit mode does not need to be described. The picture on the display really becomes juicier, and in some cases even too much.

For the display, you can also select a white balance if the current settings do not suit you in some way.

The display backlight is bright and high quality. The minimum level is enough for everyday use.

Finally, there is the already familiar to Sony "gloved" function.

Interface

The device has a traditional proprietary interface and works under the system latest version Android 4.4.4.

The quick options and notification tabs are labels, not small icons. The main desktop can be ordinary or branded, in the latter case it is a matrix of large tiles.

Performance

The 2.5 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM give the 2014 phone almost limitless possibilities.

Initially, the user has access to approximately 11 GB of memory. The phone does not have a default memory selection option, but it is possible to transfer data (only videos, music and photos) to an SD card by selecting the necessary item in the “Memory” settings menu.

The quality of music playback is quite high.

Camera

The main 20.7-megapixel autofocus camera with pulsed LED flash produces great pictures in all conditions, including close-ups and night shots (up to ISO 12800, Exmos RS 1/2.3 sensor).

A list of all available functions appears by pressing the icon under the capture keys. There are more than 10 pre-installed versions and new ones can be downloaded. Most of them know from previous models:

Manual (from image size to ISO sensitivity and white balance);

Super auto mode (minimum settings, shooting with 8 MP);

Background defocus;

Panorama (it comes out well in trembling hands of almost any curvature);

Timeshift burst (selection of the best image from the series before and after pressing the shutter release);

artistic effect;

AR Effect (shooting with hand-drawn objects and characters);

Timeshift video (shooting with high frame rate and slow motion);

Sending photos to social media web and Evernote.

Among the new versions are Sound Photo (photo with sound), AR entertainment (new drawn objects), multi camera (shooting with several devices from different points), with a face (insert a face into a picture).

Photos and videos with effects are saved in separate subfolders inside the DCIM / Xperia folder: TIMESHIFT_VIDEO, AR_EFFECT, etc.

Video shooting is performed with a maximum resolution of 4K - 3840x2160 pixels, if the corresponding option is enabled. Before starting recording, the phone honestly warns that it can turn off in case of overheating. A minute of recording will take about 400 MB of memory, while standard 1080p is 120-130. The quality of the videos allows you to watch them on a large screen TV.

Wireless interfaces

The smartphone contains, perhaps, all modern interfaces.

Offline work

In the active mode (permanent 3G synchronization, 1 hour of Internet and games each, half an hour of chatting, power saving modes are disabled), the phone was discharged in 8 hours and 40 minutes. This is more than the market average and is approximately equal to a whole working day. If you use it less intensively, then you can reach up to 2 days, and including the Internet if necessary - and all 3-4 days.

Movies can be watched for about 9 hours. The battery discharge from 10% to 0 occurs at the same rate as at higher rates.

All of this applies to normal use. To extend the operating time, several battery saving modes are provided at once.

STAMINA is a standard mode for Sony phones, here you can also select an application that is allowed to work in standby mode and turn on battery saver if the phone is often used as a clock.

The most economical option is Ultra STAMINA (other Z-smartphones did not have it), it disables all others and takes about 15 seconds to activate. After that, you find yourself on a modified desktop, and even the settings will be cut down. Only Bluetooth and basic functions will remain available.

Video review of the smartphone Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

Can anyone live at least one day without a mobile phone? Of course not! Nowadays, young people do not even allow such a possibility. From year to year, devices are constantly being improved. Manufacturers equip them with innovative technologies. Now mobile phone is a mini computer. With it, you can access the Internet from anywhere, type documents and much more. The graphics and sound of modern devices are at a high level, so you can often see people playing games or listening to music.

Presented two years ago sony phone Xperia Z3 Compact. It is a smaller version of the Xperia Z3. The device is designed for people who, for various reasons, do not want to purchase a "shovel". Such a nickname was given to smartphones with large sizes. Surprisingly, this category of buyers, because of the dimensions, sacrificed software equipment and technical characteristics, since they had to buy the simplest models. Consumer demand for them, though small, but still there. For this reason, some manufacturers have released phones in compact sizes. The Sony brand is no exception.

Xperia Z3 Compact (specs, reviews and description will be presented in the article) is a full-fledged smartphone. hardware platform and software fully comply with modern requirements. At least that's what the manufacturer claims. And is it really so, let's figure it out.

Equipment

Sony has recently moved away from flashy packaging materials. The Xperia Z3 Compact was no exception. The box is very simple, made of unvarnished cardboard, without any frills. On it, the buyer will see the image of the phone, the name of the model, and a brief description. Inside it is divided into three compartments. The partitions between them are quite thin. In them, the manufacturer put a charger, the device itself, simple headphones and a USB cable. If the index D5803 is on the packing box, then the headset is not included in the kit. It must be purchased additionally. You can reassure the buyer only by the fact that the price of the headphones is quite acceptable. Documentation is required for any device:

  • The instruction manual contains specifications phone Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and other useful information.
  • The warranty card is filled in by the seller on the day of purchase.
  • List of service centers.

Complete set, at once to tell, rather modest. However, it is fully justified by the cost, which starts at 20,000 rubles. Phones intended for sale in Ukraine are not supplied with a headset.

Appearance

The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact phone has a large screen, which is an absolute advantage. It was possible to increase it by reducing the frame. Now it is very narrow (3 mm), almost invisible. Manufacturers chose to abandon clear, straight shapes with rough corners. Now the side faces are rounded, but the rectangle is still visible. The curve of the arc is small, but this is what softens the usual traditional design. There are two speakers. They are arranged symmetrically (top and bottom). The holes are the same shape. The name of the company flaunts under the top speaker. Also in this part on the right side there is a camera. There is no standard arrangement of control buttons, they are on the screen. You can see them only by unlocking the phone. The side frame is made of polycarbonate. Thanks to the change in material (previously metal was used), it became possible to give the device originality due to transparency. Such a design decision significantly increased the status perception of the model and transferred it to the category of youth equipment.

The side edges are somewhat rough to the touch. This makes it possible to eliminate slipping, so the phone can be confidently held and simultaneously operated with one hand. The manufacturer claims that the polycarbonate material has excellent cushioning properties, which act as a serious protection when the smartphone falls from a height.

Type of a design of this model - a monoblock. The case of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (the characteristics of the phone are in the article) consists of two plates and a frame. Slots for memory cards and SIM are located on the sides. Slots are closed with special caps. In order to get the cards, you just need to open them. Next to these slots is a connector for a USB cable. The back panel is made of glass. It only has a flash and a camera lens. Currently, you can purchase the device in four colors: black, white, green, red-orange.

The power and lock button of the phone is located on the side face, on the right side. It is round in shape, the surface is chrome-plated. Next to it is a volume rocker. The hardware camera key flaunts at the bottom of the side face. Shooting can be done even underwater. The manufacturer also equipped the device with a special connector for the docking station. At the bottom there is a microphone and a hole for a cord. Headphones are connected from above, the standard jack is 3.5 mm.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Specifications

Before describing in detail the main components of the smartphone, it is necessary to dwell on the technical characteristics. Let's take a look at what the manufacturer offers in this model:

Screen

Will buyers be surprised by the display that the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone is equipped with? The characteristics of the screen are quite acceptable, although by modern standards the indicators are not very high. In the manual, you can read the following information provided by the manufacturer:

  • Screen type - Triluminos.
  • Resolution - 1280×720.
  • Matrix - IPS, touch.
  • Diagonal - 4.6".
  • The pixel density is 319 ppi.

To improve the image, a special X-Reality technology is used. There is no usual screen protector in this model. The manufacturer decided to use glass. Brightness settings are adjusted in two ways: automatically and manually. Multitouch is designed for 10 simultaneous touches. You can work with the display both with wet hands and with gloves. There is a proximity sensor on the front surface. If you close it while talking on the phone, it automatically locks the screen.

The colors are quite saturated. The display can reproduce up to 16 million colors. Viewing angles are good. When the machine is tilted 45°, the contrast decreases. Changes occur due to the highlighted black areas.

sound

What sound should you expect from the Sony D5803 Xperia Z3 Compact (black)? The characteristics of the speakers are not high performance. Unfortunately, there is no expressiveness. The sound is muffled, noises are observed. When you turn on the maximum volume, wheezing appears. Given that there are two speakers in this model, buyers were hoping for a better result.

The owners will not be happy during the conversation either. The voice of the interlocutor, though recognizable, but there is no clarity. However, timbre and intonation are well recognized.

The Walkman player is used to play music files on the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (phone specifications are shown above). It is equipped with standard settings and, according to audiophiles, has nothing remarkable. The only thing that deserves attention is surround sound and innovative xLoud and Clear Phase technologies. You can use the ClearAudio+ option to improve performance. For connoisseurs of music tracks, the manufacturer recommends using the MDR-NC31EM headset, which guarantees a noise reduction of 98%.

Camera

This model equipped with two cameras. This no longer surprises anyone. All modern smartphones are equipped in a similar way. The only difference is the resolution. Will the connoisseurs of photography like the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803)? The characteristics of the main camera are impressive - 20.7 megapixels. It is equipped with a G lens, autofocus with a distance of 27mm. If necessary, the settings can be changed manually, choosing the best result. It is worth noting that in automatic mode, images are obtained with a size of 3840 × 2160 pix, which corresponds to a resolution of 8 megapixels. In the settings, you can select the highest value that will allow you to take photos of 5248 × 3936.

The owners, having tested the main camera, came to the following conclusions. The pictures are of good enough quality. At close range, sharpness decreases only in the corners, and then only slightly. In the photographs, the shadows are transmitted well, the noise is practically absent. The main advantage of this model is the ability to take pictures underwater.

On the front camera (2.2 MP) it makes no sense to stop for a long time. Its resolution suggests that selfie lovers will not be able to get high-quality pictures.

Video filming

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (camera feature above) opens up great opportunities for shooting videos. For example, you can record the same scene from different viewing angles or use background sound (rain noise, birdsong, etc.). Video resolution: 4K (UHD) and 1080 p. There is a high frame rate mode. Also, if desired, you can use the effects of slowing down.

A wide range of video recording features appealed to many owners. The largest number Positive feedback was received by the shooting mode at a speed of 60 fps (resolution - 1080 p).

Software

The characteristics of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact phone directly depend on the power of the processor and the operating system. They affect the speed of the device. This model is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor with a Krait 400 core type. The frequency is 2.5 GHz. As for the platform, the phone runs on an updated Google versions Android 4.4.4. The interface is branded, is a proprietary development of Sony. Icons and settings items are large and clear. Surprisingly, only this model has a reboot option. Previously, you just had to turn the phone off and on again. New devices were able to integrate with game console, and not only a smartphone, but also a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact tablet can act as a screen. The characteristics of these devices are compatible with the Sony PlayStation 4 model. Mobile devices are able to display everything that happens on the TV screen. The manufacturer has provided optional accessory special stand-fastener. With its help, the phone or tablet joins the joystick.

Battery

In modern smartphones enough important parameter is the duration battery life. It is, of course, the responsibility of the battery. But not everything depends on its capacity. Also quite important are such parameters as screen resolution, brightness level, etc. How did the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (black) perform?

Battery specifications:

  • Type - lithium-ion.
  • Volume - 2600 mAh.
  • Charging time - 3 hours.
  • Standby - about 900 hours.
  • Music playback through the headset - 110 h.
  • When talking - 14 hours.

During testing of the apparatus, the following results were obtained. It is worth considering that Wi-Fi was turned on on the phone.

  • Reading mode with low brightness level - 22 hours.
  • Watch videos in high format - 10 hours.
  • 3D game option - 5 hours

Thus, these results indicate quite worthy characteristics. Not every smartphone has such indicators. How did the manufacturer achieve them? For battery life, the screen is the main draw. It is not very large and is not equipped with FullHD-resolution. It is thanks to him that the indicators of the duration of work without recharging are so high.

Connection

This model supports network formats: 2G, 3G, 4G. You can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to receive and transmit data. With the Internet turned on, the owners did not notice any system freezes or braking of the device. Data transfer can be performed at speeds up to 150 Mb/s. As for the signal mobile operator, then the owners had no comments, the phone catches the network perfectly.

Conclusion

Describing the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact model (you now know the full specification), you can highlight a large list of advantages. Owner reviews confirm them in 100% of cases.

Of course, there were some remarks. Some owners are unhappy with the screen. You will have to agree with them, as there are some flaws. Replacing the material of the side faces is also hardly an advantage, since the phone has lost the status of expensive equipment. Now he is more positioned as a teenager. By the way, it’s not for nothing that the manufacturer added green and orange options. They are great for young energetic people. And buyers with conservative views can choose the classic design - white and black.

pros

Full of necessary and not very functions, very advanced in terms of functionality, easy intuitive menu, the device is 5+, if not for the build quality and, as it turned out, complete absence dealer support

Minuses

According to the reviews of the servicemen, not only the workshop where the device was repaired - frequent calls due to factory defects or when purchased under the guise of a new repair device, even in large "grids"

Impression

"Compact Z-3" - a complete "hat" - was purchased on 12/01/14, and already on 01/18/15 the screen began to peel off from the corner and a strip appeared along the entire length of the screen on the side, the sensor did not work at first, but after the phone completely sat down , tormented by the fact that he lived his life for almost two days (played the video, made sounds, as if taking pictures of something, turned on the alarm clock, while the screen was "off" and due to problems with the sensor it was impossible to cut it out) and again charged/reloaded touch screen earned, albeit with a strip and a screen extending from one corner from the case. And all this taking into account the fact that the device was purchased new in Svyaznoy. Naturally, under warranty, it was handed over to the Sony branded dealer center in Moscow, in the hope that Sony is the name, support for the "terminator", etc., such as quality control, etc., but in the end after 30 days that he spent there, instead of repair, a conclusion was received, not even from the manufacturer, but from some third-party LLC, in which "like an independent examination was carried out" (for such a "mastodon" as "Sony" it turns out in Russia does not have its own expert institution): refusal to repair, allegedly due to water getting inside, allegedly scratches and careless operation, although it was pasted over with films on both sides for more than 2 tr. even the guarantee is separate from the device from Svyaznoy and was constantly in a case, they didn’t drop the device into the water and didn’t go with it in the rain (winter, gentle operation, by a girl) - they gave it to an independent workshop with a good reputation, it was opened with us - verdict: it was not even opened at the dealership, there are no signs of water getting inside the device, manufacturing defects. As a result, repairs for 14.5 tr. and the loss of the waterproof function as a negative "bonus" since changed the touch screen assembly. As explained in the workshop, there are many calls with this kind of breakdown, frequent cases of sales even in branded network centers (M-video, Svyaznoy, Euroset) of repair devices under the guise of new or defective devices, as in our case. After that, I found out from friends - two who bought the same devices had similar problems, although from experience with the Z-1 there were no such problems, they even filmed under water at sea, and everything is ok and not only with me. Since then, this long-suffering "Z-3 compact" seems to be working and not buggy. The verdict-dealer service, despite the high price of the gadget, is simply absent, the manufacturer does not bear any responsibility for its marriage to the buyer. Although in terms of its qualities, the device suits completely, advanced, full of functions. "Stubs" that I also use, that the 4th, that the 5th dropped several times - only the broken glass panels changed, dropped into the bath - after drying, it was resurrected, once even poured hot coffee 4-ku-dried, but approximately A week later, the "home" button began to fail - I had to change it for 1.5t.r.

pros

Build quality.

Speed.

The possibility of increasing memory.

Glass on both sides.

Waterproof.

Minuses

The above mentioned problem with spontaneous discharge.

Impression

After Lumia 925, impressions are entirely positive. I will not return to the wretched crutch WP, with which I spent 2 years. But Sony also gave me a surprise with a minus sign.

After a month of use, the phone began to discharge very quickly (in 7 hours) in all modes, in active, in "sleep" and even (attention) in the off (!!!) state and was constantly warm. In search of the cause of this accident, he searched all the Internet, tried to turn off everything that was possible, several times completely reset the bodies. to the factory settings, a couple of times I flashed it over the cable, through the Sony utility. In general, I took it to the service, I received a fully working device in 2 weeks. To the question: "What did you do?" - received the answer: "reflash". In general, I was glad that they didn’t understand, but I didn’t understand the answer a little, because. I stitched it myself 2 times.

It doesn't matter, now the phone holds a charge for 2 days in the average use mode (talks 3 hours / day, some Internet) and about 20-30% remains. Happy as an elephant. Yes, I also bought safety glasses on the front and back, I really like the tactile sensations from the glass and a couple of wires for magnetic charging, so as not to mess around with plugs.

Is the review helpful?

The fashion for mini-smartphones has not yet passed. Various manufacturers now and then announce smaller versions of their flagships, counting on a decent level of sales due to a sounding and memorable name. Unfortunately, in most cases this is pure, uncomplicated marketing in the bad sense of the word. Mini-copies often have nothing in common with flagships, except for a remotely similar design, and their technical filling leaves much to be desired. Swimming - we know.

The real mini-flagship from Sony, which appeared last year with the Xperia Z1, has somewhat changed the attitude towards this class of devices. It really was a smaller copy of the older device: the platform, the camera - all the technical stuffing of the compact version was borrowed from the flagship. "Compact" took over from him even protection from dust and moisture. Only the size and resolution of the display differed - for 4.3 inches Full HD is simply not needed. Sony understood this - and decided not to waste resources for nothing.

In our memory, Z1 Compact is one of the most productive smartphones with a screen diagonal of 4.3 inches. Literally a gift that has no analogues for those who wanted a compact but powerful gadget. Obviously, Sony decided to update the Compact once a year, unlike the usual "Zetok". And so that there was no lag in the serial number, the number 2 in the new generation of the “compact” had to be skipped. So let's meet the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact! Before starting testing, we note that the Z1 Compact sank in various online stores to a very “delicious” fifteen thousand rubles. For the price, this is truly a gift! It is all the more interesting to see if there is something in the Z3 Compact that will make the user pay for it somewhere around seven thousand more.

Appearance and ergonomics

Let's start with the obvious. Smartphones with a screen diagonal of 4.6 inches are not in vogue now - we have already begun to forget how convenient they are to use. Z3 Compact easily fits into any pocket and does not stick out of it. The device is really easy to operate with one hand - even the fair sex will not have to stretch their thumb to any of the four faces. Hands do not get tired of prolonged communication with this gadget, because it weighs less than 130 grams.

Sony engineers pleasantly surprised us by increasing the display of the Compact from 4.3 to 4.6 inches, but the dimensions of the device remained the same. They are the same for both Compact models: 127 mm high and 65 mm wide. It is noteworthy that the thickness of the case was reduced by almost a millimeter - from 9.5 mm to 8.6 mm. In general, the Z3 Compact turned out to be even smaller than its predecessor.

The layout of the keys and connectors on the device is the same as on the vast majority of Android smartphones - you get used to the Z3 Compact very quickly. Perhaps the main innovation in terms of design can be considered the transfer of the external speaker to the front panel - the calculation is that the phone is usually placed on the table "face" up, so that the speaker will not be covered.

The branded round power button, made of aluminum, is now slightly larger. Next to it is a rocker button for volume control and a dedicated hardware camera key. All buttons have a short and distinct stroke.

The side faces of the body of the new "Compact" are made of transparent plastic. Due to this, it seems that they are concave, although in fact they, of course, are convex. The inscriptions on the ends cast a shadow "into" the smartphone - an interesting optical effect. There are special inserts on the corners of the case that protect the case from impacts when dropped. Whether this works is unknown: we did not dare to check.

Card slots are hidden under special plastic caps in order to maintain the tightness of the structure. The device is protected from dust and moisture according to IP65/68 standards. The manufacturer claims that if all the plugs are tightly closed, the gadget can be in fresh water at a depth of one and a half meters for no more than thirty minutes.

Under one flap there is a Micro-USB interface and a slot for a microSD memory card, under the other there is a Nano-SIM slot. Between them is the traditional Sony magnetic connector for connecting the device to the docking station. At the top there is a universal 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting a wired headset, and at the bottom there is a strap loop.

The “back” of the new Compact is made of glass, while the predecessor had a plastic one. Despite this, the smartphone does not slip in the hands at all, and it looks much more expensive and more interesting than the previous version ( The opinion of the author may not coincide with the opinion of the editors. — approx. ed. ). On the rear panel is the lens of the main 20-megapixel camera along with a LED flash.

The available range of colors for the Z3 Compact is its own - it does not overlap with either the colors of the "regular" Xperia Z3, or with the colorings of the Z1 Compact. This season, Sony designers offer bright orange and mint green along with the traditional black and white colors. In advertising photos, new colors look very interesting and unusual.
