I went to the store to choose new portable speakers for my laptop. I listened to a bunch of speakers and took this one. If you don't take into account the relatively low volume and mediocre sound quality via Bluetooth, the device is excellent. The switch turns on/off normally, but it is somehow tight and uncomfortable. The battery lasts the entire working day and charges quickly enough. The sound for such a compact size is bomb. I usually place it directly on the laptop panel; it works great as a resonator for the lows. The greatest low-frequency output is achieved on a hard surface, close to the listener. Mini Bass Shaker technology, which allows you to use any surface on which the device stands to improve the quality of bass - rules. In conjunction with the SRS Audio Sandbox program, which allows you to get the most out of portable acoustics, the speaker has no competitors on the market, especially considering the price.
Verdict: there are no competitors in terms of size/quality, definitely take it.
P.S. It connects normally via bluetooth to the phone, the microphone is quite adequate. An idiot's dream has come true, now my phone can ring with bass. :D

    Advantages:

Volume. Sound quality. Size. Working hours.

    Flaws:

Average quality of work via bluetooth. Strange switch.

    Everything is fine, I'm happy.

    Advantages:

I bought it yesterday for my father-in-law. So far, I’m as happy as an elephant that ate a bucket of bananas. purchase history: they gave me 1000 points, I was looking for where to use them. I came across this gadget. I bought it for 1290 - a little expensive, but paid only 290. Listen to the tablet, connect it via wire and Bluetooth - the sound is excellent, fills the kitchen. but realistically for 5-7 sq.m. I listen to Mouzon and films, films are generally great! The built-in subwoofer is cool, the table vibrates, the sound is strong and thick. In general, a good gadget and stylish, a little expensive for the full price, but I liked it. The sound of the tablet is now a pleasure and the wire does not dangle, I don’t like headphones - they feel cramped and uncomfortable for me. Take it, you will be pleased.

I've been using this one for quite some time. I bought it for trips into nature, or just to ride a bike with music. When I bought it, the first thing I liked was the price. It looks cool from the outside. The sound is quite good, I personally really liked it. Plays quite loud. In general, as for me, this is an excellent acoustics both in price and sound quality. I recommend it to everyone.

Suitable for listening to music in a quiet room. If you place it on a well-resonating surface, you can improve the quality of low frequencies.

    Advantages:

    Good mid and high sound

    Flaws:

Of course, there is no bass. Like most wireless speakers, it makes a very loud beep when turned on and off. Poor quality voice communication module.

For this price, you won’t find a better speaker in terms of price/quality ratio. Happy as an elephant, you can’t find anything better for trips into nature. And if you connect it via OTG, you can recharge it while in operation.

    Advantages:

A chic speaker, stylish, loud, metal body, there is even something similar to bass. Good equipment, works flawlessly, the charge holds for 7 hours or even more. Charges quite quickly via micro USB.

I listen exclusively via BLUETOOTH! I compared it with a wired connection - the wired one is louder, but the distortion at max volume is very strong. There is no difference in sound quality unless, of course, your phone uses old version BLUETOOTH protocol. The sound from iPhone 4S and Laptop is simply amazing! I'm shocked by the bass of this "baby" (proprietary bass shaker technology - the surface on which the headset is installed begins to resonate, forming bass support). Overall, I'm delighted - I recommend it to everyone!

There are no analogues for that kind of money, I checked. If you were to listen to this speaker blindly, you would never guess that it is so small and compact. If you want to sound like a picnic, this is what you need, feel free to take it. I bought it for 1250r, I use it with HTC 601 DUO. Happy as an elephant.

If they added at least some kind of indication... Regarding the fact that there is no volume control, it is not needed... at all, if you listen via wire, then you adjust it from the device (tablet or laptop), and even more so from the phone via Bluetooth. There was an opportunity to compare with another speaker of similar power - the wave bomber is simply a champion. Very pleased with the purchase.

    Advantages:

A small and compact portable speaker, the body is made of metal. During operation, reliability was confirmed. It stands perfectly on almost any surface, does not slip, the lower part is rubberized. Due to the latter, sound vibrations spread over the surface on which it was placed, for example, on a wooden table. The bass is simply amazing for such a small device. There is also a function speakerphone which is very convenient.

    Flaws:

When listening to music via Bluetooth at maximum volume, it discharges in a few hours. With moderate use, charging lasts for several days. The supplied cable was not very good, the plug quickly broke. Surround sound lovers should look for another model. The bass is "pumping", but there is a feeling of "squeakiness" when compared with speakers one step higher.

I bought it when Crimea was not yet ours and when the ruble against the dollar was at a decent level. Cost me 1.2k, which...

    Advantages:

Good, rich sound. Good assembly, despite the rather unsightly switches (call and power button), the speaker is assembled monolithically and firmly, nothing rattles or plays anywhere, even after several falls I didn’t notice anything except dents and scratches.
The sound is really good, it is moderately loud, but there is bass and volume, especially if the speaker is placed on a suitable surface.

  • The time for vacations and periodic outings into nature is in full swing, and the key to any pleasant picnic can be the right music. Correct in terms of sound quality. And this is where the ambush comes in. Our constant companions in the form of smartphones or tablets cannot yet compete with miniature speaker systems. When it comes to portable audio, names like Jawbone or Monster immediately pop up. However, solutions from these manufacturers are expensive, about 3,000 - 4,000 rubles. Are you ready to shell out that amount for a couple of musical evenings a year in nature? I don't, especially after testing the Wave Bomber, which costs more than half the price!

    Design and dimensions

The manufacturer under the Wave brand really cares about the buyer, so he decided not to skimp and dress his mini-speaker in metal armor made of textured metal. By the way, although the surface looks great, it is quite unpleasant to the touch. So I advise you to try to touch the device before buying and how it feels to you.

On the bottom side there is black glossy plastic, which has a terrible seam. Such protrusions are usually formed when joining plastic in production. Of course, this is not a critical point and does not greatly affect the impression of the gadget, but it is still a minus from a design point of view.

The column is assembled perfectly. There are no defects other than those described above.

On the front side, the one with the inscription “Wave”, there is one single button responsible for connecting, accepting or hanging up incoming call, and also for something else. To the left of the button is a microphone hole, and to the right is a multi-colored LED.

The dimensions of the device in comparison with similar models from competitors are clearly presented in the table below. Since we're talking about comparisons, let's also look at the order of prices and the possibilities for connecting similar speakers to sound sources.

Height Width Thickness Weight Interface Price
Wave Bomber 3.5 mm / Bluetooth / NFC

    1290

    JBL Micro Wireless Blue 3.5mm/Bluetooth

    1990

    JetBalance Golf Bluetooth

Obviously, Wave Bomber is a kind of golden mean in terms of versatility in terms of connections and price.

The kit includes a 3.5 cable for direct connection of a smartphone, tablet to the speaker, a special silicone mat (more on that later), detailed instructions and a microUSB cable for charging the gadget from a computer. The manufacturer recommends charging the audio system from a computer. Nothing is said about connecting to a power outlet via third-party adapters.

    Specifications

The audio system has the following technical characteristics:

    • rated power 3 W
    • reproduced frequency range 120 - 20,000 Hz
    • signal-to-noise ratio 80 dB
    • built-in microphone
    • Bluetooth 3.0 (A2DP)
    • NFC (for easier device pairing)
    • battery 400 mAh
    • 3.5 Line IN
    • microUSB (for charging)

    Usage

Device pairing can only occur via a Bluetooth connection or using NFC. The latest technology only simplifies the first connection of a smartphone to a speaker, since it is impossible to constantly transmit sound using this protocol due to the too short range. In the future, the connection is maintained via the same Bluetooth.

The process of introducing devices is described in detail in the instructions; it is simple, so we will not dwell on this point. Successful connection is confirmed by a blue indicator light and a corresponding beeping sound.

Wave Bomber is able to receive and reject incoming calls, transmit voice using the built-in microphone, and also switch from a speaker to a smartphone speaker.

One battery charge lasts for about 6 hours of sound playback when connected wirelessly. Not bad at all! The gadget charges from a computer in about 2-3 hours.

The HadsFree function works at the proper level. It’s quite convenient to talk through the built-in microphone even at arm’s length from the speaker.

    Sound

As we have already found out, Wave Bomber can be connected to a smartphone either via Bluetooth (with or without NFC) or via a cable via a 3.5 mm input.

WITH wireless connection there were problems. Neither with the LG G Flex, nor with the iPhone 5, nor with the iPad mini, the speaker could really reproduce sound without stuttering, disconnections, etc. The speaker refused to connect to the Korean G2 at all, either with NFC or without it. However, we still managed to check the quality of music transmission via Bluetooth! Came to the rescue MacBook Air 11’’, who went through such a tough selection for sparring on the part of Wave Bomber.

The quality of the transmitted music turned out to be at a good level. The volume is enough to start a modest company in an apartment, but it is still quite comfortable to be next to the speaker - it is not deafening. You shouldn’t have any big illusions about such devices, and, in my opinion, Bomber pulls out sound quite well for its form factor, including low frequencies. The latter can be felt especially well if the speaker is placed on any flat resonating surface. Wood is best, of course.

After I tried to connect the Wave Bomber with a cable to the iPhone via the 3.5 mm port, return to wireless communication there was no more desire. Wired sound is noticeably different for the better: the music plays louder, the sound becomes more intelligible, and bass appears.

By the way, the low frequencies in the hero of today’s article arise due to a special resonating silicone surface in interaction with anything that can resonate while the speaker stands motionless on it. This technology is called by the manufacturer Mini Bass Shaker.

They say that if you simply install it on the unique silicone mat included in the kit, the speaker will acquire a more interesting sound. This is complete nonsense! This accessory has virtually no effect on the quality of playback, so you can safely forget about it, or put it under a pot of geraniums, for example. Why should good things go to waste?

    Wave Bomber and STK SMC950

You may have already read a review of the mini-speaker from STK earlier on our blog. As a result of direct comparison, it was a draw and here's why. Via Bluetooth, Wave Bomber performed much worse, both in volume and bass. The SMC950 sounded much more interesting in terms of sound purity. So, we have 0:1 in favor of the speaker from STK.

However, Bomber still produced higher volume through the cable. Since the SMC950 does not have a 3.5 input at all, there is nothing special to compare it with. We get a 1:1 ratio.

Naturally, I would give preference to the STK SMC950, since I still use the Bluetooth connection more often, and this speaker produces an order of magnitude better sound. For cable there is a home good acoustics and this is exactly what should be used for a wired connection.

    Bottom line

The Wave Bomber turned out to be a very dubious gadget, although on paper everything looks just great.

Is the Wave Bomber worth buying?

I think no. The speaker has an excellent design, convenient dimensions and theoretical omnivorousness in terms of connectivity. However, in practice, the playback quality could be better; in addition, do not forget about the incompatibility with many modern devices, even though the required Bluetooth profiles are supported. The same STK SMC950 looks much more attractive compared to the solution from Wave, since it costs about 1,000 rubles, is capable of producing higher quality and deeper sound, and it connects to anything.

    All photos are clickable

There are many types of portable acoustics with support for wireless sound broadcasting on the market. Almost every well-known manufacturer has made its mark in this field with very interesting solutions, be it . Unfortunately, good sound, the modest dimensions and interesting design of the devices are accompanied by a completely immodest price of more than $100. In general, there is nothing surprising in this, and for wireless speakers from well-known brands you always have to shell out a decent amount, or look for a lesser-known alternative, and this is where problems often arise. In particular, you buy some nameless product for 1000–1500 rubles, and then you simply regret the money spent and think that you should have spent the same amount and taken a proven solution. However, there are exceptions, one of which I want to talk about in this article. His name is Wave Bomber. Looking ahead, I’ll note that this thing surprised me, which doesn’t happen often, especially when it comes to previously unknown brands. I don't believe in miracles, but sometimes they happen. Well, let's talk about this miniature speaker in more detail.

    Metal

Typically, plastic is used in the construction of speaker systems, and metal can only be found in the protective grille of the speaker. In the case of the Wave Bomber, there is a little more “noble” iron than usual, and in addition to the grille, it is also used in the body of the device.

Most of it is made of some kind of light alloy, perhaps aluminum with a texture like raw metal - this solution looks great. In addition, it also has a practical component - fingerprints are invisible on such a surface.

Only the lower part of the speaker is made of plastic, and here there is something to complain about. Firstly, I didn’t like the joint, it doesn’t look very neat. Secondly, gloss. Theoretically, it should look good against the background of matte metal, but in practice, it somehow doesn’t look very good. Although, this is all a matter of taste, and the prints in that part are not particularly noticeable. So the main complaint is only about the joint between the halves of the plastic part of the column. The speaker grille, by the way, is also glossy, but in this case everything is fine and such gloss is on topic:

In general, the appearance of the speaker is positive, which is due to the abundance of metal and its texture. In addition, it is made very carefully - there are no backlashes or any other movements of individual parts of the device when squeezing and twisting (I don’t know why it should be twisted, but I tried to do it, and why not?).

It is worth mentioning the dimensions of the Wave Bomber, which are 62x62x50 mm. That is, the device will take up minimal space in a backpack or bag and you can safely carry it with you. Suddenly you want to listen to music during lunch, for example, to improve the process of consuming healthy calories, so to speak.

I will also add that the lower part of the speaker contains an insert made of rubber or dense silicone, but it is used not only to increase the stability of the device on flat and smooth surfaces. The gadget implements technology Mini Bass Shaker, which allows you to use any surface on which the device stands to improve the quality of bass, turning it into a kind of resonator, and we will talk about this in the next part of the review.

    Petty and cheeky

That's right - for its size the speaker sounds not just loud, but boldly, although it contains a wide-range speaker with only a power of 3 watts. However, they turned out to be enough to completely drown out the very good built-in acoustics in the . And I'm talking about both volume and bass. Perhaps the reason was the same Mini Bass Shaker technology, but somehow I didn’t notice a particularly strong difference between different surfaces.

Although, on a thick glass table, the accessory began to sound even a little weaker than when raised in the air. But on the wooden surface a little depth was added. But again, the difference is not too critical to take into account. The main thing is the result, and it is good even without additional surfaces. Moreover, the column turned out to be omnivorous. She copes well with both pop music and electronic music, both heavy and light ethnic motifs.

Sound can be transmitted to the device via wire via a standard 3.5 mm jack and via Bluetooth. In the latter case, A2DP and AVRCP profiles are supported. I really liked the included cable - flat, rubberized and soft. Its length is one meter:

As for Bluetooth broadcasting, no miracles happened. The sound quality in this mode is worse. It is less detailed, the bass is weaker, although it is quite suitable for the background.

The manufacturer does not focus on the version of the Bluetooth protocol used, but this is obvious 2.0 or 2.1 . In newer versions the situation with the quality of audio broadcast is slightly better.

I’ll add that to connect the speaker wirelessly, you need to put it in search mode. To do this, just hold down the multifunction button at the bottom for 6–7 seconds until the LED starts flashing blue and red:

After this, the Wave Bomber easily connected to both the iPhone and MacBook. If desired, the accessory can be used as a speakerphone and answer calls. There are no revelations here - a regular omnidirectional microphone, standard functionality.

The power of the built-in battery is enough for 6–7 hours of operation of the speaker in autonomous mode. Charging occurs from USB port in 2–3 hours.

    Good

As I said at the beginning of the article, the Wave Bomber acoustics surprised me. This applies to both the sound quality and the materials used in the device body. Yes, there are nuances, such as the design features of the lower plastic part of the speaker. It is not entirely clear whether the resonator works, but there is enough bass as is.

The main advantage is the price. Charge the manufacturer $100 for a speaker, and in this case it’s better to take something more well-known. But the hero of the review will cost only $40–45 and for this money he is a great alternative branded and well-promoted acoustic systems with often exorbitant price tags in Russia.

Ultra-compact, bass-heavy, in a durable case - it seems like one of the best miniature audio devices that you can throw in your bag and remember about it only when you need to unwind a little with your favorite music.

    Specifications

    • Speaker: 3 watts
    • Frequency range: 120-20000 Hz
    • Wireless connection: with A2DP support
    • Audio input: 3.5 mm
    • Battery: built-in, 400 mAh, up to 7 hours of operation
    • Dimensions: 62 x 62 x 50 mm
    • Additionally: NFC, work as a speakerphone

    Equipment and appearance

The Wave Bomber's packaging is simple: a compact cardboard box in which you can find the speaker itself, a cord with a 3.5 mm jack on both sides and a special lining for a more stable position of the speaker on the table.

The metal cylinder of the speaker is very compact, the upper end is covered with a speaker mesh, the lower part of the body is made of plastic. There are no special frills, but the Wave Bomber looks pretty nice.

    Control and connectivity

In fact, there are no control buttons on the column - only an on/off slider, yes function button, responsible for activating the pairing mode via Bluetooth or answering/hanging up a call - after all, Bomber can also work as a speakerphone. If the sound source does not have the ability to connect wirelessly, you can use the cable included in the kit. And if your smartphone has not only Bluetooth, but also NFC, then pairing a pocket sound source and a Wave speaker will be as easy as possible.

    Operating the device

As for the genres of music that would be more suitable for the speaker, no such genres were noticed; Bomber coped equally well with both classics and noticeably heavier works. Of course, you won’t be able to hear all the subtleties of the London Symphony’s concert recording under Gergiev’s baton, but the speaker’s goals are different, so don’t forget this moment.

The capacity of the built-in battery may seem very small, only 400 mAh, but the Wave Bomber is not a boombox with a pair of low-frequency speakers and the size of half a table, which is why, in fact, the speaker is ready to delight the user with fairly decent sound for up to 7 hours. By the way, there is still bass, and for the dimensions of the Bobmer it is quite decent. This is achieved by using a vibrating subwoofer, which uses smooth hard surfaces as a resonator.

Well, traditionally for Wave products, a device called Bomber is capable of performing the duties of a speakerphone, although, of course, in a noisy environment or from a distance of a meter or two, it will be very difficult to use this ability of the device.

    Bottom line

At recommended retail price 1290 rubles Wave Bomber is almost the ideal pocket speaker. There may, of course, be a lack of playback control buttons, but for the task of broadcasting a small area around you in nature, in the office or at the kitchen table during breakfast, this accessory is quite enough.
