Good. I continue to post mockups and fill this section with fresh selections. This time it will be a mockup (or mockup) of a stylish red calendar. 4 calendar displays: A4 vertical, A4 horizontal and 2 expanded options. The calendar, unfortunately, is for 2014, but this will not be a problem for the one who makes the calendar, as long as there is a basis and design. I will now tell you more about this layout in more detail.

Each layout has a good resolution of 2440 by 3250 pixels at 300 dpi. This is a very high quality layout. Another point: this is a wall calendar. However, you will see for yourself.

Expanded A4 calendar option

The design of the calendar is made in strict colors and outlines. There are no images here except for the red figure at the top and bottom of the calendar. Everything is very beautiful and concise. In PSD sources, you can change any to do.

Accordion wall calendar option

This calendar mockup is made in exactly the same style as the previous one (in fact, like all the others). There are also elements of the calendar itself, today's reference film and other elements.

A4 closed calendar PSD mockup

Nothing out of the ordinary here, just the cover page of the calendar, inside which you can make calendars with images based on the mockup design base.

Closed calendar mockup A3 or horizontal A4

Questions may arise here: What if I change the calendar and send it to print. How will elements such as film and plastic marker of "today's" number be printed? Answer: no way. This is a mockup, or rather, a mockup, which is designed to visually display the calendar. Printing houses such as Infinity Print have their own layouts and their own equipment on which they print calendars. To make a printable version, you will need to make layouts of all the individual components of the calendar, such as title page, backdrop, open calendar, all months separately. And already at the expense of the spring, film and landmark, then this needs to be discussed with the printing house.

There are a lot of types of calendars: pocket, wall, desktop quarterly and others. This mockup only provides the structural base and design with which you can make any calendar. Quarterly calendars are in great demand among large companies, as they are very convenient to use. But the creation and printing of quarterly calendars is not as easy as with other types of calendars, such as desktop. Desk calendar printed in one go, and then just glued together. Pocket calendars are also printed. But the quarterly wall calendars more than 20 elements.

I hope that the calendar was useful to you and helped you in creating your calendar. I will try (if I stumble) to post more mockups of calendars, and just mockups, since they always come in handy for me.

When placing an order for the manufacture of calendars in our printing house, many prefer to prepare the layout on their own. This often allows you to quickly and more accurately realize what you want to get and at the same time save some money. However, preparing a high-quality layout for printing requires certain knowledge and skills. Some recommendations are given in our articles on prepress. Here we would like to dwell once again on certain points that may be useful to you when preparing the layout of a quarterly or pocket calendar.

In what programs to prepare the layout?

Calendar layouts usually consist of images and text, logos. All work with images is best done in Photoshop, and put everything together in vector editors Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw. We currently accept layouts in CorelDraw up to version X6, and Adobe Illustrator CS6.

What sizes to set?

Before you start assembling the calendar, draw a rectangle to fit the finished calendar. Please refer to the size chart below for reference. The rectangle is our outer boundary.

Important! Do not place text or logos closer than 3 mm from the border of the rectangle. Any equipment has its own errors and elements that are too close can be slaughtered.

Important! Any elements that need to go all the way to the edge, such as a background image, need a . For example, if you are preparing a 70x100 mm pocket calendar layout, then the background image should be 74x104 mm in size.

Layout View Size
(mark all elements within these boundaries), mm
Size background image
(taking into account technological fields), mm
Cap quarterly calendar mini 295x200 299x204
midi 335х210 339х214
maxi 370x220 374х214
Bottom advertising field of the quarterly calendar mini 295x50 299x62
midi 335х50 339x62
maxi 370х50 374х62
Middle advertising field quarterly calendar mini 295x50 299х72
midi 335х50 339х72
maxi 370х50 374х72
Pocket calendar 70x100 74x104

The given height for the header of the quarter calendar is indicative and may vary within 5-7 cm depending on the image, the presence of advertising fields, etc.

When preparing the layout for medium advertising fields and caps, do not forget to allocate space for the spring (approximately 7-8 mm). Don't post anything important here. Also remember that the top of the ad boxes go under the calendar box, so add the background about 1cm up.

How to prepare an image?

For quality offset or digital printing you need an image with a resolution of 300 dpi at a size of 1:1. Try to work with it only in Photoshop. Do not drag images into CorelDraw, it will certainly make it worse.

Image size can be checked and changed from Image->Image Size menu. Here, the image can be reduced, enlarged by turning on the Resample Image checkbox. It's not worth it, the printed image will still turn out blurry!

Second important point. From a camera or scanner, you will receive images in the RGB model. But for printing, it must be in the CMYK model. You can check and change the color model in the Image->Mode menu. By choosing CMYK, you will be able to approximately on the screen evaluate how the colors will change and correct something, if necessary. Do not print RGB images as they may come out faded.

Do I need to set up a calendar grid?

Quarterly calendars are most often assembled from ready-made and printed blocks. Therefore, there is no need to dial the grid. The preparation and printing of individual meshes is discussed separately and is outside the scope of this article. Call!

For pocket calendars, you can type the grid yourself or ask us to add one of our already typed grids to your layout.

What fonts can be used in the layout?

Use any fonts installed on your computer, but don't forget to convert them to curves before handing over to us.

Try not to use fonts less than 5-6 points. On the screen, you see them greatly enlarged, but on print they will need to be viewed through a magnifying glass. Make a printout on the printer at a scale of 1: 1 to estimate their actual size.

What colors can be used in the layout?

Try to use only CMYK colors. If you plan to print with additional colors, then you can use Pantone Coated or Pantone Uncoated.

  • Don't use RGB colors!
  • Do not use color C100M100Y100K100!
  • Do not use colors with more than one component in small text: for example, cyan C100M0Y0K0 is suitable, but dark blue C100M70Y0K0 is not, text may double in print.
  • Please note that all Pantone colors will be automatically converted to CMYK (unless you pay for additional printing in this color) and color distortion is possible.

What else can cause printing problems?

Do not use lenses or shadows in CorelDraw or Illustrator. The layout will have to be redone! The same effects can be obtained in PhotoShop, with guaranteed quality print transfer.
