Equipment ASUS Memo Pad Smart. Memo Pad Writing and Drawing Tablet Overall System Performance

FROM electronic tablet Memo Pad eliminates the need for paper, notebooks and pencils. After all, on it you can write, draw and then erase at the touch of a button. The tablet for writing and drawing Memo Pad is already receiving reviews from many users who have managed to actually evaluate its capabilities. Below is an overview of the product.

The Memo Pad is a work and play device for both adults and children. This is an electronic board for notes and images, which is sensitive to pressure, which allows you to make inscriptions and sketches.

It has an impact-resistant plastic housing and a scratch-resistant LCD display. Recordings are made on the display using a special steel pencil - a stylus. You can come across another name for a gadget for taking notes - writing tablet.

Available in 2 models with different screen sizes: 8.5 and 12 inches. These are 21.6 and 30.5 cm, respectively.

Design features

Memo Pad is a 4.5mm thin body and lightweight (130g). The liquid crystal display is slightly recessed into the plastic case. On the top panel there is a button for erasing. At the bottom there is a special compartment for the stylus and a battery connector.

The display is matte, so it does not glare in the sun, does not cause discomfort in work and does not require special care. In case of contamination, it is enough to wipe it with a regular cloth for a computer or glasses.

A round eyelet is provided in the upper right corner and, if desired, the Memo Pad can be hung in the right place on a cord.

Delivery set

The Memo Pad drawing tablet comes with the following accessories:

  • stylus (pencil);
  • battery;
  • user manual.

How the LCD tablet Memo Pad works

The device is powered by 1 battery, the power of which is enough for 100,000 erasures or 2 years of operation. The battery can be replaced if necessary.

The principle of operation is simple:

  • The stylus is used to write or draw.
  • By pressing the button on the top panel, the pattern is erased.

The thickness of the lines and the brightness depends on the force of pressing the stylus and the angle of its inclination. The inscriptions are quite contrasting, slightly blue. All notes are equally readable at any angle. The stylus is made of steel and has plastic tips on both ends. Users compare the feeling of drawing with a stylus to writing with a soft pencil on thick paper. Moreover, you can take notes with any other object similar to a stylus, the main thing is without a very sharp tip, so as not to damage the screen. The drawing can be applied as many times as you like and at the same time it is removed without traces.

Who will suit

The Memo Pad drawing tablet is versatile. It can be used in various fields:

  • For children: drawing on such a board saves up to 50,000 sheets of paper a year, helps develop creative thinking, hand motor skills and is just a fun activity. The Memo Pad is great for tic-tac-toe games, letter word building, and more. Drawing on such electronic paper is as easy as drawing on regular paper.
  • For family records: recipes, tasks for the day, fix the shopping list, leave a message to loved ones. If people leave home at different times, then wishing a good day in this format will definitely guarantee a good mood.
  • For students: you can take notes, sketches, draw graphs, tables, reminders to yourself. A good option is to use the gadget as a draft for homework. Memo Pad allows you to combine learning with play, which is especially important in elementary school.
  • It will become a real helper for people with hearing and speech disorders.
  • What's interesting is that writing with a pen (stylus) conveys the natural style of writing, as accurately as if it were on paper. Therefore, many people use this device for calligraphy, if they want to learn how to write beautifully.
  • Memo Pad is a necessary thing for artists, as it allows you to make the first sketches of a future picture, to outline the basis of the composition.

Of course, this is not a complete list of the possibilities of an electronic notepad.

Advantages

Memo Pad has been chosen by many users due to a number of advantages of this device:

  • one click erases everything from the screen;
  • light and durable;
  • safe for children;
  • a wonderful gift for friends and relatives;
  • low cost.

Asus tablet computers cost a lot of money at first. Only a couple of years later the company decided to create a separate line containing budget models. One such tablet is the Asus MeMo Pad 7. Let's try to find out if it's worth the money or is it outright trash?

Positioningtablet Asus MeMo Pad 7

Asus does not hide the fact that the tablet computer belongs to the budget segment. At the presentation, they immediately mentioned that the case of this device is made of plastic, and the characteristics of the tablet can be called average. The gadget was first demonstrated at CES. And the public liked it. Many noted that for their money the tablet leaves a good impression.

In the US, a tablet computer costs about $150. Compared to the latest iPad this model many times cheaper. This means that it will be used primarily for reading magazines and books, as well as browsing websites. Traditionally, in Russia, the prices for the device are more expensive. You can buy Asus MeMo Pad 7 from us for about 6300 rubles. The markup was significant. Because of this, the device will compete with numerous "Chinese". And not every person will stop at a famous brand.

Appearancetablet Asus MeMo Pad 7

Even last year, budget seven-inch tablets from Asus looked like toys. They were reluctant to use, so repulsive was the plastic used. Problems were observed with the build quality. But over the years, technology has made a definite leap. Now it's getting harder and harder to make a tablet computer bad.

The body, as mentioned above, was made of plastic. But this time, not glossy, but matte plastic was used. At least for the back cover. As a result, the device does not slip in the hands, it is almost impossible to drop it. No on the back and no extra inscriptions or logos.

The front panel is no longer so joyful impressions. There is too much space on the sides of the screen. Today, the thickness of the frames is greatly reduced, but here this trend is not observed. However, this did not greatly affect the size of the device. A person with large hands can easily place the Asus MeMo Pad 7 in their palm.

All ends here have a silver finish. It seems to be made of metal. But in fact, this is not the case, otherwise the tablet would constantly lose the GPS signal. The device weighs only 295 grams. This is almost a record among all seven-inch tablets. After some metal models, Asus MeMo Pad 7 feels like fluff in the hands. The thickness of the device is not minimal - 9.9 mm. Compared to Samsung Galaxy Tab S and iPad Air, the tablet seems plump. But it is useless to compare it with devices, the price of which is three times higher.

Displaytablet Asus MeMo Pad 7

Gradually, even budget tablets are moving away from using low-resolution screens. Here, too, this indicator is not the lowest - 1280 x 800 pixels. And yet I would like more. This resolution results in a pixel density of 216 PPI, which already seems insufficient to many connoisseurs. But you need to remember that the Asus MeMo Pad 7 tablet computer was created primarily for novice users. Such people will obviously be satisfied.

The creators borrowed the screen from their last year's tablets with a similar price tag. It is a pity that the device was not developed in this regard. I am glad that the engineers remained committed to IPS technology. Thanks to it, the display has wide viewing angles and decent color reproduction.

Softwaretablet Asus MeMo Pad 7

As you might guess, the tablet computer operates under the Android operating system. However, a proprietary Asus ZenUI shell is installed on top of it. This cannot be called the advantage of the device.

The shell is very heavy, not every novice user will figure it out right off the bat. Yes, and we can say that budget devices are the least suitable for such shells. The fact is that the tablet does not have the best components, which in the future may cause all sorts of slowdowns when navigating. It would be better if Asus installed pure Android on their cheapest tablets. But the company does not want to liken itself to Chinese manufacturers.

Performancetablet Asus MeMo Pad 7

Asus continues to cooperate with Intel. Many budget tablets have recently been equipped with processors from the Intel Atom series. So the Asus MeMo Pad 7 has a quad-core solution called Atom Z3745. Also under the body are 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of permanent memory.

These characteristics of the device is enough. The system works very quickly and smoothly. Even on the tablet, almost all modern games are launched. But you need to remember that the tests were carried out for several hours. If you use a tablet computer for six months, then problems may begin. There is practically no doubt that after a while there will be slowdowns. Therefore, Asus MeMo Pad 7 buyers are advised not to load the device with a large number of applications.

Summarizingtablet Asus MeMo Pad 7

According to the manufacturer, the battery provides the tablet with 9 hours battery life. If the device is not heavily loaded, then it can last a couple of days. We must not forget about the possibility of installing a map microSD memory. It will allow the buyer to download to the tablet computer a large number of music and films.

If you are looking for the first tablet in your life, then you can take a look at the Asus MeMo Pad 7. It is inexpensive, its appearance does not bother at all, and the installed components will allow you to play movies in the highest resolution. The device is definitely worth the money. You will only have to put up with not the highest resolution of the display.

ASUS started the production of mobile gadgets not so long ago. But in a short period of time, she managed to achieve certain heights and earn permanent fans of her products. In particular, this applies to the tablet 7 ME170C, which is positioned as a budget option. Despite this, it implements many modern solutions for the most productive work.

The tablet has a beautiful and stylish appearance, a bright and colorful screen, average power. It is perfect for everyday use, combining low weight, modern solutions and all the functions that can be found in such gadgets.

MeMO Pad 7 will become for anyone one of the best assistants not only in passing time, but also in work, study and personal affairs. The compact size allows the tablet to fit in your pocket or bag.

Let's start the review of the gadget with one of the main points by which the user first of all evaluates the usefulness of the device - technical characteristics. So, in the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 tablet, they are as follows:

Technical specifications ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C

Battery 3950 mAh
Additionally accelerometer, gyroscope, microphone
Dimensions 192x110x10.7 mm

Price $130

As can be seen from the indicators, this tablet clearly belongs to the budget line, and even the cost speaks for it. But if we look in more detail, we can stumble upon very interesting features thanks to which ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C compares favorably with its competitors.

Equipment

So, you have decided to purchase this gadget. What awaits us inside a beautiful, durable and small box? Opening the lid, we see a tablet lying on top, which is packed in a protective shipping film. ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C is located on a kind of cardboard pedestal. Removing the gadget and stand, you can see other items in the form of a charging power supply and a USB cable. All these elements are carefully wrapped in a film. Underneath are the instructions for use and the warranty card. As you can see, there is nothing superfluous here. Everything is neat, even and of high quality.

Design

Taking the tablet out of its protective packaging, we see a typical device for this price category. But here there is a difference - the glossy surface of the back cover. It looks great with a simple design.

Taking the tablet in hand, you can feel another difference - a small weight. Turning the device to face us, we see a display that, thanks to a thin frame of standard sizes, occupies almost the entire panel. Below, if you hold the tablet vertically, there is an ASUS branded inscription, and the front camera is located on the top and right. In the center of the upper section, the manufacturer installed one speaker - the gadget works only in mono mode.

Behind the tablet, everything is done without unnecessary elements. Only at 2 megapixels and under it is the inscription in large letters ASUS. Nothing sticks out to the touch, and everything is on the same level.

As for the sides, the lower one, if the tablet is placed vertically, does not have any slots and exits. The top edge includes a USB output and a headphone jack. The solution is quite convenient - if you turn the tablet to a horizontal position, the wire does not interfere with viewing. On the right, the manufacturer installed a volume rocker and a lock button (on and off). The left edge has only a slot for a flash drive.

The tablet is made of high quality, durable materials and with good, reliable connections. Here nothing creaks, does not move and does not give backlash.

Another feature that we will definitely include in our review is color solutions. Often, manufacturers make their devices in two colors - white and black. ASUS decided to slightly expand these restrictions. For this reason, on the shelves you can find the following colors of the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C tablet:

  • blue;
  • red;
  • black;
  • white;
  • Gray.

Thanks to this wide choice colors are perfect for any style of clothing and can even act as an accessory.

Display

As already mentioned, the screen we are considering takes up more space than usual. Perhaps for this reason, the device itself as a whole sits very comfortably in the hand. But back to the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C display.

This gadget has a standard 7-inch screen for the line. The resolution of the matrix is 1024×600 pixels. Thanks to a special technology called Asus Splendid, the user can easily and quickly adjust the parameters in accordance with the required tasks.

Naturally, such a screen has a minus in the form of small viewing angles. But it is fully justified and fully consistent with the price.

Thanks to the applied oleophobic coating, you can not worry about the appearance of fingerprints on the glass.

The sensor has a good response and can support up to five points at the same time. For convenient standard use, this is quite enough.

Performance

The gadget ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C is implemented as a "brain" Intel processor Atom with index Z2520. It has two cores clocked at 1.2GHz. It seems to be a standard, but this solution allows you to speed up data processing as much as possible. The GPU called Power VR SGX544 paired with the “brain” easily handles the most demanding applications with 3D graphics.

Having tested the tablet using all popular benchmarks, we can already draw some conclusions. In terms of performance and graphics processing speed, all of them gave marks above average, which is very pleasing. Naturally, now there are many "Chinese" who, according to their characteristics, are very similar to the gadget in question. But the performance and quality of components takes precedence over cheapness.

Multimedia

An overview of multimedia capabilities can be started with standard "wired" programs. Among them are video and audio players. The first one has rather weak performance, so here you need to immediately reinstall. As for the audio, everything here is standard, but very high quality. If there is a wireless headset that works via Bluetooth, a special audio encoder has been created specifically for it. It compresses audio to aptX format with minimal loss in quality. But at the same time, the packet size does not exceed the minimum bandwidth of the transmission method.

You can also connect to a TV via wireless connection. Naturally, you need to have a compatible device, but in view of modern technology, this is not a snag. This solution allows you to easily view videos of any length in the highest quality. For a budget tablet, this is very good.

Offline work time

The tablet has at its disposal a capacity of 3950 mAh. It allows you to work offline up to 10 hours without recharging. It is worth saying that this is the time of active use. If it is moderate, then the "life" of the tablet will last up to one and a half days.

This is possible thanks to a capacious battery and a fairly economical small display. If the tablet is operated in intensive download mode, the battery will last for 7 hours.

cameras

ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C has two cameras at its disposal: a 0.3 MP front camera and a 2 MP main one. With the help of the first, you can easily make video calls. Naturally, it is not enough to take real high-quality pictures. As for the second camera, everything is much better here. It is designed for taking pictures and recording medium quality videos. If the lighting of the room is good, then the photos are excellent.

As for color reproduction, everything is very good here. The colors are as natural and saturated as possible. All this is achieved thanks to special algorithms and optical components.

OS and software

The tablet is equipped with operating system version 4.2. According to user reviews, it is immediately updated to 4.4, which is good news. In some cases, this procedure is not performed for unknown reasons, but in 90% of cases there are no problems with the update.

The tablet has a software shell, which is proprietary. More than 200 add-ons and applications are "sewn" into it, which greatly facilitate the work with the tablet. These are utilities for working with images, and applications for setting up operating time, power consumption, etc.

Do not ignore the built-in functions Time Rewind, All Smile and Smart Remove. They are designed to work with photographs. The first application can take 3 frames in 3 seconds (2 before pressing the photo button and 1 after). The second - takes 5 shots, which will greatly simplify the choice of the best photo. A third application can remove unwanted moving objects without losing image quality.

The tablet is equipped with standard software for navigation and wireless communication.

Competitors

Among the main competitors of the tablet, you can meet both eminent manufacturers and not so much. Among them are Lenovo with its A3300 and A3500, Google with its Nexus tablet. But it is worth noting that if they are similar in technical characteristics, they differ greatly in cost. Among them, the hero of our review is the most accessible. And the cameras are much better.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C tablet are:

  • the presence of an oleophobic coating;
  • excellent battery life;
  • good specifications and exclusive shell;
  • low cost device.

The disadvantages can be called:

  • small viewing angle of the display;
  • rather narrow bezels around the screen.

Small but good copy

Picking up this tablet for the first time, you can immediately fall in love with it. And this is understandable, because high-quality assembly, low weight and excellent performance indicators fit perfectly with the price. All the petty flaws that can be found in the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME170C tablet are more than covered big time offline work. It is ideal for gaming, work and just passing the time.

I don’t know if you noticed or not, but there is a lull in the middle segment among large manufacturers now, no one is releasing interesting models, only regular repetitions of the existing one (an excellent example of this situation is samsung galaxy Tab 3 10.1), and against the backdrop of this stagnation, new tablets from Asus are like a breath of fresh air. MeMO Pad FHD 10 for its price is interesting primarily for the screen resolution, but let's talk about everything in order.

Equipment

  • Tablet
  • Charger
  • PC cable
  • Documentation

The tablet comes in a trapezoid-shaped package - an unusual solution, I've only seen it in Apple's new iMacs before. Otherwise, you can’t say much about the package, large brands do not indulge buyers additional accessories included.

Appearance, materials, controls, assembly

Before us is a typical tablet from Asus, which has a strict, calm design without any frills. Most of the front side is occupied by a screen with a diagonal of 10.1 inches. Above it you can see the peephole of the front camera and the light sensor.

At the top end there is a power button and a microphone hole. The location of the button is good: if you hold the tablet horizontally, it lies directly under the index finger of your left hand.

On the right are the 3.5 mm jack and the volume rocker. As in the case of the power button, it is located directly under the index finger, however, this time we are talking about the left hand.

On the left you can see a slot for a microSDHC memory card, a microHDMI connector and a microUSB connector.

The back of the device is made of matte rubberized plastic with small ornaments. The use of such material has a great effect on tactile sensations - the tablet is very pleasant even just to hold it in your hands. On the back there was a place for stereo speakers and the main camera. The speakers have excellent volume and sound (for this kind of device), I was pleasantly surprised. Only their location is upsetting, because when you hold the tablet, you will simply close them with your hands.

There is only one complaint about the assembly - the back cover flexes a little when the central part is pressed hard. The feeling that this is not so much an assembly problem as a design feature (apparently, there is a little empty space under the cover, due to which this happens).

Three color modifications will be on sale: black, white and pink.

Dimensions

MeMO Pad FHD 10 is a typical ten-inch tablet in size. However, its dimensions are slightly larger than the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.

  • Asus MeMO Pad FHD 10- 264.6x182.4x9.5 mm, weight 580 grams
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1- 243x176x8 mm, weight 512 grams
  • Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD- 258x176x9 mm, weight 580 grams

The tablet is easy to use with two hands, but holding it on the weight for a long time is inconvenient due to the weight (this is a problem with all ten-inch tablets).

Screen

The display diagonal is 10.1 inches, the resolution is 1920x1200 pixels, the matrix type is IPS, the protective coating is glass, there is automatic brightness control, there is an oleophobic coating.

The screen left only positive impressions: a high level of brightness, maximum viewing angles, a clear image and text, as well as natural colors. Together with the oleophobic coating, we get an excellent display for everyday activities (mail, twitter, web surfing, reading books and watching videos).

In the sun, the screen is almost completely blind.

The device has a special program Asus Splendid, which is responsible for setting the color gamut.

Operating system

The tablet works under Android control 4.2.1 with a few additions from the manufacturer. with detailed Android review 4.2.x you can check out the link below.

Asus left the Android interface almost unchanged, but at the same time added a number of very interesting improvements that have almost no effect on the interface and can be turned off.

I went into detail about all of Asus' add-ons in the Padfone 2 review, and if you want to brush up on them, you can re-read that article.

It remains for me to repeat once again that all Asus add-ons are perfectly integrated into “pure” Android and at the same time almost do not change the system interface itself.

Performance

The tablet is based on the Intel Atom Z2560 platform with a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and a PowerVR SGX 544MP video accelerator. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, the capacity of the internal drive is 32 GB (about 25 GB is available to the user), microSDHC memory cards up to 64 GB are supported.

I have already dealt with Intel Atom in Android tablets, and then it left only positive impressions (speed, heating, battery life), so it was interesting to see how this platform will manifest itself in the MeMO Pad FHD 10.

As for everyday tasks, the power of the tablet is enough for the eyes to easily read articles on the Internet, mail, twitter and flip through desktops without slowing down.

The device works great with the latest powerful games. The only problem is that Asphalt 8 is not available for it in the Play Store.

But the heating in comparison with the same FonePad has increased. In heavy games, the upper left corner of the tablet noticeably heats up. However, even in games, we usually rarely touch this area.

Offline work

The battery capacity is not listed on the official website, so I'll just tell you how the tablet performed in battery life tests.

In reading mode (brightness 30%, "airplane mode" is on), the tablet was discharged in 12 hours.

In video mode, the charge of the device was enough for 6 hours and 20 minutes (maximum brightness, "airplane mode" is on).

If we talk about everyday use (brightness 40-50%, the total screen activity is about an hour a day), then the tablet can perfectly last 5-6 days without recharging.

Separately, I would like to note the excellent operation of the device in standby mode: its charge practically does not “leak”. The tablet, among other things, has a separate customizable power saving mode.

These are good figures, considering that the screen resolution has increased to FullHD.

Wireless interfaces

WiFi (b/g/n)- the module supports operation at frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In addition to simply connecting to a network, Wi-Fi Direct and MiraCast functions are available.

Bluetooth 3.0- All popular profiles are supported, including A2DP.

GPS and GLONASS- a cold start takes about two minutes, the tablet is looking for satellites for a very long time.

Camera

The tablet has two cameras: a 1.2 MP front camera and a 5 MP main camera.

You can evaluate the pictures of the main camera from the photos below. In my opinion, the tablet produces good macro shots, otherwise the camera does not stand out in any way.

Video recording is carried out in a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

The front camera is great for Skype video calls, the image quality is on par with other tablets.

Conclusion

Retail prices for the MeMO Pad FHD 10 are as follows:

  • WiFi 32 GB- 14 000 rubles
  • WiFi+LTE 32 GB- 19 000 rubles

For the money, you get a tablet with a great screen, good battery life, and one of the last android versions on board. I did not notice any obvious shortcomings in the device (except for a slight deflection of the lid in the center). All in all, this is a great deal for the money.

Competitors

Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD. Formidable competitor from Huawei. Of the advantages, it is worth noting the aluminum case and lower cost. For example, the version with 32 GB and LTE will cost 17,700 rubles, and the Wi-Fi-only version will cost 13,500 rubles. Pros of MeMO Pad FHD 10: oleophobic screen coating (its presence greatly affects usability), Android 4.2 (for MediaPad 4.0) and a standard microUSB connector (MediaPad has its own connector).
