Yandex mail delayed sending a letter. How to send a letter to yourself in the future or right now in Yandex.mail and why is it needed? Use cases for SndLatr to send an email at a specified time

Through this service, you can write a letter with a delay of 1 day to 100 years - not only to yourself, but also to a friend or even a stranger. You are free to attach a file up to 500 Kb in size or a snapshot from a webcam to the news. By paying $7, it is possible to send a letter in paper form.

To use the site, you have to register on it. Also on Future-mail there is a section with letters that their senders chose not to hide from the public eye.

One of the simplest services of its kind. Write a message, enter the name and email address of the recipient, as well as the date of delivery, and then wait.

A letter can be sent a maximum of 100 years in advance, but you should choose a shorter period: the site is based on pure enthusiasm, so it can cease to exist at any moment. However, the authors say that the cost of maintaining the service is minimal, so it is unlikely that it will close soon.

The project from Petersburgers was born quite recently and has a much more pleasant design than many other services. The site is distinguished by the fact that letters on it can only be sent a year in advance. Despite this limitation, more than 270,000 people used the service in a few days.

I invite you to watch another useful video tutorial on the topic Email. We'll figure it out new feature Yandex mail system, which is called "deferred sending of a letter."

In ordinary life, we somehow do not think about the fact that some letters are best sent at a certain time. Imagine a situation where you send a document to your management and would not like this document to get lost in a bunch of other emails.

Usually, when the recipient comes to work and opens his mailbox, he sees a whole series of letters that "attacked" during the night and early morning. If your email is on this list, it may simply be accidentally deleted along with advertising, especially if you have a habit of sending email without a subject.

It's a completely different matter if your email will come, for example, at 11 o'clock in the morning. The addressee has already dealt with urgent matters, freed up a little and therefore, most likely, will treat your letter more carefully and favorably.

Let's find out how you can write a letter "right now" and send it "when you need it."

I had enough standard features in Gmail, with the exception of one. I didn't know how to send a letter to e-mail at the specified time.

In a standard mailer, we press the "Send" button and the letter goes to the addressee. We save the letter as a draft and it waits for the appointed time. But how to write a letter and delay sending?

For me, this feature is important because you can unload the list of tasks in MyLifeOrganized. It seemed to me faster to bring information to the recipient with the help of a letter at the specified time than fixing this task in the MLO with the subsequent execution of the action.

Google help me. There were many proposed options, but shareware:

  • no more than 10 emails per month
  • limited functionality

For full-fledged versions, it was necessary to pay monthly in conventional units. The function of delayed sending of letters is necessary, but not enough to pay money for it. I continued searching and found a free option and easy to use.

My find was the SndLatr extension, which is currently called a beta version and is completely free.

You can watch technical points on how to install and use SndLatr in this short video:

I will focus on the issues of using the tool in conjunction with MyLifeOrganized.

Use cases for SndLatr to send an email at a specified time

1. For assignments that I previously recorded in MyLifeOrganized and tracked using flags.

Making a deferred email takes the same amount of time as writing down a task in the MLO. It is much easier to write a letter right away and put a delay than to create a reminder of an upcoming letter. In the second case, we also need to respond to the reminder.

Now we write down in the MLO what we expect from a person after receiving a letter. Everything has been simplified.

Usage example:

An application for money for household expenses is submitted to the accounting department every Monday. It makes no sense to send a letter on another day, as the letter will be lost.

Previously, I wrote down tasks in the MLO:

  • Send an application on Monday
  • Expecting money on Tuesday

Now I'm writing a letter right away and setting the dispatch for Monday. In MLO I put myself a reminder of waiting.

2. For reminders to yourself.

When you do not make a decision right now and want the letter to come later.

Example:

A letter came in the afternoon with the announcement of an interesting event. I want to discuss it in the evening at home with my wife. I put off receiving it for several hours and remove it from my inbox. In the evening I will receive a second reminder that this letter has arrived. Everything is done with 1-2 clicks.

Earlier:

  • Opened the MLO
  • wrote down the task
  • Set a reminder - choose the time.

3. Use as a reminder to others about appointments.

In MLO, you can set up a reminder by sending mail to other people.

Everything is great, but there are cons:

  • Difficulties with setting up regular mail (I managed to tie only mail from my site to the profile)
  • To send, the program on Windows must be enabled (with development mobile applications MLO for android and iPhone I use the application on Windows mainly for data processing)

With delayed send, the email will be sent regardless of whether you are online or not.

I consider using the SndLatr extension an excellent addition to my personal efficiency system

Pros:

  • Quickly
  • For free
  • Reduces the effort and time spent on scheduling such reminders

Minuses:

  • It takes time to check the reliability and reliability. Although this is not a minus, but an additional control.

If you use a tool for delayed sending emails, which in your opinion is better than SndLatr, write about it in the comments. We will see. Let's take it apart. Let's choose the best.

Thanks for reading this article - I spent a lot of time creating it for you. I would be grateful if you give your feedback. Without information from you, this blog cannot be complete. So let's stay in touch!

Send a letter to yourself in the future or immediately means that you send a letter to yourself from your e-mail address to the same e-mail address. For example, with email address Nadezda @yandex.ru send a letter to the same address Nadezda @yandex.ru. And you will receive this letter either immediately, or it will come in the future, more precisely, it will come in the planned year, month, day and hour.

In the same way, you can send an e-mail to your relative, friend, acquaintance, colleague to their e-mail. This is convenient, for example, for the New Year holidays, when it is nice to receive congratulations, but you no longer want to send them yourself. Let the mail robot work.

You can send yourself a letter from almost any mail: Yandex.Mail, (mail.ru), Google mail (gmail.com), Rambler.Mail, etc. But a "simple" question arises:

Why write letters to yourself?

There can be many options, I will give 5 (five) most common reasons why it is sometimes worth doing this:

  1. Reminder letter

Remind yourself of an event or something that needs to be done by opening your mail and seeing a reminder letter there. For some, this is the kind of reminder.

  1. Checking the health of your mail

As you know, letters should:

  • send by e-mail and
  • received by e-mail.

If at least one of these basic functions of mail is broken, then we can assume that you do not have mail. A letter sent to yourself will help you check the work of your mail (any of your mailboxes): whether letters are sent from there and whether they reach.

From this site, users sometimes prefer , rather than comments. And this is understandable, but it can be a shame when you write a long answer in a response letter, sometimes inserting explanatory links, and as a result you receive a message: the letter cannot be delivered due to the fact that the recipient's mail does not accept letters. In this case, when the mail for some reason does not accept letters, the user would have a chance to see my answer in the comments on the site, but he is waiting for a letter from me in his mail.

  1. Checking what the recipient of your letter will see in the letter

You can check in what form the other person will receive the letter. The verification will be as accurate as possible provided that another person (the recipient of the letter) uses the same type of mail (for example, the sender and recipient of the letter both use Yandex.mail).

  1. Sending files to yourself

To send a file to yourself:

  • you need to write yourself a letter, for example, from the email address Nadezda @yandex.ru,
  • in this letter,
  • send a letter to the same address Nadezda @yandex.ru.

This is convenient if you sent the letter while at home, but opened it at your work and read or saved the attached file. Or they sent a letter to themselves from a laptop, and then opened it on a tablet, and then the attached file can be viewed and saved on the tablet. At the same time, you don’t need flash drives, you don’t need Clouds, however, you need the Internet. The method of transferring files may be a little outdated, but for someone more familiar.

  1. Letter to yourself in the future

Why is such a letter necessary?

As I mentioned, for near future a letter to yourself will be useful as a reminder of a certain event, for example, congratulating yourself on your birthday or a reminder that you need to congratulate someone else or do another useful thing.

For distant future a letter to yourself will probably be more interesting in order to check or compare plans, dreams, forecasts, events, etc. Then, upon reaching a certain age or event, having received your own letter, there will be something to remember, compare with past events, rejoice, think, perhaps draw some conclusions for yourself.

You can send a letter to the future not only to yourself, but also to another addressee, which is entered in the "To" field. For example, it can be a birthday greeting so that the recipient receives it in a timely manner, regardless of anything.

Rice. 3. The letter to yourself before the scheduled date of sending will be in the Outbox folder.

As seen in fig. 3, a letter to the future self will be stored in your mailbox, namely in the Outbox folder.

The advantage of this is that at any time you can go to the Outbox folder to edit or delete the letter in the future.

Some disadvantage is that you need to monitor the status of your mail: due to spam, overflow or other reasons, the mail may and then the letter will never reach you in the future.

Where did the folders in Yandex.mail go?

The question is not entirely on the topic of the article, but for inexperienced Yandex users it is relevant. There is a "secret" button in Yandex.Mail, thanks to which folders in Yandex "disappear".

Rice. 5 Secret button to hide folders in Yandex.mail

The situation “folders disappeared in Yandex.Mail” occurs if button 1 in fig. 5. Compare it with button 4 in fig. 4. One click on this secret button collapses (hides) folders in Yandex.Mail, another click returns the folders to their place.
