Quadcopter with camera xk 380. XK Detect X380 quadcopter with a large selection of configurations. Is it worth buying an XK Detect X380 quadcopter?

Advantages of the XK Detect X380 quadcopter

The XK Detect X380 is a quadcopter with an amazing ability to capture amazing photos of your adventures. It allows you to take great shots from a bird's eye view.

The Chinese manufacturer has endowed it with such useful functions as a GPS module with an error of 0.5 meters. There is also a barometer that measures the flight altitude and transmits it to the remote control with an error of 50 centimeters.

There is a return to home function that will allow the copter to automatically return to its take-off point.

Separately, it is worth noting the video camera, which allows you to shoot video in HD 1080p quality and a resolution of 5 Megapixels. It also has an excellent stabilization system, which allows for stable flight. Thanks to this, the video sequence is just as stable.

It is also possible to install another camera, for example, Xiomi Yi Action Camera or GoPro Hero 4. It can be installed using a two-axis gimbal that comes with the aircraft.

The remote control is equipped with a screen. It itself runs on 6 AA batteries. The XK Detect X380-C has a range of approximately 1 kilometer in open areas. This is why it is great for nature photography.

This device can fly for 30 minutes.

This is accomplished by a Li-Pol battery with a capacity of 5,400 milliamp-hours. And for a full charge it takes approximately 1.5-2 hours.

Flight XK Detect X380

There is the possibility of automatic climb and descent. To do this, you just need to press one button for a couple of seconds. The same thing happens with the XK-Detect X380 quadcopter when you either lose it from view or the battery runs out - it simply returns to the take-off site. There is also protection against accidental self-discharge.

Judging by the messages from users of the X380 quadcopter on the forum, the average flight speed of the device is quite good for a budget model. In addition, low speed parameters will allow a beginner not to “kill” his device on the first day.

The most important advantage of this device is the built-in GPS module, which has an accuracy of up to half a meter. It is capable of determining the position of the copter in space in three directions. In addition, the quadcopter can hover perfectly at one point and maintain a stable altitude.

The Chinese manufacturer also equipped its device with another useful function – HeadLock. This allows the XK Detect to be pointed towards the operator.

The body of the device is quite strong. It is made of carbon fiber substitute and ABS plastic. Its dimensions are 305x305 millimeters with a height of 210 millimeters, that is, the diagonal is 376 millimeters.

The flight weight depends on the modification of the model: for the X380-a it is 945 grams, for the X380-b – 1005 grams, and for the X380-c – 1180 grams. The modifications also differ in flight time: for the X380 it is 30 minutes, for the X380-a – 27 minutes, for the X380-b – 28 minutes, and for the X380-c – 22 minutes.

The kit also includes spare propellers, which are especially useful for beginners in flying, because they break down quite quickly. Manufacturers also included a CardReader, a charging cable, and a charger in the package.

Is it worth buying an XK Detect X380 quadcopter?

But in general, for a fairly budget price we can get an FPV module with the ability to control a video camera from a radio remote control. However, the FPV function using a controller only works on the native camera. If you decide to change the video camera, you will have to connect to them using a smartphone or tablet using the proprietary application from the manufacturer.

Some cameras can significantly reduce the range of a quadcopter. For example, based on forum posts, the promised kilometer turns into 50 meters due to poor communication on GoPro cameras.

However, this model is perfect for your first quadcopter with FPV capabilities. It is quite inexpensive, but at the same time very functional. Moreover, if you consider that the body is made of carbon, you will not break this device very soon. But you should still stock up on propellers. Fortunately, the manufacturers decided to include spare ones in the kit.

The price for this device in online stores is on average 30,000 rubles. In regular stores, sellers usually ask for at least 40,000 rubles.

This is a relatively low price compared to such powerful machines as the DJI Phantom 3, which have a similar flight range, but their prices range from 50,000 to 100,000 rubles.

Therefore, it is worth buying this device, especially if you have never flown a quadcopter before. It won’t be a shame to “kill” him, and controlling him will bring a lot of pleasure.

Good day to all:)
I started my RC hobby with a small quadcopter for $10, after it hung on a tree, I switched to a larger Syma x5 quadcopter and immediately lost it (it was blown away by the wind in an unknown direction), after which the decision was made to buy something better, and the choice fell on the JJRC x1, which has BC motors and fairly good dynamics, and a flight range of 400 meters, but it didn’t work out there either, as it turned out, it’s not suitable for aerial photography (but it goes great against the wind, and as a training solution it’s 100% justified %, pah-pah still alive). As a result, the decision was made to buy something really worthwhile and interesting; the choice fell on the XK Detect X380 quadcopter, which we will talk about today.

And so, the long-awaited XK Detect x380 quadcopter arrived, and at that very moment I decided to unpack it. Fortunately, the parcel arrived quite quickly, 18 days from the date of payment for the order and during transportation they did not play football with it, it arrived intact.

The box in which the quadcopter and its components were packed turned out to be durable, and even with foam inside, which adds to its reliability on the journey to us. The box can also be used to transport the quadcopter. It is very convenient because it is durable and has a handle.

Although the store packed the box itself only in a sheet of paper

Everything in the box was laid out evenly, when we freed the box we found:
1) The quadcopter itself(handsome)
back view:

Front view:

2) Control equipment(I was pleased with the quality of workmanship, it is pleasant to hold in your hands, unlike the equipment on the JJRC x1, for example, where the plastic feels cheap). Both sticks in the equipment are spring-loaded and have metal tips. The top handle-mount is also made of metal. Both toggle switches (Head Lock and Go Home) are metal. Using metal in such places gives a joy of use. The equipment is powered by 6 AA batteries or rechargeable batteries.
Front view of the equipment:

Rear view of equipment:

The weight of the equipment was 431 grams, the average weight in the world of equipment.

3) battery 5400 mah 3s 11.1v 20c XT60, it’s like the highlight of this quadcopter, according to the instructions, the quadcopter should fly for as much as 30 minutes from this battery!!! Of course, we checked it, yes, there are 25-30 minutes. Battery weight is 323 grams (wow I thought, my JJRC x1 quadcopter weighs about the same with the battery)
Also, the large size of the battery gives us a large battery compartment at the quadcopter itself - and this is a clear plus, now you don’t need to think about which battery to buy as a spare, any one will fit in;)

4) propellers, made of high-quality plastic and balanced from the factory. The quadcopter on them does not shake during flight. They have size 9047. The kit included only 4 propellers (two red and two white), unfortunately there are no spare ones.

5)Charger, consists of a power supply and a balancer, the brand name XK and the model name BC-3S18 are written on it, it can charge 2s and 3s batteries, either alternately or simultaneously.
It charges with a current of 1550 mA and has a balancer value per bank of 10 mV, which is the norm and the key to a long battery life. The balancer receives a 12-16V current from the power supply (which, by the way, provides 2A current 100-240V and has the model name BSA-DY-011)

6) Hard plastic gimbal with mount for GoPro and their analogues, I was pleased with its presence in the kit, although I had already ordered a two-axis gimbal separately. It is attached to fastening elements that are also included in the kit, assembling the suspension is as easy as shelling pears, and the suspension also has vibration protection in the form of vibration dampers. (rubber spacers). The suspension can be adjusted “higher and lower” manually; it is not controlled in any way from the remote control.

7) set of accessories, it includes:
a) USB cable for connecting to a PC
b) Wrench for tightening the caps on the propellers
c) power adapter 2s JST through which you can power anything from the quadcopter itself (for example, an FPV video transmitter or gimbal)
d) a small hexagon (with which you can disassemble the quadcopter, it is suitable for almost all the bolts on which the copter itself is assembled).

8) Instructions (manual) in English and Chinese, but thanks to the pictures everything is clear and understandable.

In total, the package contains everything you need (except for AA batteries for the remote control) for a successful takeoff and joyful flights.

Well, now let's talk about the hero of the celebration himself.
The flight weight of the XK Detect x380 quadcopter including the original battery is 944 grams

Without a battery, the quadcopter weighs 621 grams, and if you add, for example, another 1800 mah battery instead of the original battery, you will get a significantly lower total weight and greater payload capacity (of course, losing in flight duration).

Immediately, 6 AA batteries were found from the remote control and watch and the decision was made to go fly.

Having arrived at the take-off site, I calibrated it (the same way I calibrated and flew as shown in the video below) and began the flight (by the way, you need to calibrate it every time you fly after disconnecting the power, or when you change the take-off location by more than 500 meters)
I was very pleased with the flight stability of the racing quadcopter; it flies slowly (6 m/s), and this is a definite plus for aerial photography. We also tested auto takeoff and auto landing, which are performed by pressing the button in the lower left corner of the Take OFF equipment for 2 seconds.

During auto take-off, the quadcopter slowly takes off to a height of 1-2 meters above the ground and hangs waiting for further action.
When auto landing on the quadcopter, the indicator starts blinking red and the quadcopter begins to slowly descend from any height to the ground. After landing, the engines will be automatically locked.

After which I flew a little more and the quadcopter was discharged; when the battery is discharged, an automatic, slow auto landing takes place. I immediately went to charge the battery, the battery was charged in exactly 4 hours (when charging, one lamp on the charger lights up, the second blinks... and when the battery is charged, both start to light up). As soon as the battery was charged, I went on testing.

So, Headless mode (Head Lock): having turned it on and flying in headless mode, I realized that it’s not worth doing this anymore, the whole point is that the quadcopter does not behave stable in this mode (literally after 15-20 seconds of such a flight, the quadcopter spun in a spiral and fell, I think I’m not the first Who has this in this mode, fortunately the height of the fall was about 3 meters and nothing was damaged). Headless mode is activated by pressing the top left toggle switch down.

Go Home, which is also the upper right toggle switch, this function works perfectly, when you lower the toggle switch and activate the return home, the quadcopter gains a height of 20 meters and flies to the take-off point, which is initially recorded by GPS, after approaching the take-off point, the quadcopter will turn on an automatic slow landing, in mine If the quadcopter lands clearly on the take-off point, you can take over control in this mode at any time and cancel the return. BE BEWARE OF BUILDINGS AND COMMUNICATION WIRES WHEN ACTIVATING THIS FUNCTION, THE QUADROCOPTER HAS NO EYES, AND WHEN RETURNING HOME IT CAN CRASH INTO ANYTHING, AND YOU WILL BE LUCKY IF IT FALLS NOT ON A LEXUS.

Flight control occurs without delay, the quadcopter does not go anywhere, and it keeps the point exactly and accurately without distortion.

When you press a key Stick Mode mode1 mode2 changes, i.e. The control sticks change places when pressed, from the factory the right melting stick and the left gas stick.
Trim buttons are also present.

The quadcopter can easily lift a GoPro-style gimbal and camera into the air. There is a thread at the bottom of the frame for screwing the hanger

There is also an interesting panoramic shooting function when you click on FAP button(the quadcopter begins to very slowly turn around its axis and, if there is a camera on board, records a beautiful panorama on it, and if you give it a direction, you will get a beautiful flyby of an object at a distance of 5 meters from it), but this is not only a button; ) You can also turn the FAP button, and if the gimbal is connected to the quadcopter, it moves higher/lower by turning the camera.

As for the internals. It has on board a flight controller from APM, regulators in the form of ESC 30A boards, high-quality 2212 950kv engines, a GPS module (analogous to NEO 8m), two large antennas in the legs (give a flight range of 1 km), a compass (also in the leg). There is also a slot that allows you to connect any control equipment.

But the body of this quadcopter is not strong enough, a few days after joyful and stable flights I relaxed and flew with less vigilance, such good stability made itself felt and pushed me to “try something new and fly faster and higher”, in the end I didn’t notice how the quadcopter flew up to the communications wire and caught its foot... as a result, it fell + the frame was completely cracked + the regulator was bent.
I had to order a new frame + regulator with LED = $30 bottom of frame + $25 top of frame + $12 voltage regulator with LEDs. I could glue the frame, but it wouldn’t be the same, plus the stability and smoothness of flight would be lost.

And now about the most delicious:

As a result, we have a budget quadcopter for aerial photography, capable of flying for 25-30 minutes, or about 15-20 minutes with a gimbal, camera and FPV transmitter. In addition, for a minimal amount (yes, $210 is budget-friendly without exaggeration), we also get GPS positioning, smart 2212,950 kv motors, reliable voltage regulators, reliable brains and a board.

Pros:
- RTF (ready to fly) out of the box
- stable flight
- holds point well
- quickly finds GPS satellites
- price
- complete set (camera mount is not available everywhere)
- design
- flight range 1 km
- HUGE three-cell battery 11.1v 20 with a capacity of 5400 mah and flight duration
- large battery compartment
- the box from the quadcopter can be used for transportation
- bright diodes and indicator
- high-quality soldering inside
- good carrying capacity
- ability to connect any equipment

Minuses:
- If you fall, if the body is broken, you can’t do it, as for example on a self-assembled DJI F450 copter, by replacing one beam, but we will be forced to change the entire body, which costs a pretty penny.
- Head Lock mode (Headless Mode), also known as headless mode, when activated it crashes; (Although perhaps I got a defect and was unlucky, write in the comments how you do in this mode.

However, if you don’t think about falls, crashes and other evil spirits, the quadcopter turned out great! And it's definitely worth every penny spent on it.

Thank you everyone, have a nice day :)

XK, a subsidiary of WLToys, has released the Detect X380, a redesigned and improved version of the popular V303 quadcopter. Externally, the drone is very similar to its predecessor, only the color of the body coating has changed to create the effect of a carbon frame.

What has undergone major changes is the hardware of the drone. Detect X380 received a new battery with a capacity of 5400 mAh (which is twice as much as that of the WLToys V303), the communication range also doubled to 1000 meters. Luckily, this hasn't affected the price of the Detect X380 much, which is only $50 higher than the old V303.

XK Detect X380 comes in four different versions:

  • X380 – standard model without camera (flight duration 30 minutes)
  • X380-A – includes fixed gimbal and 1080MP camera (flight duration 27 minutes)
  • X380-B – includes fixed triple damper gimbal and 1080MP camera (27 minutes flight time)
  • X380-C – includes dual-axis gimbal and 1080P HD camera (flight duration 22 minutes)

This review is based on the X380-C version with FPV transmitter and monitor (these are not included and must be purchased separately).

Characteristics

  • Dimensions: 305 x 305 x 210 mm
  • Diagonal distance between motors: 380 mm
  • Motors: brushless 2212 950kV
  • Weight: 1190 g (with battery and camera)
  • Flight duration: X380 (30 minutes) / X380-A (27 minutes) / X380-B (27 minutes) / X380-C (22 minutes)
  • Battery: 11.1V 5400mAh 20C 3S Li Po
  • Charging time: 90 – 120 minutes
  • Communication range: about 1000 meters
  • Remote control power: 6 batteries 1.5V AA (not included)

Less doesn't mean worse

The XK-380 has far fewer features than its closest competitor, the DJI Phantom, but sometimes less doesn't mean less. Unlike Phantoms, which can fly to points on a map, the XK Detect X380-C only has basic GPS support.

It can automatically take off and land, independently return to the take-off point if necessary, and also has the function of hovering over one point, popular among photographers.

Yes, there are not many GPS positioning capabilities, but if you are engaged in aerial photography, this minimum is quite enough for normal work. Features such as checkpoint flight are more useful in agriculture and search and rescue than photography.

Flight characteristics

The first thing you'll notice when you take the XK Detect X380-C into the air is that this quadcopter is designed exclusively for aerial photography. The X380-C is not suitable for racing, pleasure flying or performing aerobatic stunts. This drone is designed to take great photos and videos from the air.

The quadcopter behaves very stable in the air. The X380-C behaves more like a drone costing at least $1,000. The barometric sensor and GPS module allow the drone to take the required position with an accuracy of 0.5 meters, even in strong winds.

Stability in flight allows you to focus on getting good shots instead of wasting energy and attention fighting the controls.

Another key part that makes the X380-C fly so well is its excellent powertrain, consisting of 2212 950KV brushless motors with 9-inch propellers. These motors are not inferior in quality to those from the Phantom 3.

The XK Detect X380 also features a “Headless” mode, allowing you to easily control the drone no matter which way it is facing. It is important to remember that when using this mode, the position of the drone in space and the “forward” direction are remembered when the motors are turned on and then do not change during the entire flight.

Headless mode is very useful in cases where the operator loses visual contact with the drone at a great distance. However, we advise you not to get too used to this mode and.

Camera

The XK X380-C comes with a two-axis gimbal with a camera. They are definitely not the best on the market, but still do a good job. The gimbal is attached to the bottom of the drone using four rubber bumpers and plastic screws to minimize vibration. Using the remote control, the pilot can change the angle of the camera during flight.

Of course, a two-axis gimbal is not able to completely eliminate all camera vibrations and works worse than three-axis options. At the same time, with skillful management, the X380-C is still capable of recording excellent videos. Problems can only arise in very strong winds.

The included 1080P HD camera appears to be a clone of the famous SJ4000 action camera. Although it costs significantly less than a GoPro, the quality of videos and photos recorded with it is truly impressive.

Hello, today we are reviewing the XK detect X380 quadcopter - one of the most advanced developments by XK Industrial Co.

Appearance

If it weren't for the color and branding, the X380 would be hard to distinguish from WLToys V303 . This is not surprising, since XK Industrial is part of the WLToys empire.

The hull of this model is made of carbon fiber substitute and ABS plastic and has LED headlights at the bow and a signal light at the stern. Just like the V303, the battery compartment is located at the front of the case.

Very large navigation lights stand out at the bottom of the beams. The aircraft is lifted into the air by XK 2212 950 KV brushless electric motors equipped with 9047 propellers. On the left side of the body there are connectors for connecting a camera and a motorized gimbal. There is also a connector that provides communication with a computer.

Flight characteristics

XK detect X380 is a cruise quadcopter. These aircraft stand out among their counterparts with a large number of intelligent modes, smooth movements and relatively low speed. The user purchases a “Ready-to-Fly” device that only requires compass calibration.

The calibration procedure must be carried out after each operator movement of 500 meters or more.

The pilot can use a large number of intelligent modes and functions:

  • altitude hold;
  • hovering at a given point;
  • flight around a point;
  • Headless mode;
  • automatic return to the starting point;
  • automatic takeoff and landing.

The barometer and gyroscope allow this drone to land with an accuracy of half a meter, even in fairly strong winds.

The maximum speed of the X380 does not exceed 6-7 m/s. The basic version of this drone can fly for up to 30 minutes. The gimbal, camera and FPV transmitter reduce this parameter by 30-50%. The controlled flight range is very large - up to 1000 meters. Stability is ensured by a gyroscope and accelerometer. Navigation is provided by the GPS system and built-in compass. During automatic landing, an atmospheric pressure sensor is used.

Control equipment

The quadcopter comes with an XK X8 remote control. The range of the remote control in open areas reaches a kilometer. It is worth noting that such an impressive range is achieved through the use of S-FHSS technology (switching operating frequencies in a pseudo-random sequence), which significantly increases the noise immunity of the communication channel. The remote control has 7 radio channels operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency range.

The equipment is pleasant to hold in your hands, and its controls are quite convenient. The stick layout (Mode 1 or 2) is set by the Stick Mode button. To perform the automatic takeoff and landing procedure, use the Take OFF button. At the top of the remote control there are Head Lock and Go Home toggle switches, the first of which turns on the “headless” mode, and the second returns the aircraft to the starting point. There is an information LCD panel at the bottom of the remote control. To the right of it are grouped the gimbal and camera controls.

The controllability of the quadcopter is quite good. The operator's commands are processed immediately and very clearly.

Camera XK detect X380

The X380 has four modifications, differing in gimbal and camera:

  • The basic modification does not have a video camera, but comes with a simple plastic suspension for mounting GoPro cameras. Its tilt is set manually.
  • The X380-A modification is equipped with a Full HD 1080p camera, capable of shooting at 30 fps and taking photos with a resolution of 5 MP. The camera is mounted on a gimbal. The supply is replenished with a MicroSD card.
  • The X380-B quadcopter is equipped with a camera that is similar in its parameters to the previous one, but has a different form factor and a more advanced mount.
  • The XK X380-C is equipped with a full-fledged action camera mounted on a two-axis stabilized gimbal. This option allows remote control of video equipment. The camera has a built-in 1.5-inch diagonal monitor, a 12 MP CMOS matrix and a slot for Micro SD memory cards. Its viewing angle is 170 degrees, it provides 4 video formats: 1920x1080 at 30 fps, as well as 1280x720, 848x480 and 640x480 at 60 fps. Photo resolution switches from 1.3 to 12 MP.

The video transmitter and FPV monitor are not included in any of the deliveries, so fans of first-person flights will have to purchase them for a separate fee.
